Web Forms :: Post A Form In .aspx Page To An External URL?
Sep 24, 2010
I'm migrating an old ColdFusion site to ASP.NET. One of the pages has a form that posts to an external URL.
[Code]....
I just discovered that you can't do this in an .aspx page. Seems the page will just post to itself if you hit the submit button.What's the proper technique for achieving this in ASP.NET? There are a couple of hidden fields that pass parameters to the external URL.

I have an app which has a form that used to use AutoPostBack rigged controls (dropdowns, radiobuttons etc.) in an updatepanel, and I used to set session values on each postback. I posted the form using PostBackUrl to an external page, using a bit of javascript OnClientClick to copy my data into meaningfully named hidden fields.
Now, I've had to rewrite the AutoPostBack-ing controls so that all the cascading dropdown work and date calculation etc. is done in JavaScript, and not in C# - no more postbacks, no more updatepanel.
This means I've lost the ability to set my session values on postback. Can anyone think of a solution for setting these before I post my form? I need to set the session variables, plus post (querystrings are not an option) to the external page with the values from my form - and actually send the user to the external page, too.

What would be the most efficient way to inject just the contents of an html page into a user control or directly into a page?
In example if the html page I'm calling consists of a simple <div> layout how could I display that within an aspx page.

I'm using an ASP.NET Facebook Developers Toolkit (http://www.codeplex.com/FacebookToolkit) on an external website, and I'm also the admin of a facebook fan page for the website. Users on my website (may or may not be facebook users) create content articles.
I would like to hook up these articles to the Facebook fan page, so that, when they write the article, then ones with FB accounts can sign into FB and post on the Fan page. I'm sure they would need to be a fan first.

My employer would like me to create a login page with our logo that:
1.User enter their login and password on our page
2.posts the login/password to the form on one of our client's login pages
3. Takes them user to the client's site, logged in.
I tried searching but most examples don't show how I can then bring the user to the client url, logged in. Any suggestions? Thanks.

I've a page which consolidates different sections by different .aspx pages. Those pages will be loaded into corresponding div(s) dynamically by using jQuery.load(). They all are rendered properly, however, when clicking on any asp:button in any section page, the entire main page will be replaced by the section page even the asp:button is just popping up a message box.

I have a simple webApplication. Now I have a second webapplication with few web aspx pages. When I build each project I get aspx files with 1 dll per project.
Now the structure of the first webApplication is like this
inwebapplication1.dll
Default.aspx
Is it possible to load the dll of the second application dynamically and put its dll into the bin directory. The result will be something like this:
inwebapplication1.dll
inwebapplication2.dll
Default.aspx
application2default.aspx
The problem is that when I try to open application2default.aspx the compiler is throwing an error that it cannot find the class for that particular page because the assembly inwebapplication2.dll is not loaded. I tried to load the assembly from the web config like this <add assembly="myassemly, Version=1.0.0.0, PublicKeyToken=null, Culture=neutral"/> and also from the code like this Assembly.LoadFrom( @"D:Projectsinmyassemly.dll" ); OR Assembly.Load( "myassemly, Version=1.0.0.0, PublicKeyToken=null, Culture=neutral" ); but I still have no success. Can u tell me what is the logic here with the assembly load?

I want to be able to post my form data to another page based on the result of a validation done on server (and not via javascript). As an example, let's say the user captures a customer number and then captures the phone number of the customer on page A. When the user clicks on the submit button, the page posts back. Then, in the button click event, I need to check in the database if the customer number exists. If it exists, I need to post the data to page B so that user can input the next information. If it does not, I need to stay on the first page and show an error message telling the user that the customer does not exists.
I do not want to use Response.Redirect cause that would mean that page B would lose the form data coming from page A. I know about crosspage postbacks but that just turn the problem the other way around (if I post directly to page B, how do I get back to page A with the form data and show the error message?)...I know about Server.Transfer too but I would like to avoid that method because I know there are down sides to it too...I tried setting the button target URL to page B after validating from the database but it does not automatically redirect to Page B, it still shows up Page A and then if you click again on the button you are taken to page B. I know I could setup a javascript to automatically call the click on the button to post the page the second time automatically to the Page B but I don't like that method (if the user has slow internet, he sees the page twice and once the user is on page B, he can't use the back button cause he would be automatically redirected back to Page B because of the script).So, is there a way to change the request target after the button's click code has been handled???

