Best Way To Post Data To An Aspx Page From WPF Application
Mar 24, 2011
I need to send a simple variable value from my WPF app to an aspx page. The page runs under an anonymous web site. What are the best practices to post a single value and ead it out on the other side (aspx)?
I've scoured through the Forums about how 2 windows can interact with each other. There had been a lot of solutions involving parent-child windows, or modal pop-up wiows. However, my problem involves 2 aspx windows that show data from the same datasource, but should be able to update the data from either window, and after saving in either window shows the updated data
I know that there's a lot of free open source blog engine out there such as BlogEngine.NET.However that's an overkill for my purpose.I so far has created my own simple one by storing posts in a .xml file and so every time the main page loads it reads from all those xml files and displays it as posts. Now my problem is when a user clicks on a post title I want it to show on a new page(.aspx),so if the title is X then I want a new page called X.aspx when the user clicks on the title on the homepage.I hope this makes sense. My question is how do I create such thing?
I'm migrating an old ColdFusion site to ASP.NET. One of the pages has a form that posts to an external URL.
[Code]....
I just discovered that you can't do this in an .aspx page. Seems the page will just post to itself if you hit the submit button. What's the proper technique for achieving this in ASP.NET? There are a couple of hidden fields that pass parameters to the external URL.
I have an asp.net application in which I have a parent form and in that on load I am adding sub forms dynamically having a submit image button..
When I am clicking the button of one form then I am able to read the hidden variables using request under parent form .But on clicking the second button the hidden variables of parent form are having null value although i have assign the value to them using context variables.
how can i handle mulitple form action for same page
The problem is that for any other TextBox on the page which is using this MasterPage, for example the login page, if you type your user name and password and hit Enter, The page is redirected to the SearchPage. If you click on login buttton everything works fine. How do I make sure hitting enter on the page in any other text box does not post back to SearchPage.aspx?
I have a zmags catalogue program running in an IFrame, and are using the shopping capabilities to send data from the zmags viewer to a specified URL where I want to catch the data. The data is specified as XML data and stored in a "ShoppingList" POST variable. I then need to extract those data from the xml and send them as POST parameters yet again to another URL because the shopping system I'm using requires a specific parameterlist to fill the shoppingbag rather than an xml file. And I suppose I only need the ID and quantity since the rest is already part of the shopping system. In short what I'm looking for is:
catalogue --> *XML in POST variable* --> ASPX / ASCX / VB / C# (solution) --> *new URL call with new POST variables* --> SHOP aspx
I've been searching all day for a solution to this problem with small advances but no real solution. I hope this forum can provide some precise help, since I've been reading a lot of posts which answer different issues. I can't change the XML format or the fact that I need to send the data inside the XML as parameters to a new URL. I'm primarily working in ASP.NET and C# or VB for codebehind. XML data example
in my file1.aspx: i have a search date from [textbox: date1] to [textbox:date2] and a submit button. in my file1.aspx.cs i can list all the dates from date1 to date 2 given using a for loop.Howan i list all the dates in my file1.aspx under my search tool.
i want to crete some runtime control in asp.net hence i create one html file & for that i use JAVASCript for repeat that contols.i want to save the data enter into that control.but how it post to .aspx file & how the data save into database
I have an aspx page and I want to access an application on the client after seeking user permission. Both the windows application and the website are to be made in VB.NET.
EDIT: Here is the problem. From my .aspx webpage in vb.net, a visitor clicks on a link on my site, and if my winform is not already loaded on their desktop, it is then loaded with the users permission. This application should auto-load on the user's site at boot up time and always be in the background running. Make it an extremely thin client, taking the least cpu and bandwidth from the user, and running as a silent background process until needed.
Whenever the user visits one of my many websites, IN ANY BROWSER, somehow - the app running in the background communicates with the .aspx on one of my sites, and exchanges a silent username password identifying client winform app to the online .aspx app on my website.
Then the .aspx on my site PASSES a url such as "www.somewebsite.com" to the app running in the background, the background app then does a http request from the client's computer, not from my .aspx server, so the client's cookies and ip are visible to "www.somewebsite.com" server. The client collects the html for that page, stores it as a string, and also saves the ascii of that webpage as another string.
Both strings then are PASSED BACK to my .aspx website that the client is visiting, and the .aspx app then stores these results in a database.
