How do I read a file located in a same folder where my page resides in in ASP.NET (C#)? I have a page called mypage.aspx and I'm trying to read in a file called foo.txt residing in a same directory as this page.
Is there a way to open that file for reading with File.OpenRead()? Providing a relative path like File.OpenRead("foo.txt") fails b/c of the location of the file.

i'm developing a web application using asp.net 3.5 sp1, my issue is , i need to upload multiple files asynchronously.
for that i used the ajax control toolkit "async file upload", where i can only upload single file and cannot track the filenames after uploading, so i go for the "file uploaded ajax"
[URL]
when i started including the cascading dropdown in that page("mainpage.aspx") , an error occured in the page, ie; when i click add files of the "file upload ajax", the "file upload" control some times doesnot show, so i created another page("testpage.aspx") and included the "file upload" control in that page and created an iframe in the "mainpage.aspx" and call the "testpage.aspx", now it is working fine, but i was not able to track the filename, can i access the control inside that iframe from the "mainpage.aspx" ?
mainpage.aspx

<form id="form1" runat="server" enctype="multipart/form-data">

A WCF web service with the right class and method attributes can be accessed as a JavaScript file in a script tag. That is:
<script type=".." src="http://someserver/someservice.wcs/js"></script>
Is it possible to do the same thing with System.Web.ApplicationServices.AuthenticationService?
I'm creating a PhoneGap application developed in static HTML/JavaScript, so I cannot use the script manager.

I am using asp.net 3.5
I have an iframe. I want to go to the parent page of the iframe by clicking a button that resides in a page within the iframe.
I need to do it using server side code and not using javascript (because this will occur when javascript is disabled).

I have created an AJAX style file download (using an iframe) and all works well... however, I need to detect when the iframe has received a response... see below:
Javascript:
function download() {
var ifrm = $('#iframedownload')[0];
ifrm.src = '/downloadfile.aspx?fileid=whatever';
ifrm.onreadystatechange = function () { // Checking
if (this.readyState == 'complete')
alert("I would really like this piece to work!");
};
}
C# for downloadfile.aspx:
Response.AddHeader("content-disposition", "attachment; filename="" + zipFileName + """);
Response.AddHeader("Content-Length", respBytes.Length.ToString());
Response.ContentType = "application/octet-stream";
Response.BinaryWrite(respBytes);
Response.End();

The problem is I had to create a draftResult class in order to show data that resides in two different tables using linq which means if i want to add or remove a column i will need to do so in the draftresult and in my linq. Here's what my setup looks like: I have two tables (draft, lookUpStatus)
draft table columns
idname,status id
lookupStatus
idtitle
public class draftResult {
public string draftName {get; set;}
public string status {get; set;}
}
I want to list the draft name and the status title in a table view. In order to do this, I wrote the following linq in a method in my sqlRepository class and return it to a IQueryable<draftResult>. My controller instanstiates the sqlRepository object and invokes GetDraftListing().
public class sqlRepository {
private Table<Draft> _draft;
private Table<LookUpStatus> _lookupubStatus;
public IQueryable<draftResult> GetDrafLtisting() {
return (from draft in _draft
join status in _lookuptatus
on draft.StatusID equals status.ID
select new draftResult
{
draftName = draft.name,
status = status.Title
});
}
}
The above process works but does not seem as flexible and i'm trying to get a better understanding of MVC and LINQ.

I have a user control with following hyperlink:
<asp:HyperLink ID="MakeOrderLink" runat="server" onclick="return MakeOrderLink_onClick(this);" />
javascript function redirects based on provided parameters to another page
function MakeOrder_onClick(sender) {
//param1, param2
document.location.href = sender.href + '&count=' + param1 + '&date=' + param2;
return false;
}
This user control is placed on .aspx page, which I need to provide as an iframe.
I need the page to open in new window.
MakeOrderLink.Target = "_blank" works when the control is placed only in .aspx page but I can not figure out how to redirect when it is nested two levels down (link inside user control contained in iframe contained in another .aspx page).

Im looking for a way to redirect to another page, when i click a link in the iframe. i dont want just the iframe to redirect, but the whole window.
is this possible?
preferably in javascript or in asp.net if possible
EDIT: When i try the answers i get redirected to the source of the iframe, not to the source of the site the iframe lies on... Ill show you the code
function redirect() {
window.top.location.href = "./Nyheter.html";
}
As i dont want the code to be static, so that i can use it on many pages without changing the url, i want to do it this way, alt. get the url from db... but preferrably this way, Solution? Also, forgot to mention. The pages are not on the same domain, they are on different ones..

have a asp.net application where I'm trying to load few documents into memory and print it. I learned that I can't use PrintDialog in a web app and the only way is to print using javascript by writing the content into a (hidden) iFrame.My question is how can Silverlight help me with this? Is it possible to show print dialog and get printer settings and print without a preview by sending the files directly to the printer? How hard it is achieve to using SL?

I have a custom ASP.NET solution deployed to the ISV directory of an MS Dynamics CRM 4.0 application. We have created a custom entity, whose data entry requires more dynamism than is possible through the form builder within CRM. To accomplish this, we have created an ASP.NET form surfaced through an IFRAME on the entity's main form.Here is how the saving functionality is currently laid out:
There is an ASP.NET button control on the page that saves the entity when clicked. This button is hidden by CSS.The button click event is triggered from the CRM OnSave javascript event.The event fires and the entity is saved.Here are the issues: When the app pool is recycled, the first save (or few) may: not save be delayed (ie. the interface doesn't show an update, until the page has been refreshed after a few sec)Save and Close/New may not save For issue 1.1 and 2, what seems to be happening is that while the save event is fired for the custom ASP.NET page, the browser has moved on/refreshed the page, invalidating the request to the server. This results in the save not actually completing.
Right now, this is mitigated with a kludge javascript delay loop for a few seconds after calling the button save event, inside the entity OnSave event.Is there any way to have the OnSave event wait for a callback from the IFRAME?
