have two user controls on one aspx page. UC1 has a grid which contains a link button column which user clicks. Based on the value of clicked cell, I need to show some data into UC2.How do I pass data from UC1 to UC2? How do I invoke a function of UC2 from UC1?

View 2 RepliesI am receiving an error: The parameter 'configFileBaseName' is invalid when trying to build a project on my macintosh thru a windows server 2003 VMwAre fusion virtual machine This solution runs fine on Visual Studio 2010 on my PC running Windows 7 I don't think the platform has anything to do with the error though - but cannot find anything on the web to help me troubleshoot the problem. Something tells me this has more to do with setting up my IIS site configuration - perhaps I missed something?

The page will show a different article depending on the ID parameter fed in via querystring, and there are many thousands of articles in our db. Here is the problem: I need to cache the user control to improve performance. But editors constantly need to go in and make changes/corrections, which they want to appear instantly on the site. Is it possible to clear the cache for a specific article only once it has been edited? ie for the request article.aspx?id=123? If so how would I do this? Otherwise, if the cache is cleared for all our content every time a single piece of content is edited, it will defeat the object of caching in the first place. I have tried using a cache key as recommended here: [URL] However, this apporach suffers from the drawback mentioned above. have also seen that you can set caching up to be cleared by changes to the db. However, the particular table concerned holds content for a number of other sites and would also have the same disadvantage.

In my code I have an ObjectDataSource object with the following params

This piece of code automatically bind the hidden field "txtAlbumId" to the datasource. In my revision this datasource should be moved to a user control.
How can I get pass the DataKey of a GridView to a usercontol, preferably without code behind.
Why doesn't this work:

GridView1 is just a list of orders with a DataKey of OrderNumber.
od1 is not inside of a databout control, does it need to be?
I have a gridview inside a user control bind to an object datasource. Now I want to bind the object datasource with a parameter from parent page.
For this purpose I defined a public property in user control but how do I pass it with object datasource ?

i have 2 questions about output cache:1.is it just me , or does it seems that it is used only after the second time that the user reaches the webpage? if so, why, and how can i tweak it to my needs? my guess is that it wouldn't be logical to cache every time a user reach a webpage, but only when it happens enough times.2.i know that i can use "varybyparam" for using the output cache when the parameter doesn't change , but it seems that it would use the output cache even if there is no parameter , or if the specified paramter is not there. is there a way to overcome this?3.an old question that somehow marked as "answered" , yet i didn't solve : suppose i created a user control and i gave it values through the CTOR via the aspx file . is it possible to show the values from within the split/design mode? remember that i've talking about ASP.NET and not simply C# winforms . i write this because this question was on :[URL]and the answer that i got was for C# and winforms . i've tried to do the same for ASP.NET , but i've failed.

I have a user control which has a dropdown list, and a button on it. The DDL is databound. When the button is clicked, I want to retrieve the value of the dropdownlist. I check to see if the page is a postback and if not, I bind the DDL.I put my user control on my master page.When the button is clicked, the value of the dropdown is not obtainable. The selectedvalue is empty. I figure this has something to do with the order of the page being regenerated.

I'm using the same control for both the form submit and the status page(label only mode). I can load the rest of the info i just can't populate the dropdown from the codebehind.

I want to be able to build multiple Employees in one CREATE view. I figured I need to create an IList<Employee> and do something like:

If a user clicks on "Add another employee", I want the view to make another form for the new employee:

And continue to add form items (and increment the array index if they click on it again).
Keep in mind that I need to build the form and the list dynamically in the create view. I don't already have a populated list of Employees.

i can query to get my parent list and pass that into the partial view. Im running into problems when i try and make a recurisve call to the view. i cant figure out how to pass the second group back in.
I have the following scenario. I have a page that hosts several user controls. The user controls are all surrounded by a single update panel. All user controls have a save button on them. When the save buttons are clicked the page updates the update panel as expected. Some of the user controls contain editable list views. Whenever an action is taken on these list views, the Update Panel is NOT refreshed, but the whole page posts back. How can I get these ListViews to also refresh the Update Panel? I cannot post the code because of NDA. There are no javascript errors on the page reported by either IE8 or Chrome.

I've got a drop down list that I want to populate with items from a SQL Server database, which I did successfully, but I can't figure out how to write an if statement that will clear the drop down list based on a selected index and repopulate it with data from another table. The drop down list is inside an update panel that auto posts back.
Basically I want to allow the user to choose an item, but rather than populate another drop down list control, i just want to repopulate the current one with new data.I'm guessing that if I want to get data from more than one table the code below isn't going to work for me. Could I get the data from all the tables at once and store each table data in its own variable until I need to use it? (Each table will have under 10 items, in 5 tables.)