Does code in an .aspx page (in between <% %> tags) get compiled in a web application or is it treated like markup where you can just change it without recompiling the solution? Does compiling only compile the code behind code in the .cs and designer.cs files ?
There are two web applications App1 & App2. A user would submit his information on App1 though a form. On click of a specific button/link on App1, the same data should be posted to a page on App2 and the user should also be redirected to the same page on App2.I would like some help in finding out the best way to implement this functionality.
One of the approaches that I have already tried out is by creating a temporary HTML form at runtime, setting the action attribute of the form to the App2 Page and get the form posted by using javascript submit. The data can then be fetched on App2 page by using the response.form object. This approach works well, but i was still wondering if there is any other way to implement the required functionality.
give some insights on using RESTful webservices to implement this, or else, using some HttpModule to intercept requests at App1 and modify redirect response to app2 or any other approach that you might find fit for the purpose.
I have written a sample web service, which consist of certain .aspx pages. I have written a code to consume webmethods from that web service. Now, is it possible to load the aspx page which is a part of the web service from the calling web application i.e. from another aspx page which is outside the web service.
How this scenario is;
I have one web application running with a page say Page1.aspx in browser. 2. I have created a web service which is having an aspx page say Page2.aspx. 3. There is a button on Page1.aspx. 4. Now, when client click on the button, is it possible to load Page2.aspx, which is not a part of web application, but the web service.

What I am trying to do is, get response obtained in Gen.aspx and pass it to default.aspx page.
I have Flex application requiring to filter users depending on there database groups. Depending on which group they are, the're is a config.xml file that is use to populate the swf.
Here is how I figure how to do this : 1. The client comes to a .aspx page with a form requiring a username and a password. 2. On the server side I confirm the user credential 3. Once the username/password is valid I redirect to the mxml file with the config.xml file in the html headers (post).
My problem comes when I need to get the post data from the http request. Let's say I have this code :
<mx:Application initialize="init()">
<mx:Script> <![CDATA[ [code]... How do I get the post data on the init() function.
While having a file App_Offline.htm takes the entire application offline from the web server, is it possible to just take a particular or certain particular pages offline?
E.g. Default2.aspx, Default3.html, Default4.htm, etc.
Such that when a user navigates to the page, a message would tell the user that the page is offline / redirect the user to an alternative page?
I want to make a deployment package for my asp.net 3.5 application. Actually i have to send this to my client who would run this application on his intranet. I tried setup n deployment package type project and it created .msi file.while installing this it create all the files which are lying in the project application. But i want to send all the files in complied format only not directly code files.
How could i convert the aspx.cs files into nonreadable complied files..
I am trying to post data from vb.net application to web service asmx that is located on server! For posting data from vb.net application I am using this code:
Public Function Post(ByVal url As String, ByVal data As String) As String Dim vystup As String = Nothing Try 'Our postvars Dim buffer As Byte() = Encoding.ASCII.GetBytes(data) 'Initialisation, we use localhost, change if appliable Dim WebReq As HttpWebRequest = DirectCast(WebRequest.Create(url), HttpWebRequest) 'Our method is post, otherwise the buffer (postvars) would be useless WebReq.Method = "POST" 'We use form contentType, for the postvars. WebReq.ContentType = "application/x-www-form-urlencoded" 'The length of the buffer (postvars) is used as contentlength. WebReq.ContentLength = buffer.Length 'We open a stream for writing the postvars Dim PostData As Stream = WebReq.GetRequestStream() 'Now we write, and afterwards, we close. Closing is always important! PostData.Write(buffer, 0, buffer.Length) PostData.Close() 'Get the response handle, we have no true response yet! Dim WebResp As HttpWebResponse = DirectCast(WebReq.GetResponse(), HttpWebResponse) 'Let's show some information about the response Console.WriteLine(WebResp.StatusCode) Console.WriteLine(WebResp.Server) 'Now, we read the response (the string), and output it. Dim Answer As Stream = WebResp.GetResponseStream() Dim _Answer As New StreamReader(Answer) 'Congratulations, you just requested your first POST page, you 'can now start logging into most login forms, with your application 'Or other examples. vystup = _Answer.ReadToEnd() Catch ex As Exception MessageBox.Show(ex.Message) End Try Return vystup.Trim() & vbLf End Function
