Web Forms :: Layering - Edit Controls In Design Mode?

Mar 6, 2010

Using VS 2010 Beta 2, VB, to make hidden panels visible during design time, I have the panels away from the main form and then use Javascript to position them during runtime. This works fine except that when I use a footer on the masterpage, the footer shows up at the bottom of the page as if the page is the complete length of the desing page, and not the page that is being viewed. For example, I might have a panel that is absolute positioned to be 2000px from the top. During design view, the panel is easy to see and edit, but the content page would then be a height of 2000px. Using a javacript function, I position the panel to be at 100 px from the top upon pageload. During runtime, the page is viewed normal, but if you look at the page, there is a scroll bar to the right since the page shows to be 200x height until the javascrip function postitions it correct for viewing. Using a master page, the footer then shows up after the content page, which is 2000px down. Any ideas of how to make this work without changing what I do for editing? I am sure there is a better trick to editing layers, but I haven' found it. For example in Autocad, you just make a layer (panel) visible or invisible while editing. I haven't figured out how to do that with VS.

Web Forms :: How To Keep Controls Appear In Absolute Positions In Design Mode

Mar 19, 2010

I have some controls within panel control.

In the deisgn time they all appear 0th position on panel.

if the textbox's top is defined as 250px, in the design time also it should appear exactly at 250Px position instead it is appering at the 0px of panel.

all controls are appearing at the top of panel frame.

this problem i didn't see in vs 2003 1.1 framework, usign vs 2008 it started.

But at runtime they do appear perfect what ever the position they were suppose to.

I know for sure i may have to do some settings on the VS ide.

Forms Data Controls :: Get Out Of Edit Mode?

Apr 4, 2010

I have a Gridview that handles double clicks. On a double click, the selected row goes into Edit mode, which means in my case that edit controls (textboxes, checkboxes and dropdown lists) become visible, and display controls (labels) become invisible. On Page_Load the values in edit controls get saved. Now my question is this: how can I get out of the edit mode if I don't want to save? Can I e.g. handle Escape key? BTW, I use C#.

Cannot View Controls In Design Mode Using Ninject.Web

Mar 4, 2011

I'm playing around with dependency injection in a web-forms website al a Ninject and whilst I have had no problem at all getting the site running smoothly I've had a pretty big problem when viewing individual pages using design mode.

I wouldn't normally use design mode but dragging and dropping web user controls onto a design space is the easiest way by far to add them to a page.

The set-up is pretty much identical to guidelines here The error on the design page is thus:

The type "page name" requests an injection, but no kernel has been registered for the web application. ensure that your project defines a NinjectHttpApplication.

I'm using Asp.Net 4.0 with Ninject and Ninject.Web 2.2 utilizing property injection

Forms Data Controls :: GridView RowDataBound And Edit Mode?

Oct 21, 2010

I have a gridview and a template column:

<asp:TemplateField HeaderText="Active">
<EditItemTemplate>
<asp:CheckBox ID="chkbxActive" runat="server" Checked ='<%# Bind("Active") %>' />
</EditItemTemplate>
<ItemTemplate>
<asp:Label ID="lblActive" runat="server" Text='<%# Bind("Active") %>'></asp:Label>
</ItemTemplate>
</asp:TemplateField>

The item "Active" is a bit from the database And for the RowDataBound:

Const HeavyCheckMark As Char = ChrW(&H2714)
For Each row As GridViewRow In gvProductCodes.Rows
If gvProductCodes.EditIndex = -1 Then
' Selects the text from the Label which is inside the GridView control
Dim lblActive As String = CType(row.FindControl("lblActive"), Label).Text
lblActive = lblActive.Replace("True", HeavyCheckMark)
lblActive = lblActive.Replace("False", "")
'Replaces the text in each Label control
CType(row.FindControl("lblActive"), Label).Text = lblActive
Else
Dim chkbx As CheckBox = CType(row.FindControl("chkbxActive"), CheckBox)
End If

The check mark works fine when not in edit mode. But when in edit mode, the row that is being edited works as expected. But the other rows now show True or False. I want them to have the const HeavyCheckMark in it instead.

Forms Data Controls :: When Clicked Edit Mode In One Of Selected Row, It Will Run Away?

Jan 28, 2010

I created a sample gridview. However, when I clicked edit mode in one of selected row, it will run away. I need to use the mouse scroll up and down to find that row. As well, once finished the edit (clicked update button), it will run away again. I also need to find the editted row by using the mouse. How do I fix the position?
Furthermore, I also want to fix the header. If I scroll down, the header row will be on the top where ever I scroll to.

Forms Data Controls :: ListView Not Switching Into The Edit Mode

May 4, 2010

I need to display data somewhat like this:

Student Name: John
Exam Grade
MidTerm1 A
MidTerm2 B

For this, I defined a class 'Student' that has the properties StudentName[String] and Exams [a list of ExamGrade objects which has the Exam and Grade properties]. And I am using nested listviews to display the data. Here is the markup for the ListViews:

[Code]....

