Asp - Listview Inside UserControl Raises Full Postback
Jul 28, 2010
I have UserControl and within that control i have asp:ListView. Inside the ListView i have a asp:LinkButton. When i click on the LinkButton the control raises full postback, no matter if the UserControl is inside UpdatePanel or is not.
I'm having few UpdatePanels on my master page. And then, I have RadTreeViewcontrol on the page, that should cause partial postback each time node is clicked. Everything works fine there. Since I'm using the same tree on some other pages, I moved this functionality to UserControl. Stuff I've done before, so no problem. Moved some code to ascx, created some events. Everything always worked for me well. But not now. RadTreeView is nested inside UserControl, and this control on master page with update panels, see below:
Imports Telerik.Web.UI Public Class ProductTree Inherits System.Web.UI.UserControl Public Event NodeExpand As EventHandler(Of ProductTreeNodeExpandEventArgs) Public Event SelectedNodeChange As EventHandler Protected Sub ProductTree_NodeExpand(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As RadTreeNodeEventArgs) _ Handles treeProductTree.NodeExpand Dim nodeId As Integer = CInt(e.Node.Value) Dim evetArgs = New ProductTreeNodeExpandEventArgs(nodeId) RaiseEvent NodeExpand(Me, evetArgs) //'some logic End Sub Protected Sub ProductTree_OnNodeClick(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As RadTreeNodeEventArgs) _ Handles treeProductTree.NodeClick RaiseEvent SelectedNodeChange(Me, New System.EventArgs()) End Sub End Class
What I don't know is: why is this causing full postback instead of partial? I suspect that it may have something to do with raising my for SelectedNodeChange, but I don't know how to deal with it other way. I need to let other components know, that node selection changed. How can I improve this to make it work with UpdatePanels?
I have a ListView showing just a list of concatenated strings obtained from different field of the objects of the datasource. A LinkButton (with CommandName="Edit") in each row Event handlers for OnItemDataBound and OnItemEditing A UserControl in EditTemplate.
Now the problem is, I don't know how to use Bind expression in the UserControl. I mean, how to populate this usercontrol when the linkbutton is clicked? (I tried capturing the control in the OnItemEditing handler. But FindControl returned null, as that handler is called before going to edit mode.)

I have a user control with linkbuttons (used for paging) and a repeater inside an update panel. The paging works correctly, but is causing a full page postback every time I click through to the next page.
The update panel looks like this:
[code]....
So far, I have tried adding an async postback trigger for the user control, which does cause an async postback but does not update the rest of the text in the update panel. In otherwords, the async postback occurs and the next page shows up, but the original text in the repeater is there as well just below it.
I have also confirmed that I have IDS set on my linkbuttons, since that can trigger a full postback inside an update panel.
I have tried changing the update panel mode (Always, Conditional, ChildrenAsTriggers, etc.).
None of it makes a difference - the only thing that actually causes an async postback is to use the trigger, but then the rest of the content in the update panel is not updated, so I get duplicate content.
How do I conditionally trigger a full page postback from a link button inside of an update panel?
I have a custom control that contains its own updatepanel with a link button nested inside of it. When the link button is pressed I want its event handler to have the option of either letting the control update as normal or doing a full postback on the page.
Here is the control hierarchy:
Page Custom Control UpdatePanel LinkButton
Event handler Pseudo code:
LinkButton Click Handler Begin If is a partial post back AND a full postback is needed Page.DoFullPostback End If End Handler
Note: I aways need the partial postback to happen. I was considering injecting a __DoPostback in the controls markup but this seems hacky to me.
I have a page with an UpdatePanel with a UserControl in it. That UserControl contains a GridView with a nested UserControl that seems to disappear when the parent UserControl is rebound. I cannot for the life of me figure out why the child UserControl disappears. The code works beautifully on the first load, but any partial postback causes the "Pick" UserControl to disappear.
I've a ASP.Net page (Default.aspx) which will load UserControl (ucontrol.ascx) dynamically into an UpdatePanel. By using UpdatePanel, we believe we're able to prevent the entire page to be posted-back.
My problem is, within the UserControl, we have some form controls, such as inputs and buttons; after the UserControl is loaded, clicking on any button inside the UserControl will cause the UpdatePanel to be blanked. During the investigation, I found that, breakpoints within the Button1_Click() in the code-behind for the UserControl is never reached. Please reference to the code below, this references to [REFERENCE]1.
Dim iCounter as Integer Dim iQuantity as Integer = 10 Protected Sub btnFoo_Click Handles btnFoo Yadda For i as Integer = iCounter to iQuantity - 1 //do something with AsyncPostBackTrigger until iCounter = iQuantity - 1 //then trigger a full postback Next End Sub
I am new to the concept and feel like there must be something really easy that I am missing.
