View 2 RepliesI am new to asp.net's membership controls. I am trying to figure out how to make a public profile page that will display information about a site member to other users. I thought I would be able to use the profile class and just pass in a parameter such as user name. But I tried:
Profile.GetProfile("username")
'Where username = name of profile I want to retrieve
Response.Write(Profile.Title)
Response.Write(Profile.Company)
However, if the user is logged in this codee just brings back their details, not those of the username requested. What am I doing wrong?
I have two member roles at my project:
1.) Administrator
2.) Member
From the toolbox in Visual Studio 2008, I have dragged and dropped the create user wizard into the stage. I aim that a guest can register itself and automatically join the "member" role. Not the role "administrator". How can I do that?
I have a requirement where I have to transfer a user from Web Site 1 on Server A to web Site 2 on Server B.
On Web Site 1, I have to provide controls to enter user id and password and which have to be validated on Web Site 2 on server B, after validating them I have to redirect the user to Web site 2.
what is best way fo doing it. code examples are greatly appreciated.
Note: On Web Site 2, user login functionality is already existing and it is provided by ASP.Net login control, am not sure how to handle the user login process from two different places.
or is it the best way to move Web Site 2 from Server B to Server A so that, the same login controls will be shown using Iframe on Web Site A.

View 1 RepliesI want to add two update buttons (approve and reject) in a gridview and when either of them are pressed they update the "status" field on that row. I can add one button using the inbuilt function of the sqldatasource but don't know how to setup two.I have tried the following but cant call the code for some reason;

i have the code to get the members of a local group example administrators
private void GetUserGrps()
{
using (DirectoryEntry groupEntry = new DirectoryEntry("WinNT://./Administrators,group"))
{
foreach (object member in (IEnumerable)groupEntry.Invoke("Members"))
{
using (DirectoryEntry memberEntry = new DirectoryEntry(member))
{
new GUIUtility().LogMessageToFile(memberEntry.Path);
}
}
}
Is there a way to get the groups a local user belongs to using directory services?
without using activedirectory or domain in it because i want for the local machine only and not for a domain.
I have following model class:
public class WebModel
{
public List<ArticleModel> Articles { get; set; }
}
public class ArticleModel
{
public int ID { get; set; }
public double ValueParam { get; set; }
}
Then I have the controller with the two actions:
[Authorize]
public ActionResult Index()
{
WebModel model = new WebModel();
ModelConverter.ConvertToModel(model, controller);
return View(model);
}
[Authorize]
[HttpPost]
[ValidateInput(false)]
public ActionResult Index(WebModel model, string saveButton)
{
ModelValidation.ValidateWebModel(model, ModelState);
if (ModelState.IsValid)
{
return RedirectToAction("Create", "Article");
}
ModelConverter.ConvertToModel(model, controller);
return View(model);
}
And this is my view:
<%@ Page Title="" Language="C#" MasterPageFile="~/Views/Shared/Site.Master" Inherits="System.Web.Mvc.ViewPage<Web.Models.WebModel>" %>
<asp:Content ID="Content1" ContentPlaceHolderID="MainContent" runat="server">
<%var controller = Session["controller"] as Web.Code.SessionController; %>
<%Html.BeginForm(); %>
<div>
<table width="100%">
<%foreach (var article in Model.Articles)
{%>
<tr style="text-align: right">
<td>
<%:Html.DropDownListFor(m=>m.Articles.FirstOrDefault(f=>f.ID == article.ID).ID, new SelectList(controller.CurrentProdukt.Articles.AsEnumerable(), "ID", "Name", article.ID)) %>
</td>
<td>
<%:Html.TextBoxFor(m => m.Articles.FirstOrDefault(f => f.ID == article.ID).ValueParam)%>
</td>
</tr>
<%} %>
</table>
</div>
<table style="width: 100%">
<tr>
<td>
<input type="submit" name="saveButton" value="Save" />
</td>
</tr>
</table>
<%Html.EndForm(); %>
</asp:Content>
If I press the submit button, I get to the second action method in the controller (the one with the HttpPost attribute). In this action, the object model itself is not null, but the "Articles" list inside is null.
I am using custom user membership in asp.NET so user is an object that contains members. One of the user's members is "IsCompanyAdmin".I have a few aspx pages for company administrators only.Is there any way to prevent those pages from non-administrator users using the web.config?
View 2 RepliesI am using Active Directory to authenticate users for an intranet site. I would like to refine the users that are authenticated based on the group they are in in Active Directory. Can someone show me or point me to directions on how to find what groups a user is in in ASP.NET 4.0 (VB)?
View 2 Repliesi have two types of role, Member and Staff, i also include profile property for both role
My problem is, I'm now unable to assign Member to the newly registered user, I forgotten what i had modify but last time I can do that without any problem.
Im unable to assign member to registered user is because when i login using the registered account, the LoginTemplate switch to a normal LoggedInTemplate instead of Member logged in template that allow member to access to their own page
But on the other hand, i can register my staff, login and access staff page without any problem
This is my code to assign username to role
[Code]....
This is what I have in the RegisterUser.aspx and yet when the admin registers a new user, then on clickiing the register button, the site logs in as the user who was just created.
protected void CreateUserWizard1_CreatedUser(object sender, EventArgs e)
{
Roles.AddUserToRole((sender as CreateUserWizard).UserName, "Department");
}
I am trying to redirect a user to a member only web page after the login page.
I have the following web forms.
LoginForm.aspx
PublicForm.aspx (anyone can see)
SecureForm.aspx (members only)
In the Web.config, I included
Code:
<authentication mode="Forms">
<forms name="Login"
loginUrl="LoginForm.aspx"
protection="All"
slidingExpiration="true"
path="/">
</forms>
</authentication>
<authorization>
<deny users="*"/>
</authorization>
<location path="PublicForm.aspx">
<system.web>
<authorization>
<allow users="?"/>
</authorization>
</system.web>
</location>
<location path="SecureForm.aspx">
<system.web>
<authorization>
<deny users="guest"/>
<allow users="member"/>
</authorization>
</system.web>
</location>
</authorization>
For the Login button in the LoginForm.aspx, I used this
Code:
FormsAuthentication.RedirectFromLoginPage(txtID.Text.Trim, False)
This code directs me to the Default.aspx which has nothing in it.
I will have a 404 if I take out the Default.aspx.
I'm trying to create a member section for my website and a non member section. I want the nonmember pages to have access to all the member pages but just not certain features like saving to the database. Is there a way to have the same page for both members and non members but have certain controls like buttons and other things that are only usable to the member that is logged in?
View 5 RepliesI'm working on this big project in MVC ASP.NET w VB.NETOne of my views is getting me headaches since a few and i'm not sure what's up.I've used the Begin.Form and Html.Encode methods alot in my other views and i never had any problems. Now this new Create.aspx view for one of my object called Automation is giving me multiple build errors such as those cited in the title plus
Error 184 'Context' is not a member of
'ASP.views_automatisation_create_aspx'.
BeginForm is not a member of 'Html'
Encode is not a member of HTML
My header is as follow (just like all of my other working views headers) :
\
<%@ Page Title="" Language="VB" MasterPageFile="~/Views/Shared/Site.Master" Inherits="System.Web.Mvc.ViewPage(Of XXXXX_XXXXX.Automatisation)" %>
handle site navigation and retaining user selections.
On Page 1:
I am using an <asp:ListBox as a filter for an <asp:GridView (gv.datasource=myobj.getdata(lb.selectedvalue))
This functions as expected and the gridview pagination functions as expected.
Each row on the grid provides an <asp:HyperLinkField to navigate to another page (Page 2).
This functions as expected.
On Page 2:
This provides functionality to perform some data creation/manipulation tasks.
It also provides a link to navigate to another page where other tasks can be performed (Page 3).
My query is in relation to returning from Page 3 to Page 2 to Page 1.
I would like to be able to return from Page 3 to Page2 to Page 1 and display earlier selections.
Currently, I am using a combination of querystring parameters and sessions vars on each Page_Load to achieve this.
Q1: What are the recommended ways to achieve this?
Q2: Is it possible to dynamically specify url parameters on a sitemap?
I have a user control that I am trying to make a function to return the site name www.siteName.com for my page but every time I try and use Request.Url.AbsoluteUri;
I get an error:
System.NullReferenceException: Object reference not set to an instance of an object
We have a site that allows a user to drill down through a list. The drill down works by the page calling itself with a different query string. From any level they can choose to go to a different page dealing with the subject matter for that level. All of that works great. However, we would like to put a breadcrumb on the site that allows the user to walk back up the path they used to get down.
Most of the breadcrumbs I have seen do not save the query string. Also, many use some kind of external data provider (database or XML) to build the site map. I am not sure how that would work with the recursive page calls. I don't mind looking at products or coding it myself. I have actualy built something, but it is quirky when people use the browser back button.
a vistor subscribes for newsletter by providing emailid.a mail should be automically sent to that email with verification link.when owner upon clicking verifcation link is confirmed to send newsletter.
View 1 RepliesThe ASP.net 3.5 SiteMapPath Control shows the site map but not necessarily the path thru a site. If a user links from one page to another using a hyperlink, the Site Map does not seem to show the actual path, only the site Map. If this is incorrect, please let me know.If it is correct, do you know of another control that will show the actual path thru the site in a session?
View 8 RepliesI have a requirement that whenever a user logs onto a website using forms based authentication [FBA] that the site checks whether they have a related domain NT user record. There will be a matching lookup table between the ASPNETDB membership database and related domain accounts for users.Whenever an FBA user logs in and a related domain account is located then the member should be redirected to an alternative site / URL which is Windows NT authenticated rather than FBA. Before transferring them I would like to be able to pre authenticate them on the windows domain rather than an additional NT Login dialog box coming up and asking them to enter the related NT credentials.Is it possible to programatically preauthenticate using NT credentials before redirecting a user to an NT authenticated site?Note: This isn't technically a single sign on style scenario. The FBA / NT authenticated sites are not related other than the relationship between the original FBA credentials and the NT credentials lookup.
View 1 RepliesI have developed simple user registeration application form in that after press submit button i am sending mail to user for welcome template as well as i am also get on mail for user details like name email id, and ip address.my problem is the user can receive the mail form my site but i am receive the any user details mail it doesnot shows any exception what is the problem i donno please
View 4 RepliesI am looking for an implementation similar to that of what is seen on banking sites. If a user comes to the site I want them to have to pass some form of registration IE (answer a question or enter in some key). If the user closes the browser and comes back to the site again from that machine they would just be able to provide login credentails to get in.
I am not sure if this is accomplished in ASP.NET by a cookie or what type of implementation.
Is there a way to get the page that the user has come from on my own site 100% of the time, there are no querystrings. so if they have clicked through from homepage or a category page I could get the url of the previous page.
View 2 RepliesI have been working on a site recently that relies heavily on user controls.
With the site nearly complete we are now looking to improve efficiency with some caching.
I have been looking at a number of options. In some cases a simple varybyparam fits the bill. However some user controls don't suit this model for whatever reason.
This sent me down the line of PartialCaching where I vary the cache by property.
This seems to work a treat if I declare the property in my markup, ie <uc7:JustPublished ID="JustPublished1" runat="server" categoryid="101" />
however if the control sits on a page that has a number of variants and I set the property in the codebehind eg categoryid = 101 it does not vary the cache.
