Ajaxcontroltoolkit - Ajax Toolkit AsyncFileUpload - "The File Is Attached Is Invalid" Error

Feb 22, 2010

I'm trying to use the AsyncFileUpload control from the Asp.net Ajax Control Toolkit (Sept 30, 2009 stable build: 30930) . I've created a demo application and the control works fine. Files upload and all is well. When I try to use the control in my real application, I'm always receiving an error stating "The file attached is invalid". The AsyncFileUpload control returns this when the file uploaded is null.

To isolate the problem, I created a new master page exactly like the master page in my demo app. I also created an aspx page exactly like the page in my demo app. The upload still fails with a "The file attached is invalid" error. I also compared the web.config for the real app and the demo app and couldn't identify any differences that should matter. The code below is the test code in my real app. This code is exactly the same as the functioning code in the demo app with the exception of having different class names and file names. The web.config listed below is from the real app with the appsettings and connectionstrings removed. Real App Test Master Page:

How Can I Restrict The File Type In The File Browse Menu Of An AsyncFileUpload AJAX Control Toolkit

Jul 28, 2010

I would like to restrict what they see in the file upload dialog, which is set to "All Files" by default. I understand how to validate that they only uploaded a certain file type, that is not the question here. I would just like to know how to default the file type in the file selection dialog.

Is there any way to change this to "PNG only" or "*.png"?This is using AsyncFileUpload in the ASP.NET AJAX Control Toolkit.

Use The AsyncFileUpload From The AjaxControlToolkit In A .Net 2.0 Project?

Jul 24, 2010

I have a project that for political reasons cannot be moved to a later version of .Net and would love to have a drop-in control for uploading files better than the old FileUpload control.

I'd like to use the AsyncFileUpload control, but it's not in the latest version of the toolkit that is supported in the 2.0 framework.

I've looked at some of the flash based controls, but integrating them would trigger a full regression test of the project I'm on (multiple weeks).

We've lived with the FileUpload control because our files are small, but the error handling when a file gets larger won't be unacceptable much longer.

I just found Uploadify. At first I didn't think it would work, but I checked out the forums any way. I found this link [URL] It works great. I can do whatever I want to in the upload handler.

C# - AjaxControlToolkit's AsyncFileUpload Misbehaving When Deployed Online?

Jan 1, 2011

In case it matters, the following is inside a toolkit popup, which has an update panel in it.

<p>
<asp:Label Text="Picture" runat="server" Width="75"></asp:Label>
<ajaxToolkit:AsyncFileUpload ID="MediaPicture" runat="server" Width="200"[code]....

The javascript functions just block / release a submit button, to prevent problems during uploads.This works fine on localhost, but when deployed online on a GoDaddy server, I can't seem to upload files over a few KB, even when locally I could upload bigger files (~2MB)...I can't seem to find the reason for this behavior, could it be on the IIS? I read something about the app pool clearing before the upload could complete, could this be happening?

Btw, just in case, server-side I just take the picture out of this control

byte[] picture = MediaPicture.FileBytes ?? (string.IsNullOrEmpty(mediaID) ? null : Media.SelectByID(int.Parse(mediaID)).GetPicture());

There's some extra logic in there about whether I'm in edit mode or not, and if the current record has a picture, I'll take that over no picture, And then I store it on the database.

AJAX :: Error - Cannot Resolve Symbol 'AjaxControlToolkit'

May 2, 2010

I was working with the previous version of the AjaxControlToolkit (I had the source project in my solution, just in case I needed to debug something) and everything worked ok, now I've downloaded the lastest build (40412) and I've choosen to remove that project and only use the binaries (of 40412). I added this line in the web.config (inside <controls>) to have it prepared for all the pages, and avoid the need to use the @register in each one of them <add namespace="AjaxControlToolkit" assembly="AjaxControlToolkit" tagPrefix="ajaxtoolkit"/>

Now, only have the binaries I think I should used

<add tagPrefix="ajaxToolkit" namespace="AjaxControlToolkit" assembly="AjaxControlToolkit, Version=3.5.40412.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=31BF3856AD364E35"/>

and inside <assemblies> this line

<add assembly="AjaxControlToolkit, Version=3.5.40412.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=28f01b0e84b6d53e"/>

I don't know what should I write as PublicKeyToken, I'm getting Cannot resolve symbol 'AjaxControlToolkit' and, of course, my UserControls that use the AjaxControlToolkit are giving me error.

Error - AjaxControlToolkit Requires .NET Ajax 4.0 Scripts?

Apr 8, 2010

trying to get the latest version of ACT I have (3.0.31106) working with a VS 2010 website, targetting .Net 4.0.

I have researched this and can't find a definitive answer.

I was using the AutoComplete Extender with no problems in VS2008 (ACT version 3.0.30512.1).

In creating this new VS2010 website I thought I ought to also check and get the latest version of the ACT.

Now, when running the new website I get the error other people get,

AjaxControlToolkit requires ASP.NET Ajax 4.0 scripts. Ensure the correct version of the scripts are referenced. If you are using an ASP.NET ScriptManager, switch to the AjaxScriptManager in System.Web.Ajax.dll, or use the ToolkitScriptManager in AjaxControlToolkit.dll.

What is the best approach here? I don't see the point ofusing the ToolkitScriptManager when the website already has the regular v4.0 ScriptManager.

I seem to have resolved this - fingers crossed - by downloading source version 49157 and then opening the .Net4 soultion file and building in VS2010. Then I got the AjaxControlToolkit.dll file from this project for use in my new website. This works fine now (for the autocomplete extender, at least).

AJAX :: Asyncfileupload Control - Select A File It Saves Another File?

Jan 23, 2010

I am using this control to give the user the possibility to upload up to 5 pics. Well, it generally works fine but i started to test it using a folder full of pics. This folder contains more than 900 pics which are named from "DSC_8138.jpg" to "DSC_9255.jpg" (some has been deleted).

When i try to upload the pic "DSC_8138.jpg" it saves the pic "DSC_8168.jpg".

When i try to upload the pic "DSC_8141.jpg" it saves the pic "DSC_8147.jpg".

There is not any clear critieria in this.

I am quite sure that my code in the AsyncFileUpload1_UploadedComplete method cannot cause this problem. Actually, when i try to upload the pic "DSC_8141.jpg" the file name is still "DSC_8141.jpg" even though the pic uploaded is the "DSC_8147.jpg". in any case, the control deals with the uploading process.

AJAX :: Error While Adding Reference To Latest Version Of AjaxControlToolkit

Sep 24, 2010

I am a bit new to ASP.Net Ajax and as such new to Ajax itself. I have a site which uses ASP.Net Ajax. It used the version AjaxControlToolkit version 3.0.30512.0. I have now changed it to version 3.5.40412.2 by deleting the old reference and adding a reference to the latest one . I build the soultion and everything appears fine witjhout any errors. But the site fails to load showing a yellow page with the message AjaxControlToolkit Version="3.5.40412.2" missing reference to 'AjaxControlToolkit.ExtenderBase.Base Scripts.js.BaseScripts.js'. What does this mean ?
