Dec 14, 2010I am writing a search application for a large dataset of images of algae.
The search is in two steps: first some general search criteria is filled out. Next a list of species that fit the general criteria shows up and the user checks which species they would like to see. Finally a list of images comes up that both fit the general search criteria and belong one of the species that the user had checked. I'm trying to decide the best way to do this, I thought about two potential ways...
One way: I can add all the checked species to a WHERE clause in the SQL statement that gives me my image search results. I dont like this though... its possible the user selects 100+ species and this would make for a very very long WHERE clause.
Another way: I could leave my SQL statement so it only takes into account the general search criteria. Then when I go to display the results, maybe I could choose not to display a record if it does not belong to a species that was checked by the user.
File Uploading Without Page Refresh In Webpages?
Jun 2, 2010how to upload files to the physical location of the server. It is possible using file upload control that i know. But i want to avoid the external postbacking of the page. For e.g exactly like what in the yahoo mail did.
In yahoo mail latest version if you attach a file that won't post back and attach that file in to server. What is the technology behind that?

Under "Sending a File Using Email" section what exactly is the code trying to do.
1: The SendFile.cshtml does not have any option to select file.
2: ProcessFile.cshtml is running fine. I am getting the email but no attachement.
I tried changing fileAttachment input to type="file" but not file is being sent to my email. I just get the message send in body.
Question: How exactly this file attachment works using Email Helper in WebPages.
Actionscript 3 - Incorporating Flash Components In One Site?
Jan 21, 2011I need to integrate ASP.NET into an existing Flash site. The site is heavily laden with Flash and needs to communicate with a SQL Server database. I want to use ASP.NET SQLDataSource for this purpose. Given that I need to integrate the two technologies for one web page on the site, do I need to make the site fully ASP.NET with embedded Flash objects? Or, can I just add a single ASPX page to the site that contains the web.config and connection string to SQL Server?

Nov 10, 2010I incorporated "JQuery UI DatePicker" from this site [URL] to my web application. I have it working but my issue comes with incorporating it with my strongly typed views.
I have included my revelant code below. The view is bind to the "NewEditDataTypeModel" model. I have 2 questions:
1. I have a date variable in my model that I pass to the view, how do I setup the DatePicker to use data from my model has a default value?
2. When an user selects a date from the DatePicker, how do I bind it to the model? Currently this value is passed in as a separate DateTime parameter in the action method (showned below).

AJAX :: Getting Error While Incorporating 3.5 Web App With 2.0 Framework Built Website?
Jul 15, 2010I have web site where web application exist in asp.net2.0 ie Framework 2.0. Now I would like Add another web application of ASP.NET3.5 FRAMEWORK. After adding assemblies of 3.5. I am getting error in ajax 1.0 code where this code is called

Error stated as CS0433: The type 'System.Web.UI.ScriptManager' exists in both 'c:WINDOWSassemblyGAC_MSILSystem.Web.Extensions1.0.61025.0__31bf3856ad364e35System.Web.Extensions.dll' and 'c:WINDOWSassemblyGAC_MSILSystem.Web.Extensions3.5.0.0__31bf3856ad364e35System.Web.Extensions.dll'
Is there any possibility that these error can be rectified from web.config or only we have to delete the assembly file from server of 1.0

Web Forms :: Webpages Keep Timing Out?
Mar 6, 2011we have a reseller web application that uses basically the same asp.net codes on different domains. However we replaced the cookies in the web.config files to the root domain of each domain and the timeout time to 1000
HOwever for the initial site that was setup, it runs well. But every additional site times out after about 2mins
I have looked through the web.config so many times to see if anything is conflicting but cant find anything.

Mar 4, 2010I transferred my precompiled Default.aspx and all related image files to the main folder of my www.freewebs.com account. I also transferred App_Code.compiled, App_Code.dll, App_Web_c871ipga.dll, App_Web_s_wu1khu.dll, App_Web_vy0pwb06.dll, and default.aspx.cdcab7d2. compiled in a new bin folder. When I accessed the URL address for the Default.aspx file in my freewebs account, all that I got back on my browser was: This is a marker file generated by the precompilation tool, and should not be deleted!
I also tried to deploy without precompilation. However, when I transferred my uncompiled Default.aspx web page to my freewebs account and entered [URL] what I got back on my browser was only a listing of the source code for the web page complete with my C# script code. Why can't I execute an ASP.NET web page?

Jan 22, 2011I have some text fields fields of my page say P1, say T1, T2, T3. I also have a link button in my page which links it to another page P2, which also has some textfields. I also have a link button which links it back to page P1.
When i fill in the text fields in my page P1 go to the next page P2 and try to return to P1. I loose the values in t1, t2, t3.
How to retain those values even if i am moving back and forth between these pages

it goes to DailyLog without confirming the login ...

for example, we have structure of property address what stored in database:
0. Property type
1. Region
2. Postal Code
3. City

5. List of properties
I need to build SiteMap with work with SiteMapPath.
If we have small count of records in database this is not a problem but what I need to do if in database present extrimally big count of element for each node (from 0-5) ?
make query to each element and build site map this is not good for two reason perfomance and count of queries to DB.
What solution exist for this case ?

Forms Data Controls :: Maintain Page State On Postback From Other Webpages?
May 3, 2010I have a abc.aspx page having some control like (drop downs, text boxes), i am filling a grid based on selected items in the drop downs and date selected from the ajax calender extender control attached to the from data and to date text boxes.
Inside grid there is a link which redirects to bcd.aspx, this page (bcd.aspx) is having a back button to redirect abc.aspx.
Now what i want is, abc.aspx should main its state like grid, drop downs and text boxes should be shown as it was earlier, i.e. all should have same values as it was at the time of redirecting to bcd.aspx.
Yes, there is a way to maintain the state by passing all values from query string and than get all values back and rebind all controls. But i don't want to go this way because i will have pass so many values in query string.
