C# - How To Select Folder Or File From The Asp.net Web Application
Feb 20, 2010
I have an ASP.NET web application and I need to put data from the web page to the output text file.I would like to give user an ability to select the folder where the file will be saved. For example, when the user clicks on the 'Browse' button the select folder dialog should appear.Is it possible to implement such thing in the asp.net web application?

I'm working on resource files in windows application. After i'm adding the resource file in the project if i built the project it creates a separate folder for each language with language code(Spanish->es-ES, French->fr-FR..) and also it has one dll file for corresponding langage inside the folder. Why it is creating like this? Can't we avoid this?

Imagine there's a web (mvc) application, which home directory on the server is the default c:intepubwwwroot. What i need is: user requests [URL] Server responses with a simple page with a random picture on it from a predefined path, which is not iis folder/app, like d:lolcats. This sample is tremendously simplified, of course. My solution is: when /randomPicture/ is requested, copy random picture to APP_Images/current_response.jpg or whatever to application home folder and then simply render <img src="../APP_Images/current_response.jpg" />

Is it possible to select a folder rather than a file with FileUpload control? If yes, how with code sample in VB/C#.
Why I need this is because, I want to read the contents of files in a selected folder a once instead of having to select the files one-after-another.

I have some common dlls that are referenced by both a windows service application and a asp.net web application. I don't want to make separate copies of the dlls and I also don't want to put those dlls into GAC. I try to put that service application under the same root folder as the web application so that they can share the same bin folder. I am not quite sure if this will cause any problems? I did find the web application had random session timeout, but not very often. Not sure if it was caused by the shared dlls.

I am trying to select all the files from a folder in my website and store them in a collection. The problem is that when I run the website it is not selecting the folder in my website:
This is the basic structure: [Root Folder] --> [FilesFolder]
Here is the code I am using:
DirectoryInfo dir = new DirectoryInfo("FilesFolder");
But it is showing this at runtime as the location of the folder:
C:Program Files (x86)Common FilesMicrosoft SharedDevServer10.0FileUploads
Is there a way to select the folder relative to the root of the website?
I am using C# with ASP.NET 3.5

I'm looking to build a user control where the user should be able to select N number of files for upload using the same "file/explorer" dialog/control. Currently, the FileUpload control enables a user to select only one file for upload. I have seen examples where people have modified this, so that uploaded files are stored in a list to provide a "mass upload" functionality. However, the user can select only one file at a time. This is NOT what I want, the user should be able to select multiple files at a time, or select a folder with which I should be able to upload all the children images. Is there any way I can do this or has someone done this already and i'm somehow missing it?