I implemented the AsyncFileUpload control on a web page. This web page requires uploaded files to appear in a gridview. The gridview contains the following columns: "File Name", "Confidential" Check Box, and a "Remove" button to remove the uploaded file.
Since the AsyncFileUpload postback does not do a full page postback, I need to "force" a postback on the OnClientUploadComplete event of the AsyncFileUpload control in order to render the gridview after uploading a file. In the OnClientUploadCompleteevent, I use javascript to call __doPostBack. In this postback, I only bind my gridview and display the file information (I don't re-save the file).
The problem: On the AsyncFileUpload's first "partial" postback, the file is successfully uploaded, as expected. On the second postback that I force with __doPostBack, the file is re-uploaded. You can verify this by using Google Chrome, which displays the upload progress. The behaviour is as follows: After selecting the file, the progress increments from 0% to 100% and the file is uploaded. After this, the __doPostBack executes, and you can see the upload progress increment again from 0% to 100%.
How can I make sure the Gridview is properly populated, but that the file is not uploaded twice?
I attached a sample solution which contains the issue:
I am having trouble finding how to solve the following issue :
I am using nested listviews to display Sales and Sales details.
The main ListView displays General Information about Sales and the child ListView displays the detailed information about one sale. the child listview is shown only when the user clicks on a link (see included code, DataBind is made on PageLoad) :
ASPX Markup Code :
[Code]....
C# Behind Code :
[Code]....
If I removed the datapager part, I can manage show/hide the child list view on the button click event. but if I want to use the DataPager with the PreRender event handling, the child listview is not longer shown on button click.
I have a masterpage and inside that masterage is a user control that has a toolbar with a save button. I then have an aspx page that inherits form t he master page. In that page I have and updatepanel. Is it possible to set the post back trigger to the Save button inside the usercontrol?
I try to datbind a listview which is inside another listview InsertItemTemplate.
[Code]....
I'm binding the listivew in the parent listview onitemcreated events. I receive the error Databinding methods such as Eval(), XPath(), and Bind() can only be used in the context of a databound control.
I have a ListView1 control that his <ItemTempleae> has a another ListView2. ListView2 is surrounded by <UpdatePanel> with trigger and also UpdateMode="Conditional". But, I don't know why ListView2 is not being update as it should, I need to refresh all the page to see the new data enter to ListView2 only. What is the problem? How can it be fixed? I think that the problem is something in the structure. There are about 10 ListView2 with updatepanel surronded them, so when I am looking to update a specific ListView2, it doesn't know which one to update because there are lots of them. What to do in order to solve that problem?
When the FormView is in Edit mode, ddlCategory is populated as expected by calling GetCategories(), which returns a List of categories. However, when the ListView is in Insert mode, ddlCountry is empty. I put a break point in GetCountries(), but it never gets called. If I change the name of the method, I get an error. So it recognizes the method at compile time, but does not call it at run time. I'm guessing this is an embedded binding issue of some kind, but I'm hoping someone can save me a lot of time by pointing out the solution.
I am loading the autocomplete extender properly but I need the PK from the selectedValue. I have looked at other examples and they do NOT show how to drill into the tabcontainer, then drill into the listview, and then locate the extender value. Here is what I have so far. My "TABCONTAINER" value shows the extender correctly but I am unable to locate it.
I need the ability to check a box and then store or remove the text of the checkbox clicked to my sql server database. see my code below that is written in vb.

I have run into what seems to be a very famous problem: My updatepanel fires a full postback instead of a async postback. The normal solution is to give all controls you add dynamically an ID, which I have done, but I still get a full postback instead of my async postback. Here's the code:
So, I actually add an AsyncPostBackTrigger to the menu, so the ItemCommand event should be registered. What happends when I click an item in this contextmenu, is a full postback happends. I have been trying to play with the ChildrenAsTriggers property without help.
I'd like to programmatically force a full page postback to occur after an event is fired by one of the child controls. I can't add any triggers to make this work so it will have to be done via code.
I have an UpdatePanel with a button that, when clicked, calls a WebService. I attached an UpdateProgress to it that shows a "loading" gif while it runs. Everything works fine, but I need a full PostBack once the operation is complete because I'm using my company's custom template that displays an info message and enables a "Next" button upon completion.I've had partial success with the endRequestHandler but I'm not sure what to put in my function to force a full postback once the UpdatePanel has run its course. I'm getting into the endRequestHandler function but I have been unable to successfully get a full PostBack. Here is my current code (including several attempts), the bottom part being the focus:
