The following setup seems to work fine on the client side, however when I post back and check Page.IsValid, the value is false. I also looked at mevDate.IsValid and it's false. It seems that setting the CultulreName on the MaskedEditExtender is sufficient to get the MaskedEditValidator to emit the correct JavaScript, but on the server side of things it doesn't work. When I flip CultureName to "en-US" everything works as expected.
I am working in an ASP.NET MVC Application. I have a view model as follows:
[code]....
From UI Perspective user can enter date as mmddyyyy. And when user enters in such format 01012001, my ModelState.IsValid code piece in controller returns false. When I did a quick watch in ModelState, I see an error for the propery "SampleDate", saying "The Value 01012001 is not valid for SampleDate".
In my modelbinder, during the OnModelUpdated event I tried to format the value 01012001 to 01/01/2001 and assigned it back to SampleInterestViewModel.SampleDate thinking that ModelState.IsValid might return true without that error. But still ModelState.IsValid is false and I when I looked in to the ModelState dictionary, this particular property still has that errors in its collection.
Lastly I tried to format 01012001 and update the value 01/01/2001 directly to the Property SampleDate in the ModelState dictionary. But still ModelState.IsValid is false showing the same error for the SampleDate property. Can't figure out why ModelState.IsValid works and how and when it gets set to false.
If the User enter 01012001 in the UI, I still need to format it in the modelbinder to 01/01/2001 and make sure that ModelState.IsValid it true so that the rest of my controller code can work as expected. In the UI I am doing an AjaxSubmit to post the sampleDate value.
Model is coming up as Invalid Scenario is I have a custom ViewModel and certain fields don't show up on the screen (like Id & some computed fields etc..) so when the data gets posted back the Model.IsValid() comes to false Q Do I have to pre init these fields when I do create
ActionResult CreateOrder(int customerID)
{
var order=new OrderViewModel();
//shall I init the fields which are not being keyed in by the user?
}
In our code, we have to give the users a list of printers to choose from. The user then chooses a printer and it is checked to verify it is valid before printing. On a windows 2003 server with IIS 6, this works fine. On a windows 2008 server with IIS 7, it fails each time impersonate is set to true.
PrinterSettings printerSetting = new PrinterSettings();
printerSetting.PrinterName = ddlPrinterName.SelectedItem.Text;
if (!printerSetting.IsValid)
{
lblMsg.Text = "Server Printer is not valid.";
}
else
{
lblMsg.Text = "Success";
}
Each time this code is run, the "Server Printer is not valid" displays, only if impersonate is set to true. If impersonate is set to false, the success message is displayed. The impersonation user has full rights to the printer. Is there a way to catch the actual reason the printer is not valid? Is there some other 2008 setting I should check? update I found that IsValid fails when the IIS7 application pools has "Enable 32-bit applications" is checked. This must be checked b/c we are using a 3rd party tool to print with, and it is a 32-bit application. It is not currently part of this test, so right now it is not causing this error.
I have an approve button.on clicking on this button it should show that an inactive value is present .Onclicking yes conformation it should save the data or else clicking on no conformation should return false; how i will do that?After alert it always submit the data.

I try to create a asp.net mvc 2 application.

View 3 RepliesI'm using CustomValidator with Page.IsValid=false but for some reason the FormView control still process the insertion.
View 10 RepliesI am using a wizard control in which I have a next button that has causes validation = true. I also have a checkbox that when changed, in the event handler, I set causes validation = false for the next button. When that button is clicked - I get the following:
Page.IsValid cannot be called before validation has taken place. It should be queried in the event handler for a control that has CausesValidation.
Here is the code:
protected void chk_CheckChanged(object sender, EventArgs e)
{
CheckBox chk = (CheckBox)sender;
ImageButton ibtnStepNext = (ImageButton)(this.WizardSummaryTemplate.CustomNavigationTemplateContainer.FindControl("StepNextButton"));
ibtnStepNext.CausesValidation = (!chk.Checked);
}
What would be the recommended solution to disabling validation for the next button so I don't see this error?
if i have string with "1,2,3,5" how can i have another record at least to have "1,2,3,5" in new data if it is "1,2,3,4,5" then it is true. if the new data is "1,2,3,4,6" , then return false becuase it is missing 5.
View 7 RepliesHow to return count of true/ false in a column of a table. I have a table in sql containing 5 columns with bollean type. Now I have to return the number of trues and falses in each column and display on my frontend.
View 1 RepliesI know this looks similar to other questions here but I don't think my case is the same as theirs.
I have a website that uses the AspNetSqlMembershipProvider to validate users. I would like to use the same database from a console application. According to several articles on the web I can use the System.Web.Security.Membership class from outside ASP.NET by copying the appropriate sections from web.config to app.config. That is what I did.
My console appliction can get the user with the requested name and I can confirm that the user is approved and is not locked out but ValidateUser returns false for a correct username and password pair.
I have found articles where people have had trouble with migrating code which may be due to a machine key mismatch but have also found a reference saying that machine key is only used if the passwordFormat property equals encrypted whereas I am using hashed.
Is the issue that the two pieces of code - the website and the console app - are in different assemblies and the assembly name or other property is being used during password hashing? In both cases the application name property is set to /.
Should I continue with this approach or just access the database directly and hash the password myself?
So in default.aspx I have the code

