View 1 RepliesI am working in a product which is developing using telerik rad controls. Site have a master page which includes rad toolbar for main menus like file, edit etc.
When the site worked in IE 8 the half of the menu got inside of the content page. I changed the compatability settings of IE 8 to comptabality view and it solved. So i can view the site correctly. But in firefox also have the same issue. There not any compactability settings like this ( i think). So how can solve this? I mean wat issue is this ? Any css issue or any control behaviour?
I have a Master page and a user control on it.and i have a ASP Button on Usercontrol,the has to fire when ever i click on thats the default behaviour ..Now when the home page of my website loads and then i click on the button ,It works perfectly fine but when i navigate to other pages which have same master page the and then click on button the button does no trick!!

View 1 Repliesthis is probably something really simple but I cant see what! Any images I have in a masterpage aint showing in child pages, all i get is the box with the red cross in it. Dont think Ive done anything different from usual and its not something thats happened in other sites so im kinda scratchin my head with it.
View 5 RepliesI have an interesting issue I have racked my brain trying to find a solution to.
I have a site with a single master page. Part of that master page is a text field and button. They are not part of a content placeholder, they are simply part of the master page, itself, and are intended to allow people to search the site from any page on the site.
So, all search requests are routed to a search.aspx page, regardless. I am doing this by setting the PostBackUrl attribute of the button control to "search.aspx".
This all works great, except when I try to use this search capability from the search.aspx page, itself. I figure this is because I am using the Page.PreviousPage object and since a postback from the search.aspx page, itself will result in the Page.PreviousPage being Nothing, it is not performing the proper action.
when any Button control is clicked generally it Postback the page to itself, and the same page is regenerated.This is the usual defination of postback in context of a Button Control. But my dear friends i am confused that what is the actual mechanism behind this.Okey say for definition the above statement is fine but believe me i not not getting the actual meaning.What is posting back the Page? What is Page in browser's context? There is only html markup, JavaScript and CSS codes in browser's page.These make up the html page. I think there is no any relation of this Browser's page with ASP.NET Page class. What does it mean that browser's content is posted back to the Page itself ?
View 1 RepliesI have a problem of posting back in my website in some browsers. The Problem is: When I am uploading a file using file upload and button or posting page back on some event click after button click I am using:
ClientScript.RegisterClientScriptBlock(Me.GetType, "AddData", "alert('" & f_u_devideo.FileName & " Uploaded Successfully');", True)
But after that the page not not load again and a blank page comes in some browsers
I have a button on my web form. When it is pressed, the event method for that button is called as it should be. However before the buttons method is called, the page load event is first called. Is there a way to prevent the page load event from being called when the button is pressed? I know about using !Page.IsPostback in the Page load method. However I wish to avoid posting back to the Page Load method altogether when this particular button is pressed.
View 6 RepliesI have a web application that uses the master/child page layout you get by default (at least in a VS2010 web project). The Masterpage has a NavigationMenu, each item on that NavigationMenu has a NavigateUrl that looks like "~/Pages/MyPage.aspx". This automatically opens 'MyPage' in the Content of the Masterpage, so that the master page with menu and header etc stays visible.
Now, the client has a guestbook on her old website (I'm basically rebuilding her website, adding the ability for her to upload new content in her browser), and she wants to keep it. This guestbook is from a 'free guestbook' third party website, over which I have no control. It's simply a website in the form [URL] .... which shows the guestbook for a user 'Username'.
In her old website, I was using frames, so the menu on the left side was in a different frame, and I would simply open the third party website in the center frame. That would create the illusion that the guestbook was on her site, while it was actually a completely different website in a separate frame.
In my new website I'm no longer using frames, but the master/child layout as explained. Is it still possible to 'host' or 'embed' this third party website as a 'child' of the master page?
I tried just putting the url to the guestbook in the NavigateUrl of a NavigationMenu item, but that doesn't work, it just navigates to the third party website and doesn't embed it in any way.
I want to navigate from master page to login page whenever I hit my url
First time when i hit my url i should go directly to login page not on master page code
right now whne i hit my url my page redirect to mast page :( I need to press login button to go login page
I want this login page as my first page wheneven i hit my url
I used on page load Response.Redirect("~/login.aspx") but it always redirect to login page bcoz of this I am unable to login
I tried both way is postback or not postback
below is my code :
If Not Session("UI") Is Nothing Then
If user.Name <> "" Then
Logoutbutton.Visible = True
LoginButton.Visible = False
MainMenu.Visible = True
[Code] .....
I am trying to see if it possible to create a back button that goes back 3 pages and refreshes that page. The make up of my page is a little complex. The Home page has a password prompt that enables a multiview to be visible with a gridview of information. The gridview has a details link that has a 2 querystrings that gets sent to the details page. The details page has the ability to be edited and updated. this is why I wanted it to go back 3 pages. The code I am using to go back is
<asp:Button ID="Button2" runat="server" CausesValidation="False" OnClientClick="javascript:history.go(-3);return false;" Text="Back" UseSubmitBehavior="False" />
I'm using a wizard control with 4 steps, when I use the previous button to navigate back to the previous step the page reloads but at the bottom of the page.Instead of showning the whole of the page, the user views the footer of the site and the previous button and next button.I'm sure there is a very simple answer to this but I just can't figure out how to get the page to reload to the top.
