Building A Page To List Files In Directory On Web Server And Network Drives?
May 17, 2010
I have seen some examples on other sites , but since im not familiar enough with DirectoryInfo and Files from the System.IO namespace, i dont know how to change it to fit my needs. So i found a very simple example that works, but i have some questions.
Here is the code i found:
[Code]....
This works great and lists the files in my root directory.
#1 - What i need to know is how to accomplish the same thing but in a format i can control, this code simply displays the files at the top of my page and pushes everything down. So does anyone know of a good and simple tutorial written in C#?
#2 - I also need to be able to setup the code so that certain files within the directories are not displayed, as in the code behind files and other files to be determined by the business.
How do I do the old chestnut of scanning a directory of documents and building a web page that displays the list with built in links to the documents. Also the usual UPLOAD and DELETE functions would be good in order to add more or remove documents from the web form.
I come from a ColdFusion background where this would easily be acheived with the <CFDIRCTORY> and <CFFILE> tags...... !!
i have a folder on the server which contains jpeg files,mp4 files and also xml files...........
i would like to transfer the folder to a centralised storage server ,i would like to pass the credentials from the web page itself,,,,,,,,
what do i use for it
the storage server is within the network and all it needs is credentials to copy the folder which i m ready to pass....but i dont know the code which has to be used......
I have a web in ASP.NET+VB code and there is a folder named POLICY and there are pdf files in it. i want to display the list of files in a aspx file with hyperlink so that the files listed can be opened...
I have implemented this in my website as per my requirement. [URL] It is working fine in local. But i moved that code to dev server today... it is showing all the drives of dev server. (But my fuctionality is it should show all the drives of local computer who is accessing this ste).
I am trying to open different types of files that I have uploaded on my sql server database. I would like to display all the list of files in Gridview. When user click the link it should open download dialog box and should be able to open its particular applications such as word, excel, browsers etc.
How to access to the folder drive by using VB.NET or C# in the code-behind (securely: with username and password) for the users to be able to view images on the popup window?
See the code :
Protected Sub BtnServerDrive_Click(sender As Object, e As EventArgs) Handles BtnServerDrive.Click Dim PartNumber As String = txtPartNumber.Text.Trim() 'Calculate the folder 4540 like container Dim NumContainer as string = txtPartNumber.Text.Trim() NumContainer = (txtPartNumber.Text.Trim / 1000 + 1).toString.Split(".").First
[Code] ....
How to achieve this results to access to the server drive to get images for view by using VB.NET or C# in code-behind. Servermappath, UNC, or else?
A month ago I got everything working but now my code has changed and my server may have been misconfigured.
Basically, I'm running IIS 6.0 and Win2k 2003. The webserver will map a network path UNC share at: //wave/test
Also, I have webconfig set up to do: impersonate = true (no username/password defined)
the path //wave/test is another computer that runs Windows XP. Wave is the computer name, test is the folder name. So C: est is the folder to access. The current permissions under C: est on the file server is: Administrator, IUSR_WEB (read-only) and "Wave_user" (read-only)
Back in WinServer 2003, i've added a virtual directory and mapped to \wave est and applied a local username/password for Wave_user. I am able to see/browse all the files in IIS 6.0 and see the files/folders. I call the virtual directory alias: "Waves". Inside Authentication method for this virtual directory, i applied Wave_user and the local password of the local file-server PC , and checked enable anonymous access w/ integrated windows authentication.
Also, back in virtual directory, I set "Connect As" to wave est as username and password as the local password.
When I access the webapplication, using my current local PC credential, and try to access the network share, which in C# is the command: server.mappath@("wave"... i get a Server Error 401. in the browser.
