I'm creating an quiz application which queries the database and extracts the questions and choices. I use dynamically created controls such as a checkbox list and fill the values dynamically. How do I do this? Right now I have these functions:
array_random_init(); this creates a 10 element integer array from 1-20 - extract_question(i): this extracts a question indexed at i in DB, I created the controls and set the appropriate text in this function. - validate_question(i); this is called by button_click and validates the question i according to DB.
I understand I have to recreate the controls in Page_init on postback, but what should it look like? Do I need to add "if IsPostBack" in page_init, or do I create the controls in page_init() and reset their properties in page_load when I use extract_question(i)? Also, I cannot seem to clear the selected boxes on postback, I added page directive "enableviewstate=false" but it doesn't work.

n a form I have multiple group of controls which are grouped using validation group property. I want to assign validation group to asp.Button dynamically on client side using javascript on the base of item selected in drop down list.
Here is JavaScript which I am using, but it is not working. It shows validation group undefined but actually a default group is defined.

I am absoluetly confused. My web app has a checkbox list that my code is looking to see if the user checked it. Like I said, very simple stuff... Here's the code:

The odd thing is that when it gets to this bit of code it just moves right past it like it wasn't checked. The same thing happens when I use a single checkbox (rather than a checkbox list). I've tried a bunch of different ways to make the code work but I'm left to the conclusion that I'm just not telling it to do this correctly. Either that or my project is messed up somehow.I say that my project is messed up because when I add an object to the page in Design mode, it doesn't write the source code. So when I save and close, all the modifications are mysteriously gone. This happens on multiple PC's...So, is the checkbox problem just me not doing something correctly or is my web project messed up?
I have a situation where I want to show the selected records out of total records for a product of an employee
1) There is a checkbox list bind to <List> of objects from object datasource (For total items in list)
2) Now I want to check the selected items for a particular record in this list
3) For this purpose I have another list of <List> selected items returned by data access layer (For selected items for that employee )
4) How do I bind the selected objects with the total items list ?

Is there a way to not trigger the validation until a checkbox on the form is checked? We have a form that a user does some work in, so they could be adding data throughout the day and saving it, but when it is complete and they check the completed box I want it to run the validation.

I have tinkered with this a bit, and would like to know how to require fields based on the status of the checkbox.
The page I am referring to is located at www.libertyhtc.com/billsubmit.aspx.
Under Step 3, say, if a user checked the Television box, the textboxes for service provider, and authentication would be required. the upload file can be left blank if the user chooses to do so. This would be true of the Internet, Home Phone, and Cell Phone areas.
Now, later on, once the user clicks submit bill, I would like to have it go to a page that would bring up a page with the service agreement. The service agreement would pull data that they just put into the form before clicking that button. This step is necessary to allow the user to print out the page for their records.
Finally, there should be a button that, when clicked, will send all the data in the first form (located at www.libertyhtc.com/billsubmit.aspx) to a specified email account. I have sent data to an email before, but the code sample I used wanted the stmp details and logon information in the source code of the page, and for obvious reasons, i dont want users to know this.
I can't seem to be able to get any validation controls to work with checkbox lists. I tried adding a custom validator but just get an error message. Are there any work around because I would like to add custom validation and required validators?

This is something thats been bugging me for a while. I can't even remember if I fixed this before or not. What I'm trying to do is display a single error message for all validation controls on my page. I think this is possible if you write your own javascript function for a Custom Control, hiding the error message, and displaying it on a single control. Writting all the javascript for this and then refering to the control with "GetElementByID". But can I use controls like RequiredFieldValidator, and make them display messages on one single control without having to write javascript for each one of them? One single message on one single literal or label or whatever, at the bottom of the page, that says "fill in the compulsary fields" or something
similar. I find it very annoying having a list of validators underneath each other with different messages.
I am using a MultiView control inside a FormView to break my form into more manageable sections for the end-user. I am trying to make it so that each time the Next button is clicked, the entire form is validated and a list of the fields that have not yet been completed show up in the Validation Summary.
I would like my users to be able to continue through the MultiView 'wizard' even if they haven't completed all the fields -- they should be able to come back to them later. But I would like the ValidationSummary to display the fields they've not completed that are required as a reminder of what to come back to if possible.
I've tried playing around with Page.IsValid with no success.