View 8 RepliesI found alot of thread about how to postback after close the modal popup.
But for me, the system has already did it for me.
How to prevent page from posting back?
here's my code
[Code]....
I am not sure what the event is called but I'm trying to get it so if your not logged in you can't manually type the page name in the bar at the top. I need to find a way so it will always redirect you to the login page if you haven't signed in.
Also the same goes for sessions, at the moment when my session time runs out my website fails as there is alot linked to sessions from my database, how do I get it so when a session expires upon trying to navigate inside the website you are passed back to the login page?
I have an aspx page that has...
if (!IsPostBack)
{
PopulateBrand();
in the Page_Load. This PopulateBrand() simply populates my drop down. That works great and on post back it retains the value.
The problem I'm having is that there is also a link on the page that is posting back some parameters to this page. What is happening is that when this is clicked it's falling through this !IsPostBack section and wiping out my drop down values that I had selected and repopulating it.
How can I prevent this and just retain what I selected when this page is posting back to itself when the link is clicked?
Currently I'm doing common functionality required throughout my site inside of my masterpage. What I want to do is move this functionality to a BaseClass so All my pages inherit from the Base Class. However, I'm not sure how to set this up interms of c# code with regards to Using a Base Class and then having a masterpage applied to my aspx pages that i create.
View 5 RepliesIs it possible to stop my page posting back when the user presses the enter (return) key..?
View 4 RepliesGot a pretty simple page where i want an update panel to become visible or hidden based on a button click. When i run this page in VS2010 in debug mode it works as i expected it to - page does not post back, the panel just appears or disappears on the page without the whole page refreshing.
I uploaded this to my server, and the page is posting back when you click the button.
Server is win2k8R2 x64 IIs7.5
Do i need to enable anything in the IIS configuration?
I have a master page setup that is used throughout my site that is basically a header with a menu. I recently added a textbox and a button to this master page which is to be a quick search box that is available anywhere in the site. When a user enters text into the search box and hits the button, I need to load the actual content page which is used to search and show search results (which also uses this same master page), and have the text entered available so the search can be triggered automatically. Again, this search text box and button is now in my master page so it could be triggered from anywhere in the app... it serves as a convenient way to do a basic search from anywhere in my app, without having to first navigate to the actual 'search page' that already exists. You can also navigate to the actual search page, which uses the same master page, where there is many more search options.I'm thrown off by the master page arrangement, which I have not used until this project. What do I do?
View 4 RepliesI got a Master page and nested master pages in the subfolders.
Top Level Master page
Second Level Master page inherited Top Level Master page
Third Level Master page inherited Second Level Master page
However, changes (i.e. new images & alt. name) that I made in the Top level master page did not apply to the second or third levels.My webpage has a correct front page but not in the sections. How can i correct this ?
Master Page(See where i call Logon user control . )<%@ Master Language="C#" Inherits="System.Web.Mvc.ViewMasterPage" %>
View 1 RepliesI basically want to show a dialog box with confirm or cancel options on it.
Confirm should allow the partial postback to take place, cancel should not. I have tried using a trigger and calling __doPostBack() as advised here but it posts back the full page not just the panel.
$('#buttonInUpdatePanel').live('click', function (event) {
event.preventDefault();
var item = this;
var title = 'Confirm';
var msg = 'Please confirm something';
var $dialog = $("<div id='myDialog'></div>")
.html(msg)
.dialog({
modal: true,
buttons: {
"Confirm": function () {
$(this).dialog("close");
__doPostBack('Button1', null); //tried this and .submit() on the button
//return true;
},
"Cancel": function () {
$(this).dialog("close");
//return false;
}
},
title: title
});
});
My UpdatePanel:
<asp:UpdatePanel ID="UpdatePanel2" UpdateMode="Conditional" runat="server">
<ContentTemplate>
<asp:TextBox runat="server" ID="TextBox1" />
<asp:Button
ID="Button1"
Text="Add"
OnClick="AddExtraVehicle_Click"
runat="server" />
</ContentTemplate>
<Triggers>
<asp:AsyncPostBackTrigger ControlID="Button1" EventName="Click" />
</Triggers>
</asp:UpdatePanel>
UPDATE:
I have changed the doPostBack to use the button ID now and commented out the return true and false lines. When I click the button it calls the confirmation dialog but when you click on confirm it appears to do nothing. I was expecting a call to the method AddExtraVehicle_Click but the breakpoint didn't trigger.
I have a hidden field (hfUnsaved)in my child page . On keypress of my textbox i am setting the value into the hiddenfield using the following javascript function
[Code]....
On load: txtProject.Attributes.Add("onkeypress", "return Click('a');");
On button click i am removing the value from hidden field as follows:
