Course calculate this is not so simple, and the GET BASKET event can take time
I wondered what the best way to do it. My 2 options are:
1. Try to cache the user basket.Yes - because this calculate make just one time (until the user change and add product to the basket etc')No - because this object keep on the server, and if I take a situation that many user fill their basket I don't want the server work slower because the consequence of this decision.
2. Of course the opposite to call this calculate each time than its make slow the make basket event but this not "sit" on the sever and I am not afraid of crash the server.

I created a shopping basket class, and included all the functions inside it that basket will need.
It works OK, but on every content page I need the lines:
Basket myBasket = new Basket();
myBasket.drawBasket();
Is there anyway to get that code to execute on every page without having to manually create the class and run it? Perhaps not use classes?
C# - Keeping Basket More Permanent?
Feb 22, 2011I need to keep my basket more permanent I have two options and I want to choose the best one.
I have eCommerce web site application in asp.net and there is a basket include products which are selected by users before, so options:
1- keep basket in database (consider the cost and time to store and retrieve information)
2- store my basket in Cookies (I don't know what the implementation is)
I couldn't use session because it is not permanent and clear by closing browser.
My goal is : when the user close the IE for 1 day or 2 days make ability to remember all products that already added to basket.
In addition, my basket is store in hash-table now, for example : {1:4055,2:4588,...} they are ID and product code(keys). they are all save in a hash table.

Oct 1, 2010I have 2 sites, one the main product site the other a secure site featuring the basket and checkout processes.
When a user clicks "add item to basket" I am creating a basket in a database and then adding the items to the basket. The theory was then to store the id from the database for the basket (the basketid) in a cookie, redirect the user to secure site, use the basket id from the cookie and display the contents in the basket.
However I am having trouble getting the secure site to use the same cookie. When I redirect the users to the secure site, the basket appears empty. I need to go back to the main site and then back to secure before the cookie appears.

But like I say it's having problems. I've tried replacing the cookies with session variables as well but it didn't work.

Sep 8, 2010I am busy building a shopping cart with cookies. I have datalist which I populate from the cookies with a delete button next to each cookie

Now the problem is that when I hit the delete / remove button to expire the cookie, what happens when repopulating the datalist is that it shows the original cookie with all it's values as well as a new entry where all the values are blank.

May 10, 2010I searched a lot of threads but still couldn't get my problem fixed. I have to update the "regform" table with two fields: session_ and session2. These two fields are inside the detailview edititem template which bounded to dropdown list drpsession1, drpsession2 separately. I wanted to pass the update parameters to the update sql UPDATE dbo.regform SET session_=@session_, session2=@session2 where id=@id
the @session_ is bounded to a drpsession1 and @session2 is bounded to drpsession2. I used
ControlID="ctl00$ContentPlaceHolder1$DetailsView1$drpsession1" to access the dropdown list within the detailview, but still couldn't do the updates. What's wrong with my code? Do I have to use the code behind to specify the update parameters? and How to do it? TIA.

Jan 17, 2010i want to build a datagrid bound to a datatable with several columns. One column has only a dropdownlist with the number of the rows in the datatable.

I know how to bind the columns to a grid and its no problem to create such a dropdown list with the content for me, too. But i dont know how to sort the complete datatabl after changing one value of one dropdown listbox.
So, how can i resort the values of a datatable column based on a given value and the datarow id?

In one page, a user can insert some stuff (name, phone .. etc) to the database. And then the user should be able to see the rows he added as a list automatically in a datalist (or other control). As he inserts rows, it appears in the datalist.
I tried to use update panel and inside it datalist, with a button as a trigger but it did n't work with me!

Sep 20, 2010I've got a single table, with project information and schedule information. To make the data easier to present, I created a tab control with two panels (a detailsview in each). The first tab is for project info, the second tab is for schedule info (again, all fields in the same table). The problem is, if i change info in both tabs, and then hit the update button, only the data from one tab is added to the table. I think this problem is simple to fix, and boils down to the way I have the page organized, but I can't quite figure it out.
I've boiled my code down to the following conceptualized structure:

When you click the update button, you return to the listview, but with only the information from your current tab saved. How can I get it to update from both detailsviews?

Sep 5, 2010We have two update panels on our webpage. Now first update panel is having button cancel. While second update panel is having a file upload control.
Now if the user uploads a file that is going to upload in about 2 mins, and in between, say after 30 seconds the user clicks the cancel button, the upload taking place in update panel 2 should stop.
