I use the following code: (returns an excel obviously)
ControllerContext.HttpContext.Response.ContentType = "application/ms-excel";
ControllerContext.HttpContext.Response.Write(sw.ToString());
ControllerContext.HttpContext.Response.End();
return View();
where sw is a StringWriter in which i create my excel structure(a table). So, sw.ToString() is a table and some tds contains values like 0001234. When i open the excel file i see in those tds 1234, with no zeroes. What must i do to see those zeroes?

Visual Studio (SP1) runs fine until I try and view .aspx source files with the lines
<style type="text/css">
</stlye>
anywhere in them, upon which it freezes (i.e is totally unresponsive) and I have to use the task manager to shut it down.
I have read a lot of questions about Visual Studio 2008 crashing on viewing some source files. However, I still can't fix this problem.
I have systematically deleted and re-included all other code and it comes down to these two lines, which is very confusing. Sometimes it happens as soon as the lines are added, sometimes it doesn't freeze until I build the solution with any of the problem pages open. I can add external style sheets, and it only started recently.
I had Resharper 4.5 installed and have since uninstalled it, and do not have anything else installed.
Also, it happens to other people with the same source code, and re-installing Visual Studio does not fix the problem. So I have several questions:
Is there any way I can find out what's happening? I don't understand how the code (the css tag itself) could crash Visual Studio, and am thinking that this is unlikely and it must be something else within my solution, would this be a safe assumption? Could this have anything to do with installing Office 2010?

I want to embed a excel file with macro in web page, and execute the macro when I click a button in the excel file.
I use iframe to do it as following ,
<IFRAME WIDTH="75%" HEIGHT="55%" NAME="fframe" SRC="Calculator.xls">
<FRAME WIDTH="75%" HEIGHT="55%" NAME="fframe" SRC="Calculator.xls">
<EMBED SRC="Calculator.xls" width=200 height=100>
</IFRAME>
when i open this page via IE, It will prompt me to open or save this xls file.
But we do not want to show this prompt, we want to open it directly.

I have an application that uploads an Excel .xls file to the file system, opens the file with an oledbconnection object using the .open() method on the object instance. The upload and writing of the file to the file system works fine but I get an error when trying to open the file on our production server only. The application works fine on two other servers (development and testing servers).
string connectionString = ("Provider=Microsoft.Jet.OLEDB.4.0;Data Source=" + fileName + ";") + "Extended Properties="Excel 8.0""
OleDbConnection connection = null;
connection = new OleDbConnection(connectionString);
connection.Open();
The exception comes on production server at connection.Open() some times, when I reset the asp.net worker process it started to work but after some hours/days It occurs again. how can I fix this issue which comes in production some times but very irritating, or there is some other work around.

I work in VS 2008. Whenver I add a server control(Label) and set it properties in aspx.vb and build the solution, I get the error "Label1 not declared". While analyzing this issue I noticed that the event handler statements for the Label1 where not added in the designer.asp.vb file. These statement would actually be added automatically when I drag and drop a control to my webpage.
I would also like to inform the scenario after which this problem came to me. I was working in VS 2008 , VS 2005 and VS 2003 in the same machine.Could this have caused the issue ?
Now each and everytime when I add a control, I am adding the "With Events" code in the designer page to make my build succesfull which makes me to spend more efforts.

I'm trying to use the COM interop assembly to export some data to an Excel workbook for an ASP.NET web application. This works fine in development, since the server and the client are the same machine. However, when deployed, this is not the case. The deployed version does not throw an exception, but it also does not open Excel on the local machine (since ASP.NET is executed server-side, this is pretty obvious).
How do I go about creating an Excel application on the client's machine?

i have a store procedure that load data in a table of SQL SERVER 2008 from an excel file.the issue is, that the excel file have a column of DATE type, and i want that the system interprets the format in it, no matter what comes in it.dd/MM/yyyy mm/dd/yyyyi have an argue about this with my parnerts, cause i think is imposible, if you don't have a format before the process runs.

I am creating an site where a user uploads an excel file to check if any of the records exist in a database. Then they are returned an excel file with only the records that are NOT in the database.
I was thinking I should do it this way1. User uploads their excel file. The app opens excel file and loads records into a dataset (so far this is working with the code below)2. Using datarow and another function to check if each excel record exists in the database3 If the record does NOT exist, and it is the first record tested, create an excel file called records.xlsx and write the record into the file
4. Check the next record and if it does NOT exist in the database, then check if records.xlsx already exists then open it and write it into it.
[Code]....
Hopefully its clear, sorry if its not, I'm a bit of a novice at this. Is this a good way to do it? Does anyone know of any tutorials that might outline how to open an existing file and write to it?

I am working solo on an Asp.net/C# project created by someone in the past. I created two new web forms, and then built the prjocect and did the deploy using a TFS team build project. For some strange reason, my Aspx file is not getting copied to the destination DEV server. It does get copied to a temp folder on that server, but in the end, the team build is failing and not copying over the new Aspx file.
So until I figure out how to fix the team build script, is their a way to just copy the Aspx file out to the desired server location? That as well as copying out a dll which is associated with the build file?

I need to hide the menu and tool bars of a browser window, and the only examples I've found on how to do this are in the DOM with a javascript window.open command similar to the following:
window.open("YourPage","toolbar=no,menubar=no,scrollbars=no,resizable=yes")
The problem is, I cannot use this as the page (an aspx form) is being called with a server.transfer, so there really isn't a way to use the above code. Is there a way to set the toolbar and menubar without using window.open?

I would like to know your libraries recommendations to read and write Excel applications on ASP .NET website. I have tried GemBox and NPOI, because they don't required Excel to be installed on the server, but they have some limitations on handling Excel files that are marked to read only.

I want to open a aspx page in new window.
I am openning a web page using JavaScript open .
StringBuilder cstext3 = new StringBuilder();
cstext3.Append("<script type=text/javascript> function OpenPreviewPage() {");
cstext3.Append("open('Preview.aspx');");
cstext3.Append("} </script>");
And executing following at button click on .cs page
protected void btnPreview_Click(object sender, ImageClickEventArgs e)
{
/*This will call the OpenPreviewPage method of java script from .cs file */
string javaScript =
"<script language=JavaScript>
" +
"OpenPreviewPage();
" +
"</script>";
RegisterStartupScript("ShowPreviewPage", javaScript);
}
The problem is the PreviousPage tag in preview page is null.
repPFareDetail = PreviousPage.FindControl("repFareDetail") as Repeater;
Is there any other way to open the aspx in new window by retaining the PreviousPage.FindControl method.

we are working on a file download page. We want to download a file with a name with spaces and accents. Although the filename is shown correctly on the filedownload dialog, when we click open, the file name is shown with %e1%ba%a3n%20... on notepad. ('Save as' shows the correct name) This problem only happens in Internet Explorer.
Is there anyway we can Display the file name correctly (on the target application) after opening it (without saving) from file download dialog ?
We use this code to set the filename :
fileName = Server.UrlPathEncode(fileName);
Response.AppendHeader("Content-Disposition", "attachment; filename="" + fileName + """);

I have a simple webpage which uses the FileUpload control. I am trying to select a file from the local pc and save it to the web server which is a remote server on the company network. I have a shared folder on the web server with the appropriate permissions. The folder authentication is using a predefined user name and password.
I have tried My.Computer.Network.UploadFile and System.Net.WebRequestMethods.File.UploadFile. For both methods I am getting the following error:
System.IO.FileNotFoundException: Could not find file 'C:empfilename.xls'