When I call test() from javascript i want it to return false but cant seem to geta value from test.
I am a bit baffled... I had my validation working fine till I added a validation group to it. Can someone tell me what i might be missing ? I'm at a loss... As I have another page doing the same thing and it works fine. Page.isValid always comes back as true.( I am just clicking on the button to make all the validation fire off.... )

I have the following code which simply gets data from a table and populates the questions_lb listbox with items. I have a button on the page, which when clicked, should write (on submit) the selected state of each of the items. The code below writes the text values of each of the items fine however it always writes the li.Selected as False even though i have selected items from the list. Note that you can select Multiple items from the list. Does anyone have a clue why its not writing 'True' for an item that is selected on submit?

I just want to add some client side (JQuery Javascript) validation in a web user control. I put an OnClientClick handler and the function gets called. BUT, even if I return "false", the OnClick method always get fired. What am I doing wrong ?
I'm with VS 2010, targeting the 4.0 framework with JQuery 1.4.2. and JQuery UI 1.8.4.
Here's a sample code :
<td style="text-align:right"><asp:Button ID="btnAddSave" OnClientClick="return ValidateMail();" OnClick="btnAddSave_Click" runat="server" Text="Submit" /></td>[code]...
If I put a breakpoint in the Page_Load event, I see that I get in and the btnAddSave_Click event is also executed.
I am trying to return true or false from popup window to the parent window. Actually the parent window has a button control, which on click popup another window. The popup window holds some emailing data and a button "send". This "send" button onclick send email. Now I want to return true if the email is successfully sent otherwise false, to the parent window. Depending on returning value a label present on parent window displays a text message. But I am not able to implement it. Because it might happen that the popup window is blocked by web-browsers popup blocker or popup window is accidentally closed by user. So how can I confirm to parent window whether or not the email is successfully sent?

View 3 RepliesWhen any of my page is idle for about 20 minute, and after that if I hit any button, like Sumit Button or any other button, at this time, Page.IsPostback is again False, and none of the click event is fired and page gets reloaded again.
This happens only if I go like this, open up any of my webpage, keep it idle OR do nothing for about 20 minute, exactly on 21st or 22nd minute, Click on any of the button on the page, and the page gets reloaded, click event does not get fired. I debugged for this and I checked the Page.IsPostback value at this point and I got it as False after 20 minute, I don't know why. It should be True. And because of this my page gets reloaded and nothing gets submitted and every control is in the blank position once again and user have to enter everything again.
But if I enter everything and hit any of the button or Submit button within 20 minute, then everything works fine, Submit button's click event is also gets fired and everything works perfect.
And this is happening in all of my page. I am not sure what configuration is wrong.
But just for more details, I have a master page, I am using Telerik Controls and I have session Timeout set as 60 minute everywhere, in web.config and in IIS settings and in my App_Pool also. On my Master Page, I have ASP:ScriptManager, Tekerik:RadMenu, ASP:ContentPlaceHolder controls and some other controls and javascript code too.

I have a page with a (gridview nested within a gridview) in an UpdatePanel (UpdateMode="Conditional"). The nested gridview drops down when you click on an arrow and then you can click on each subgrid rows command field. The gridviews are loaded from the Page_Load event. When I click on the commandfield in the subgrid the Page_Load fires during the partial page postback. From what I have read this is normal with UpdatePanels. But What I don't understand is why both Page.IsPostBack and ScriptManager.GetCurrent(Page).IsInAsyncPostBack test false after I click on the command field in my grid. I need to stop the rebinding of the gridviews ( which causes the subgrid to collapse ) when the command field is clicked.Also: I am using MasterPages and the <asp:ScriptManager ID="ScriptManager1" runat="server"> </asp:ScriptManager> is located in my mater page form section.Would anyone have any suggestions how to test if a partial page postback is occuringHere is a link to the page source: http://pastebin.org/153774here is a link to the code behind: http://pastebin.org/153781
View 2 RepliesIs it necessary to do a ModelState.IsValid check at the top of every action? It seems that it is since the default model binder could make it invalid depending on the action parameters.
View 3 RepliesThe latest MVCSaffolding package uses "if (ModelState.IsValid)" prior to saving changes. In the past I have seen TryUpdateModel... used.
Is there a best practice?