And the StudentInfo class looks like this:

[Code]....

And Exam class has just two properties.

Now the issue is that I have to press the Edit button [link button] twicw to get the EditItemTemplate. Even then I would get the blank textboxes. So what should I do to make the EditItemTemplate appear on the first click and the TextBoxes to appear with the existing data?

Forms Data Controls :: Edit Mode Doesn't Run All The Time

Apr 10, 2010

Edit mode does not run all the times I have a gridview with custom edit (I have my own textboxes placed in the EditItemTemplate for updating). When the user clicks the Edit button, the gridview goes into edit mode with no problem. In RowDataBound handler, I have the following code which checks if the edit mode is in process then an additional function will be called.

[Code]....

The problem is, I noticed that RowState and function are NOT called every time the GridView goes into edit mode but it goes every other line!!! For simplicity, I have blocked the function and put direct code. I have also tried the Edit functionality provided by the GridView, and surprisingly, it is NOT working!! Notice that in both ways, the gridview is displayed in Edit mode and it does display the
Update Cancel buttons in my second try. It is working fine in all alternate rows! I hope it is clear.

Forms Data Controls :: Formview From Readonly To Edit Mode

Jan 14, 2011

there are 2 pages (SummaryGridviewPage.aspx and FormviewPage.aspx) there are insert, item and update templates in the FormviewPage 1st case - there is no problem to insert new record, select and update action in the FormviewPage

2nd case - However, there is problem when i select a record in GV and direct to FormviewPage for edit this code is added in Formviewpage to open the record at readonly mode, no problem

Private Sub RF_Init(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles Me.Init
If Session("RecordID") <> "" Then ' to check New or Old record
SqlDataSourceRF.SelectParameters.Item("New_ID").DefaultValue = Session("RecordID")
FormViewProject.ChangeMode(FormViewMode.ReadOnly)
End If
End Sub

however, no record if go further from readonly to edit mode then Code is added to the Edit button

Protected Sub BtnEdit_Click(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As EventArgs)
FormViewProject.ChangeMode(FormViewMode.Edit)
SqlDataSourceRF.SelectParameters.Item("New_ID").DefaultValue = Session("RecordID")
FormViewProject.DataBind()
End Sub

Now edit problem is solved but when go back to the 1st case (new record, and then edit) Now new record can be inserted, and then show it in readonly mode. but then try to go to edit mode, no record show i think BtnEdit_Click code is conflicted with the built-in "Edit" command Could anyone show me some info how formview retrieve specific record in a proper way?

Forms Data Controls :: Programmatically Put The Gridview In Edit Mode?

Feb 2, 2010

I have a webform with two gridviews; a textbox for the invoice number, and a button to kick everything into action. I programmatically handle the select statements in the VB.Net file because I need to iterate through the second gridview's table to perform calculations and then put those results into the first gridview's table. Then I bind them. It works just fine.

The first gridview has one row with the payment information. The second gridview has multiple rows with the items that the payment is handling.Now I need to handle the edit, update and cancel functionality. I tried using a sqlDataSource for edit, update and cancel because it is simple, but it requires a Select statement so I guess that idea is not going to happen. I put a commandField with showeditfield=true, but clicking edit gives an error that rowEdit isn't handled. I have put that sub gvInvoice_RowEditing in there, but being new at this I have no idea what to put into that sub.

I can programmatically create all that functionality in the code behind. Won't it be quicker and easier if I write sub's for Edit, Update and Cancel that tell the gridview what to do - trick it to automatically handle all that? Is there an example available demonstrating how to tell the gridview to go into edit mode and proceed as if it was using a sqlDataSource?As a final note: perhaps it would be simpler if I create a third gridview to handle the job of totaling all the cash and listing each check seperately.Here is my code. It probably isn't the most elegant approach, but it works.

Forms Data Controls :: Can't Retrieve Value From Gridview Row In Edit Mode

Oct 13, 2010

I have a grid view. When I click edit, the OnRowCommand fires and the row goes into edit state. Label becomes a TextBox. I then attempt to alter this value in some way and click update. This again fires the OnRowCommand event. The problem is, when I attempt to capture the new value, it instead just shows the original value.In my grid view I have:

<asp:TemplateField
HeaderText="Start Name">
<ItemTemplate>
<asp:Label
ID="lblStartName"
runat="server"
Text='<%#Bind("StartName")%>'></asp:Label>
</ItemTemplate>
<EditItemTemplate>
<asp:TextBox
ID="txtStartName"
runat="server"
Text='<%#Bind("StartName") %>'></asp:TextBox>
</EditItemTemplate>
</asp:TemplateField>

In my code behinde i have

TextBox
textBox = (TextBox)row.Cells[4].FindControl("txtStartName");
