i am trying to add new content to an access database using data services - this is the code i am using at the moment:
[Code]....
But this is the error that i am getting
[Code]....
i have been trying to user different appostraphis ( " ' ") but i get the same error
the thing that i am more confused about is that i have another service which adds data to another DB table, and it does work (!) so effectively this is a dublication (with different dataset names)
I have a report (Reporting Services) integrated into an ASP.NET that shows dropdownlists to select report parameter values. The dropdownlists are populated using direct database selects, though I see the report RDL files do contain the paramter values and datasets as defined in the report designer. Is it possible to obtain the report parameters "available values" in ASP.NET to populate the dropdownlists? This would avoid some code duplication.
Update. If the parameter doesn't use a query for available values, the following works:
foreach (ValidValue value in this.ReportViewerControl.ServerReport.GetParameters()["myParameter"].ValidValues) { this.DropDownListControl.Items.Add(new ListItem(value.Label, value.Value)); }
How to Find All the Web Services and Windows Services Running on a Server in ASP.Net. I have the server details with me and want to find all the Web services running on it.
I am using Visual Studio 2010 Release candidate1. I have to deploy my web application which consists of a website, certain window services, certain WCF services and Sql Server 2005 database.I read Vishal Joshi's blog(http://vishaljoshi.blogspot.com/2009/09/overview-post-for-web-deployment-in-vs.html) detaing Web Package in VS2010. I want to know how to deploy window services and WCF services using Web Package. Also, I want to create a web setup (.msi) for deployment instead of Web Package so that the .msi takes care of all the application and database deployment like the web package does.
i just came up with the reading, Writing and adding values dynamically in web.Config in asp.net. Have many ideas in mind, but i just wana know what is the best way of adding values in web config dynamically.
I have a calculator page that calculates the carbon footprint of electricity and water, which has two textboxes and two drop down lists and a button.
When a user enters a number in the two text boxes, each number is multiplied by the other number given in the dropdown list ,and then clciks on the submit button he/she gets the result in a label as well as the values he entered.
what I need to do is enable the user to add another calculation in the same form and i need the label to keep the result. so, the user can enter new values in the form as the fields will be cleared and clicks on the calculate buttin again, gets the result and the total result is added to the previouse one.
i have an insert statement, and what i would like to do iswhen the value of table1 is entered, that value enters into table 2, so for example, heres my insert statement
INSERT INTO Cards (Name, Desc, id) VALUES ( @Name, @Desc, @id) INSERT INTO CardTP (NameSet, Desc, id)
Now, what i would like to do is that, i will specify all those individual values myself, BUT, when it now comes to the "id" field, when an id is entered for the "Cards" table, the SAME id should also be entered in the id column of the "CardTP" table. how i could enter the value of one table, into another tables row (having the same value) as i want the Cards and CardsTP table to be related in the id fields.

I guess the code is totally right and doesn't require any change in it,, however am getting an error which says "Conversion failed when converting the varchar value '11/11/2010' to data type int."check the attached file ..
I have a SQL table used by a third party application that I have very little control over. The table contains a list of assemblies and their corresponding serial numbers. The tables primary key is a composite of the assembly number and serial number. There is no field I can use, reliably as an index.
I have an application I'm working on that pulls all the serial numbers from that table based on the assembly in a SQL View. I've then written code that pulls the serial numbers from that view based on the part number in a textbox on the form. That functionality works fine but I had both my datatextfield and datavaluefield set to the serial number. I've created another empty listbox that I would like to populate from a serial number or serial numbers being selected in the first. That is not working, I believe, because there is no index for the list.
My question is...How can I add an index value to each serial number as they populate from the SQL table. I've included the code below that I have pulling the serial number values.
This is an ASP.net VB webform.
Code: Private Sub FillSnAvailList() Dim strconnect1 As String = ("Data Source=MyDataSource") Dim con1 As New SqlConnection(strconnect1) con1.Open() Dim cmd1 As New SqlCommand("SELECT [sPartNum], [SerialNum] FROM [V_MaxSerialNum] WHERE ([sPartNum] = @sPartNum)", con1)
By using AJAX am trying to call a webmethod in Code behind. In that webmethod I want to put some dynamic grid data and text box data to session. But WEBMETHOD is static, so we wont get access to Session and web controls. Is there any other method to achieve that goal.in window.onbeforeunload calling a script, that script calls a webmethod. This is the procedure i am following.
