I am trying to check how much time does a function takes to execute in my code :
I did this :
void foo() { int time = System.DateTime.Now.Millisecond; // code of my function. do this, that, etc. Console.WriteLine((System.DateTime.Now.Millisecond-time).ToString()); }

Note : Here I have shown a console app but in practice i need for a Web App in ASP.NET which may be n-tier architecture also.
I am having an aspx page in which I am calling a user control. The user control I am using a pop up to display it when a user clicks a asp:linkbutton. In that user control I am having a textbox and I am calling a Jquery Blur to do some validation. While doing so the function is calling [blur] is calling twice. I just called an alert() with the textbox value.So I can see the alert is coming twice .What I need to do to avoid the second time. I need to do it only whenever the user going out of the textbox and that also one time.
How to call a function on run time button click. As I have created a table and a button on run time and want to call a function on its click on code behind page(.cs page). It is in Asp.net with c# my code full details is like
I have a web service in ASP.NET being called by a time-sensitive process. If the web service takes longer than N seconds to run I want to return from the call so the time sensitive operation can continue. Is this possible and if so what is the code for this?
We are using asp.net ajax 1.1 (and can't upgrade to latest for internal known reasons). We are having a page where we call ScriptService method through ASP.Net ajax and oncallback of result, we bind that result to Html controls on the page. During testing we observed that this whole process is taking too much time. When we profiled using IE8 developer toolbar, we observed that there is one standard function from ASP.net Ajax frameworks' own JS. Function name is function$_validateParameterType and it is the one which takes maximum time amongs others. Is there any way we can reduce the time take by this. Is there any standard practice for such requirements.
Let's say I have a Label on my page. In PageLoad() it's Text parameter is set to "This is my first text".
After, for example, 1 minute I want this Label to change it's text parameter to "This is my second text" (completely automatically, without any interaction of a user with this site).
I am writing a program to crawl the websites. The crawl function is a recursive one and may consume more time to complete, So I used Multi Threading to perform the crawl for multiple websites. What exactly I need is, after completion crawling one website it call next one (which should be in Queqe) instead multiple websites crawling at a time.I am using C# and ASP.NET.
I have a print button and I want to trigger the modalpopupextender and trigger the server side Button1_Click Sub.The print button calls a function that constructs a html table with the values of the gridview selected row.How can I open the modalpopupextender and trigger the server side function at the same time with the same button?
I have page with several textboxes, dropdowns, and check boxes on it. When I click my update button and the update happens, at that point all of the textboxes on the page are locked, I cannot click into any of them. The dropdowns and check boxes still work.
I have two roles admin and member. In my application, admin can manipulate most of the member data. I know that in forms authentication a user can be unlocked like,
MembershipUser user = Membership.GetUser(clickeduserName); user.UnlockUser(); Membership.UpdateUser(user);
My questions are,
How to lock a user in forms authentication? Why is MembershipUser.IsLockedOut Property set as ReadOnly? Is it not the right way to LockOut people as an administrator?
I need to know how many ways I can lock a file? Suppose a process has opened a file and reading or writing it, by this time another process try to open it and read or write, how many ways I can impose lock level on that particual file? So, that the data remain consistant.I'm using VS 2005 and OS is Windows XP or Windows 2003 Server.
I have a FormViewwith several bound textboxes whose values (text) are generated in code. The textboxes are bound to the data with Bind("<FieldName>"). Because there values are generated in code, I'd rather not let my users change their values. I have tried making them read only. However the values of the text boxes did not update when the form was updated. I tried disabling the textboxes but that grayed them out. I tried replacing the textBoxes with labels while keeping Bind("<FieldName>") but that didn't update either.
(1) Am I doing this right? (2) Is there any way to lock the value of a text box without graying the textbox?
I cannot sort after adding GridView_AA_RowCreated function. Each column of Grid view header-text worked well before I add this Row Created function. If I cut the following code: e.Row.Cells[2].Text = "Period Name"; Sorting works. I want to get sorting without removing this Row Created function. Do you have any brighter solution about my problem?
protected void GridView_AA_RowCreated(object sender, GridViewRowEventArgs e) { if (e.Row.RowType == DataControlRowType.Header) { e.Row.Cells[2].Text = "Period Name"; //Change header text in run-time } }
I am using IE8 browser. I would like to Lock column header of gridview in IE 8 Normal View. I can lock in In compatibility View . I could not Lock In Normal view of IE8 Browser. I have developed Asp.net Application(c#) usingNote: Gridview column Header is dynamically loaded as per Client Requirement.

A few months ago I was interviewing for a job inside the company I am currently in, I dont have a strong web development background, but one of the questions he posed to me was how could you improve this block of code.I dont remember the code block perfectly but to sum it up it was a web hit counter, and he used lock on the hitcounter.
lock(HitCounter) { // Bla... } However after some discussion he said, lock is good but never use it in web applications!What is the basis behind his statement? Why shouldnt I use lock in web applications?
how to suppress the "AM" in the gridview (template Bind("RideTimeMin", "{0:t}")? Don't tell me to use military time because the function is not "time on a clock"; it's how much time is allowed for a task (in this case the min/max hours & minutes that horses have to complete a 20 mile trail; e.g. 05:00, 05:27, etc). I'm currently accomplishing this in the "ondatabound" function by "..RTmin.Replace("AM","")". I have looked and looked at all the websites that talk about datetime formatting but have yet to find a way to do it upfront in the gridview bind statement.
I have this import function which can be changed by the client in his desired way.Now I want to code such that if the client tries to import his own data on the page and doesnot give the tags in the order mentioned below his import function should be stopped.
It shouldn't make any changes unless the tags are in the right format because the problem now is if the tags are not in the right format when client changes then its importing over the existing files and directing to an error page which I dont want it should simply stop the import function if they are nt in the order.the code for this function is below
Is their a wayin sql server 2005 to change some type of setting on a data table so that it can not be updated or inserted into?
My problem is that I have a data table that is somehow being populated by an application. I have looked through all of the stored procs, views, functions and the C# code itself. I can't find out where or how it is populating a certain data table. So I figure if I can somehow make the table non updateable, then I can find out where the insert/update is occuring.
This would all occur in a test environment of course.
