C# - HttpModule To Write Out JavaScript Script References To The Response
Mar 11, 2010
On my page in the Page_Load event I add a collection of strings to the Context object. I have an HttpModule that will fire EndRequest and retrieve the collection of strings. What I then do is write out a script reference tag (based on the collection of strings) to the response. The problem is that the page reads the script reference but doesn't retrieve the contents of the file (I imagine because this is occurring in the EndRequest event). I can't fire the BeginRequest event because I won't have access to the Context Items collection.
I tried to also registering an HttpHandler which Processes the request of the script reference but I can't access the collection of strings in the Context.Items from there.

I'm having a problem with this code:
[code]....
The thing is that, the first if statement works fine and the 'javascript' shows an alert and close the window, but in the second if statement the javascript shows the message but doesn't close the window.

I have written an Http Module that hooks onto the Response.Filter property of the current request and does various replacements within the HTML before it is sent to the client.All the work is done in the Write method which is overriding Write in the base class Stream.
The Write method is called multiple times for a single response - the HTML seems to be written to the output stream in chunks. My problem is that I don't have an efficient & reliable way of telling if the current chunk is the last chunk (for why I want to know this see below). The only way I have come up with is to check if the chunk contains a closing html tag - but this is not very efficient or reliable.
The reason this is needed is that the module must add the "Refresh" HTTP header to the response, but only if the HTML fulfills certain conditions (and there are certain conditions that mean the header must not be added). So, only when the last chunk has been seen does the code know if the header can be added or not. So, I either need a test for the last chunk, or on each call to Write I add the header if the current block of HTML passes the test (if it has not already been added) or remove the header if the current block of HTML fails the test (if it has already been added).
So, is there a better way to test for the last chuck OR is there a way to test for a particular header being in the response and delete it (there doesn't seem to be a way to do this - only to append headers)?

I'm trying to create a HttpModule that changes the Response.Filter like so(for this demonstration just set the filter back to itself):
public class ContentTrafficMonitor : IHttpModule
{
public void Init( HttpApplication context )
{
context.BeginRequest += OnBeginRequest;[code]....
Doing so sets the transfer encoding of the response to chunked, rather than using the Content-Length header.If I remove the line where the Response.Filter is set, the response does have the Content-Length header. Our application depends on the Content-Length header, is there any way to prevent this behavior?

am trying to write an HttpModule that will work in IIS7 with integrated pipeline mode AppPool. Within this module I need to access Session variables and to be able to capture the Session Start and End events. I have found a couple of articles on this topic that indicate the need to modify the behavior of the HttpHandler in PostAcquireRequestState to force the Session for the context to be initialized. The article I am using as a template is posted here:[URL]In my case I am getting the following error:
[NullReferenceException: Object reference not set to an instance of an object.] System.Web.PipelineModuleStepContainer.GetEventCount(RequestNotification notification, Boolean isPostEvent) +30 System.Web.PipelineStepManager.ResumeSteps(Exception error) +1112
System.Web.HttpApplication.BeginProcessRequestNotification(HttpContext context, AsyncCallback cb) +113 System.Web.HttpRuntime.ProcessRequestNotificationPrivate(IIS7WorkerRequest wr, HttpContext context) +616
I believe that this error implies a problem with attempting to attach an event handler multiple times. I am aware that the modules Init function can be called more than once and have set a static initialization flag which ensures that I will only ever attach the event handler once.In the most condensed form my code is as follows:
public class HttpModule : IHttpModule, IRequiresSessionState

I'm trying to include script and style references that will not break on deployment, however I can not even get the references to work locally. I have tried using Url.Content() and MVCContrib's <%=Html.ScriptInclude("")%>.
My scripts are in a Scripts folder on the root of the site; my styles are in the usual Content/css/ folder.
The scripts render like this:
<script type="text/javascript" src="/Scripts/MicrosoftAjax.debug.js" ></script>
This will not work in a view page in the Views folder. What am I doing wrong and what is the best way to handle this?
I would have thought Url.Content() would at least work for styles but used in my master page, the link rendered
<link href="/Content/css/Site.css rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" />
This does not work, because the Master Page is in a Shared folder, so what is really the way forward with this?

I am using Reporting Services to render a report directly to PDF. It requires that I use two web references: ReportExecution2005.asmx and ReportService2005.asmx. The performance on web references seems really poor. Since my web server (IIS7) and my SQL Server (2008) are on the same box, is there a way I can reference them directly? If not is there any way I can explicitly cache them or something. First load is really really slow, second load is perfectly acceptable.

Let me explain better than what the question state. I dynamically generate a KML file from an aspx page and use routing to change the url so I can access myapp.com/mykml.kml and the download starts. I use Response.write() in the aspx page to send the data and it work flawlessly. But there is a zipped version for KML files which is KMZ and I am wondering if I can still use my aspx page to serve a KMZ instead of a KML. Since I do not use a file I cannot "zip" it. Is there a way to zip the stream and output it in the Response.Write()?

I have an ASP.NET application using a master page. I am adding a reference to the JQuery library in the master page however there are some content pages and user controls that reference the JQuery library directly. Will I need to remove each reference from those pages or can I leave them in place even though I am adding a reference into the master page of the application?

I am creating a custom control and had a thought before I began. My control relies on the jQuery library to work. What if the user already has a version of the library already on their page. Will this effect anything? If my version is newer / older and my control will only work with that version of the libaray, what should I do?

UPDATE:
The service cannot be activated because it does not support ASP.NET compatibility. ASP.NET compatibility is enabled for this application. Turn off ASP.NET compatibility mode in the web.config or add the AspNetCompatibilityRequirements attribute to the service type with RequirementsMode setting as 'Allowed' or 'Required'.
when i try to access wcf service i get this error: the reason is HttpContext.Current is null, what should i do in this case?
Object reference not set to an instance of an object.

Person p = new Person() { FirstName = "First name", LastName= "last name" };
string json = s.Serialize(p);

try

string strConnectionString = ConfigurationManager.ConnectionStrings["SqlServerCstr"].ConnectionString;
SqlConnection myConnection = new SqlConnection(strConnectionString);
myConnection.Open();

string avukat = DropDownList2.SelectedItem.Value;
SqlCommand cmd = new SqlCommand("INSERT INTO AVUKAT VALUES (@MUSTERI, @AVUKAT, @HESAP)", myConnection);
cmd.Parameters.AddWithValue("@HESAP", hesap);.......

I am trying to force a download of an XML file when the user visits a page.
This is the code I am using
public partial class GenerateTemplate : LayoutsPageBase
{
protected void Page_Load(object sender, EventArgs e)
{
//.............
//Going about generating my XML
//.............
Response.ClearContent();
Response.AddHeader("content-disposition", "attachment; filename=template.xml");
Response.Write(xmlDoc.InnerXml);
Response.Flush();
Response.Close();
}
}
I am facing a problem that my download window hangs indefinitely, without ever completing the download/Open of the file.
What am I doing wrong? Am I not disposing any objects or closing any connections here?

in a webpage I have a link to let the user download file, such as,
<a href="showfile.aspx?filename=xxx">download file</a>
in showfile.aspx, I send the file using Response.OutputStream.Write method. now I get some problem when somebody put this webpage in an IFrame and open in IE, as I checked the code, showfile.aspx is requested twice when clicks the link, and in the second time the cookies of authorization and session Id are missing. I tried to add the p3p header but not working.my question is, is this how the IE designed with iframe? is there anyway to work around?