I'm just wondering if anyone can assist me with this gridview problem
I have this Sql statement that outputs a gridview like this
Job Location Activity 1 Activity 2 Activity 3
Job1 Location1 0 0 1
Job2 Location2 1 0 1
Job3 Location3 0 1 0
* These columns are placeholders
I want to include a footer total that looks like
Job Location Activity 1 Activity 2 Activity 3
Job1 Location1 0 0 1
Job2 Location2 1 0 1
Job3 Location3 0 1 0
Final Total 4
Im not binding the database to the gridview via design view I'm binding it programatically in the default.aspx.cs file
So far the only tutorials I've encountered are ones the have the database bound through design view and gridviews with only one column that can be added. In my particular example I have multiple columns that need to be added and I have already bound the data to the gridview.
Is it possible to add values from different database rows to a dropdownlist?
I'm currently trying to add both ItemSizeSmall and ItemSizeMedium, but through trial and error I can still only add one row from the database. I want the dropdownlist to display "Small" and "Medium" etc.
I guess my primary question is: How do I create a database with product size attributes?
I apologize if this thread should be in another forum, but if the dropdownlist can display two database rows I'll settle with that solution.
I am using HTML controls while using Ajax in my .net project. Now I want to make my text box to be autocomplete. I am fetching a data using a query for the respective typed text but i am not sure how to bind that data to text box and show it the way it is being displayed in google and other famous sites. I would also love to know the way using web services. Which way is more efficient?
Makes it sense to use ASP.NET applications together with WCF RIA Services or WCF Data Services (to encapsulate the data access layer) ? Or are these technolgies only useful for Silverlight applications.
Below is my function which insert textbox value into grid view .this work fine .
Now I want to compare grid view row with textbox value if already exist in grid view then it give me massage already exist with same name means duplicate data cannot insert into grid view
I am fairly new to ASP.Net and web programming in general and I am having issues trying to add values from a dropdown list in my gridview to another table.
Here is my scenario. I have 2 tables in my SQL Express DB. When editing the values of table2 in a gridview, I would like to show some data from table1 in a dropdown so users can select a value from table 1 and enter that value in table 2.
I have the Gridview setup to show table2 data.
I created a field template and inserted my dropdown list and linked it to my table1 data source.
When I run my web form, I can click to edit one of the fields in the gridview, and my dropdown list correctly displays the data from table 1, but when I try to update the table2 with the dropdown value, it doesn't correctly update. The row in table2 never updates.
posting the dropdown value from table 1 into the appropriate field in table2..
Again, I am new to this and have been following the tutorials etc on this site, but can't find one pertaining to this topic.
So I have a gridview control and I am binding it's datasource dynamically base on a dropdownlist. The gridview contains autogenerated columns with auto generated edit buttons. The datasource binded to the gridview is IQueryable<T> where T will be different for different datasource.
My detail problem is below:
A GridView binded to datasource dynamically with all autogenerated columns. When user click edit link, it will display value in autogenerated textboxes.
When user click update link, I am able to capture the user entered value in the textboxes in RowUpdating event, then pass those values to Linq update function to update the database. Now, the problem begin when I try to dynamically add validation controls to each editing row. In RowDataBound event, I am checking the editrowindex then adding validation control to gridview cell and pointing to cell.controls[0] which is the textbox control when the row is in edit mode, I am dynamically setting the textbox control id so that the validation control can set controltovalidate property. The validation control works, but the updating function is setting everything on the grid to empty string.
I am check the textbox text value in the loop, which returns "" for all cells except the id column. It was returning the correct value before I add the validation control. I guess since I added the validation control on rowdatabound event, will it rerender it's own autogenerated textbox in edit mode so that the text value of textbox no longer available in rowupdating event?
Is there a better or correct way to get the cell textbox value? I am using ((TextBox)dc.Controls[0]).Text where dc is DataControlFieldCell in rowupdating event.
I am getting int values from the stored procedure. But when i bind this datasource with the gridview i am seeing the values being converted into float. i am using Text='<% # Bind("Quantity") %' I wanna that to be displayed as int, with out zero'seg: let the value be 233, when i bind that its getting displayed as 233.00