<form action="formprocess.aspx" method="POST" name="form1" id="form1">
When the users presses submit, I get the below error and for the life of me cannot figure out why!
I have tried GET as well, byt that just seems to post to itself and just puts the form vairables in the URL rather than going to formprocess.aspx.page you are looking for cannot be displayed because an invalid method (HTTP verb) was used to attempt access.Please try the following:Contact the Web site administrator if you believe that this request should be allowed.Make sure that the Web site address displayed in the address bar of your browser is spelled and formatted correctly.HTTP Error 405 - The HTTP verb used to access this page is not allowed.Internet Information Services (IIS)

i have a PayPal button, and i've been trying to add it to my site, but since my page is in a masterpage, and ovcourse, the form tag is editable only in masterpage, theres no way i could add the code inside the form tag, as so:
<form action="https://www.paypal.com/cgi-bin/webscr" method="post">
<input type="hidden" name="cmd" value="_s-xclick">
<input type="hidden" name="hosted_button_id" value="K92PCJ9ULE8LC">
<input type="image" src="https://www.paypal.com/en_GB/i/btn/btn_donate_LG.gif" border="0" name="submit" alt="PayPal - The safer, easier way to pay online.">
<img alt="" border="0" src="https://www.paypal.com/en_GB/i/scr/pixel.gif" width="1" height="1">
</form>
But as i tried to create another form tag, it came up saying i could only have 1 server side form tag.So is there any way i could do this?

I have a master page which includes a search textbox and a button which posts back to another page. The controls are defined as follows:
<asp:TextBox
ID="SearchTextBox"
runat="server"
style="margin-left:
0px"
Width="170px" />
<cc1:TextBoxWatermarkExtender
ID="SearchTextBox_TextBoxWatermarkExtender"
runat="server"
Enabled="True"
TargetControlID="SearchTextBox"
WatermarkCssClass="watermark"
WatermarkText="Search Name" />
<asp:Button
ID="SearchButton"
runat="server"
Text="Search"
PostBackUrl="~/SearchPage.aspx"/>
The problem is that for any other TextBox on the page which is using this MasterPage, for example the login page, if you type your user name and password and hit Enter, The page is redirected to the SearchPage. If you click on login buttton everything works fine. How do I make sure hitting enter on the page in any other text box does not post back to SearchPage.aspx?

asp.net with vb. I thought this would be easy but have been reading for an hour and not found out how to simply repost a page where form data has been entered and return the page with some error messages about what was entered. I want to return the page with all input controls with the data just as the user entered them before submitting. the error messages are labels that were blank when the page is first loaded. preferably the page returns focused to the topmost error error message. if that can't be done I would populate some label at the top of the page with something to the effect that 'errors were found, scroll down to see the errors'

I know that there's a lot of free open source blog engine out there such as BlogEngine.NET.However that's an overkill for my purpose.I so far has created my own simple one by storing posts in a .xml file and so every time the main page loads it reads from all those xml files and displays it as posts.Now my problem is when a user clicks on a post title I want it to show on a new page(.aspx),so if the title is X then I want a new page called X.aspx when the user clicks on the title on the homepage.I hope this makes sense.My question is how do I create such thing?

I need to send some parameters to an external website using the <asp:HiddenField /> controls and also at the same time, submit data to a sql server database. The part for submitting the data to the database is working, but I need to try to get the parameters from the hiddenfields to also be passed through. I thought all I had to do is create the hidden fields and in the code behind, set the values from the textboxes that the user would fill out.
My source code is below:
[code]...
What am I missing? The hidden fields are losing their value before posting to the external website. I've looked everywhere to see why this won't work.

Is there a way to force a non-secure form post to be secure? I understand there are ways to automatically resolve an http URL as an https URL but with form posts, is this type of redirection too late? Will the posted data have already gone through the wire as plain text?

I need to know how to post information from an HTML <form> to a page that's within an IFRAME on an external server. In other words, the page with the <form> is on the first server, page being posted to is on the second server within an IFRAME which is also on the second server.
I've seen snippets of code for posting to a page within an IFRAME, but I believe that these apply to an IFRAME and target page on the same server as the posting page.