I am developing a network discovery utility in ASP.NET (VB.NET). The utility would crawl the complete network and find out maximum details about all the devices that
are connected to it. After some research i have found out that i can get the complete information about PCs and Servers using WMI but i am unable to find a way to get
information about other types of network devices such as Network Printers, Routers, Switches, IP Phones, Handheld devices etc. Can anyone point out in the right
My intention is to give the user a flexible user control on a master page that does the following:
When navigating, a child page will pass the URL (with querystring) and PageTitle to the user control. The user control will take those two parameters and insert them as a "breadcrumb" object at first index of a List<breadcrumb> collection
This part works fine through the use of a Repeater with a LinkButton contained in an ItemTemplate. The user sees each of the pages he has been visiting in descending order, the provided benefit is a quick way to re-open records they have recently modified or created.
The part I'm having trouble handling is what happens when the user clicks the LinkButton, which is that the child page adds a new reference to the URL at the beginning of the List<> collection and I cannot seem to control the behavior of removing the LinkButton before it gets re-created. What I've tried doing is:
While that should work, my CreateBreadCrumb(string url, string title) function gets called by the child page before the UserControl detects the Repeater1_ItemCommand event, so in effect it appears that the wrong ItemIndex is being used for removal.
I need to capture the amount of time that ASP.net takes to execute each page request in my application, but I need to exclude any network latency. I am currently capturing render times by using the StopWatch class and starting the stopwatch during the OnInit method of the page lifecycle and stopping it after the Unload method completes. It seems that the Unload method includes the time it takes send the request to the client, thus including any internet/network latency. What is the last possible point I could stop the stopwatch in the Page Life Cycle that would not include the time it takes to send the request to the client. Would it be directly before the Unload event?
Related question: Does ASP.net finish building the response before it starts sending to the client? Or does it start sending asynchronously, while the response is being formed?
I am using ASP.Net 2.0 with IIS 5 currently.
I have this code in a class that all of my pages inherit from:
I tried capturing the execution time at the end of the OnRender method, at the start of the OnUnload method and at the end of the OnUnload method. In all three cases the difference in times was at most 1 millisecond. Even when testing this from a client in Europe to a server in the USA, the times were identical.
I have load balanced web servers My application has a function that allows the user to upload their company logo to display in the application header obviously, when they upload the logo image file, it needs to be in a central location or otherwise, the file will not be accessible to the other server on the load balancer. in order to be able to upload the image through the application other one of either servers and then display it on both servers I need a virtual directory on both servers that point to a third "file server" (this is the "AcctData" directory shown below with a sub folder "images")
If I use pass-through authentication I get a 401 error. If I use a specific user that's set up on both boxes, I get a 500 error. I've also tried sticking a Web.config file in the "AcctData" directory allowing anonymous access.
I have a page that shows a list of the files in an upload directory. ie: My customer uploads a file through my web page and the file ends up in the proper directory. When I click on a file name, the url path is missing the directory name. It's as if my customer uploaded directly to my root. Interestingly, when I upload a file through the same web page, the path remains intact and I am able to click on the link and download the file. How can I get the proper path in my url name. Here is my code .
I have been asked to do some work on a website. I downloaded all of the files and chose "open website" in Visual Studio. In the picture below you can see the file structure. When I run the project I get some errors such as "could not load type 'AdminSite.Partner.Listing" or "file project/adminmaster.master does not exist'. Now, those files are indeed there. I have noticed that within the Admin folder and the Home folder there are compiled DLLs in the bin folders. Also, there are project files within each of those folders. I've tried opening the project files and the projects only encompass the files within each of the Admin and Home directories respectively. I'm just wondering what the best way is to set up this solution. As I've done so far, by opening it as a web site, why is it not seeing the DLLs in the bin folders when I run it? Do I need to reference them somehow?
I am building an asp.net application that connects to an FTP server. On this FTP sever if has several files with varying file extensions. Â The paths to these files are stored in a sql table. Â These paths are loaded in a listview.
On click of a button in the listview i want to take the path, detect the file extension and then load the file from the ftp server.
eg if the file is a PDF file then onlick the user must see a pdf file loaded.
I have zip files in one directory . I want to iterate through all files and check the file size. If file size <>0 kb then want to move to another directory. How can I do that?
