Handle Multiple Forms Post Action Under A Parent Form For Same Aspx Page?
Jul 27, 2010
I have an asp.net application in which I have a parent form and in that on load I am adding sub forms dynamically having a submit image button..
When I am clicking the button of one form then I am able to read the hidden variables using request under parent form .But on clicking the second button the hidden variables of parent form are having null value although i have assign the value to them using context variables.
how can i handle mulitple form action for same page
I have a web form called default.aspx which has a form with user information. In addition to this, I have an iFrame on the same page that displays a page Secondary-Form.aspx that has a few additional dynamic data fields. I need to do two things.
1. I need to pass the parent form data in real time to the iFrame page to refresh its content and modify it's fields accordingly. Example: If the user submits their Vehicle Choice as Car on parent form, the form item in iFrame will display a radio button that says Honda, and if the user submits their Vehicle Choice as MotorCycle in the parent page, the iFrame will display Harley Davidson as the radio button choice
2. The submit button is on the parent page. I want both pieces of this information (from the parent page, as well as iFrame selection) to be passed to a server side ASPX page to process this information.the default.aspx and Secondary-Form.aspx files are located on different domains.
I'm migrating an old ColdFusion site to ASP.NET. One of the pages has a form that posts to an external URL.
[Code]....
I just discovered that you can't do this in an .aspx page. Seems the page will just post to itself if you hit the submit button.What's the proper technique for achieving this in ASP.NET? There are a couple of hidden fields that pass parameters to the external URL.
i have a master page and a child aspx page, coneected to each other. the master page has the form in it. Now the child page has checkboxes, whose value i would like to pass to another child page with same master page behind it. Can i change the action=abc.aspx and method=post?How can i send all the checkbox values (checkbox.text = abc@oke.com) to the next page? there are lots of these values that need to pass to nex tpage.
I don't know it's even possible but I try to achieve to post data from one page to another using the second form.The problem is I need a form tag for the user interface containing callback panels etc. I want to put a second form with some hidden-field:
public class BandProfileModel { public BandModel Band { get; set; } public IEnumerable<Relationship> Requests { get; set; } } and the following form: <% using (Html.BeginForm()) { %> <%: Html.EditorFor(m => m.Band) %> <input type="submit" value="Save Band" /> <% } %> which posts to the following action: public ActionResult EditPost(BandProfileModel m, string band) { // stuff is done here, but m is null? return View(m); }
Basically, I only have one property on my model that is used in the form. The other property in BandProfleModel is just used in the UI for other data. I'm trying to update just the Band property, but for each post, the argument "m" is always null (specifically, the .Band property is null). It's posting just fine to the action, so it isn't a problem with my route. Just the data is null.
The ID and name attributes of the fields are BAND_whatever and Band.whatever (whatever being a property of Band), so it seems like it would work. What am I doing wrong? How can I use just one property as part of a form, post back, and have values populated via the model binder for my BandProfileModel property in the action?
In my website I have two forms: parent form and child form(dialog box). Their expected behaviour is like this: if clicked on 'show' button on parent form, a dialog form opens that displays a gridview. In dialog form, if clicked on 'select' button it closes itself and returns value in selected row back to parent form.
To achieve this I write following code (.cs) : in parent form:
void ShowBtn_Click(object sender, EventArgs e)
{
StringBuilder jScript = new StringBuilder(); [code]....
Now problem is: the code in parent .cs works fine, it opens the dialog properly. But when clicked on 'select', instead of returning back to parent, it opens the same dialog again in new window. This newly open window says "Done but error on page" at left bottom.
I have a LinkButton within a User Control and it has handled with:
Private Sub LoginLinkLinkButton_Click(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles LoginLinkLinkButton.Click Response.Redirect("/", True) End Sub
On certain ASPX pages I would like to handle the click from the page's code behind, opposed to within the user control. How do I override the handle within the control from the parent's code behind page?
Update:
Based on the answer, I have the following no added to the User Control:
[code]....
The problem is determining the correct syntax for the if line because the above is invalid.
I am a seasoned desktop developer but I am new to MVC, EF and web development in general. I have been following the MVC Music Store tutorial but using my own database and project instead of the one from the tutorial.
My project is a web front end to a configuration database that lets us implement new Markets (a.k.a. Customers) for our IVR. For the View that allows the user to modify an existing Market I use a ViewModel class that has two properties. One property (clientData) is an EntityObject populated from a single row of the Client_Data table. The other property (callflowSeq) is a List of EntityObjects populated from about 40 rows of the Callflow_Sequence table.
The "Get" Edit method of the MarketsEditViewModel displays the Edit View fine but when I modify the data only the Client_Data table gets updated.
Here is my ViewModel:
[Code]....
Here are the Edit methods from my Controller:
[Code]....
Here is my View:
[Code]....
It seems that I can't use UpdateModel() to update the Callflow_Sequence table but I can't figure out how to do it manually.
I am able to route my urls to an existing page. Here is how our scenario is currently working:
On Default.aspx, we have several links that link to pdf files on the server. The filenames of these files change dynamically which is why we need the url routing. When the user clicks on of the urls, the link is routed to the getFile.aspx page that has logic in it to determine which file to open.
Is there a way to have the getFile.aspx page to open in the same window as the default.aspx page?
Otherwise, I need for the getFile.aspx page to close after the intended processing is complete, and I've not been able to close it without getting the close window dialog box. I figure if it opens in the same browser window, I can redirect back to the default.aspx page when processing is finished.
Consider the following scenario.You have a Edit action (GET and POST) for an entity that multiple pages link into (GET EDIT). What is the best way of getting back to the page that linked to the edit action? Adding a returnTo url in the query?
Example, from MyCart/3 we have a edit product link /Product/Edit/5?returnTo=MyCart/3 (but url encoded) And from Producer/45 we have this link /Product/Edit/5?returnTo=Producer/45
I want to be able to post my form data to another page based on the result of a validation done on server (and not via javascript). As an example, let's say the user captures a customer number and then captures the phone number of the customer on page A. When the user clicks on the submit button, the page posts back. Then, in the button click event, I need to check in the database if the customer number exists. If it exists, I need to post the data to page B so that user can input the next information. If it does not, I need to stay on the first page and show an error message telling the user that the customer does not exists.
I do not want to use Response.Redirect cause that would mean that page B would lose the form data coming from page A. I know about crosspage postbacks but that just turn the problem the other way around (if I post directly to page B, how do I get back to page A with the form data and show the error message?)...I know about Server.Transfer too but I would like to avoid that method because I know there are down sides to it too...I tried setting the button target URL to page B after validating from the database but it does not automatically redirect to Page B, it still shows up Page A and then if you click again on the button you are taken to page B. I know I could setup a javascript to automatically call the click on the button to post the page the second time automatically to the Page B but I don't like that method (if the user has slow internet, he sees the page twice and once the user is on page B, he can't use the back button cause he would be automatically redirected back to Page B because of the script).So, is there a way to change the request target after the button's click code has been handled???
I'm trying to add file upload functionality to a page. I've got a form that posts the selected file to a controller with a 'savefile' method. But if I don't add a get version of 'savefile' I'll get a 404 error. Here is the form code which is presented on the Index page:
[Code]....
And here is the controller code:
[Code]....
Intuitively I don't think I should need a GET version of SaveFile but if omit it I get a 404 error when the form posts. Why should I need a GET version of SaveFile when all I want is to post a form and save the file?
When the users presses submit, I get the below error and for the life of me cannot figure out why! I have tried GET as well, byt that just seems to post to itself and just puts the form vairables in the URL rather than going to formprocess.aspx.page you are looking for cannot be displayed because an invalid method (HTTP verb) was used to attempt access.Please try the following:Contact the Web site administrator if you believe that this request should be allowed.Make sure that the Web site address displayed in the address bar of your browser is spelled and formatted correctly.HTTP Error 405 - The HTTP verb used to access this page is not allowed.Internet Information Services (IIS)
It should be simple; although I'm having a hard time to figure out the best way to do it. I've MVC2 pages with multiple forms on the same page having different functionalities.
What's the best way to handle this; including the MVC2 way of validation from the model?
I have 2 forms on one page. 1 search form which only contains a text field and a submit button and 1 registration form which has a few required fields. The search form need to post data to search.aspx.
as you see article query string will have the id of the article. in my new mvc app, I wiil display my blogs on www.example.com/40
here, 40 is the id of the article.t the search engines have my current url and if I upgrade my app to mvc app, the links will be broken. so what is the best way of mapping those url in an mvc app.
i have a PayPal button, and i've been trying to add it to my site, but since my page is in a masterpage, and ovcourse, the form tag is editable only in masterpage, theres no way i could add the code inside the form tag, as so:
I need to create a generic action page that accepts post data from an html form. The server is running asp.net 2 on windows 2003 iis6.
I don't want the page to post back to itself, but that redirect to another page. How do I create the page that accepts the data from another page? Not really sure where to start here
I have an aspx webpage in which an user control is added dynamically as follows:
UserControl testUsrControl = LoadControl("TestUsrControl") as UserControl; testUsrControl.ID ="test";
Then I tried adding an event handler of user control inside aspx like below:
testUsrControl.Drpdatafield_SelectIndexChanged += new EventHandler(this.Drpdatafield_SelectIndexChanged);
But this line is giving error at **testUsrControl.Drpdatafield_SelectIndexChanged **. The error is "Drpdatafield_SelectIndexChanged" doesn't exist in UserControl.How can get the testUsrControl's events inside aspx page dynamically.
So How I can call getResultData () from Child.aspx.cs by clicking Button on the parent page.
The main difficulty is that I can't use Javascript to collect the information from TextBoxes because the task is more complicated and I can use only server methods.
The problem is that for any other TextBox on the page which is using this MasterPage, for example the login page, if you type your user name and password and hit Enter, The page is redirected to the SearchPage. If you click on login buttton everything works fine. How do I make sure hitting enter on the page in any other text box does not post back to SearchPage.aspx?
