C# - Revert Database Permissions To "admin"?

I am having an unusual problem with MS SQL Server 2008 R2. My problem is a bit odd:
* Installed MS SQL and used in in my application. The app logs onto the server with the 'local Windows authentication'. Mixed mode is disabled.
* We had to rename our server. So now the 'local authentication' stops working. That's ok, because we use 'sa' in Mixed Mode as a temporary workaround.
* However, we can't seem to get back to 'local Windows authentication'. It seems that our newly created user account doesn't have full permissions. We checking pretty much every option, and can see things improving as we find the right permission tick boxes to click. However, we end up with problems as every so often a permission error occurs.
My question: What's the way to give 'god' permissions to a local role, or at least to revert it to the original permissions we have when the server was installed?

My website is [URL] (access there to see error, please) When I was testing in VS2010, it was connecting to the DB because I set permissions READ/WRITE on my computer to ALL. If I put restrictions, VS2010 couldn't just connect to them. Well, I deployed my DB on the server of my website, and I'm not able to access it.
My connection string:

I think I'm getting these errors because my server hasn't permission to access the database.

I am planning to develop around 4 product catalogue websites. The functionality of all the websites would be same. however the design, images and css would be different.
All the 4 websites will use the same admin panel, forums and database(MS Access) also.
How should I create such a system.
I dont understand what kind of folder structure should I create.
I would like to create following kind of folder structure.
(Root Folder)Admin Website ----> Website 1 (subfolder)
----> Website 2 (subfolder)
----> Website 3 (subfolder)
----> Website 4 (subfolder)
Root folder will have the database and all the common files.
Unfortunately, when I tried to create such structure, Dot Net Didnt allow me to create one website inside another
what kind of system should I use for maximum reusability.
I am a small time freelancer and cannot afford to build seperate websites for each of my client.

I'm using ASP.Net and NHibernate to build a website. Now, I need to add some sort of administration functionality, and came to think of an old django tutorial I once ran through. Here the admin page was build for me, and I could customize it as I liked. I see no reason that I couldn't accomplish the same, somehow, in ASP.Net, when I got my NHibernate schemas, thus reducing all the boilerplate admin-code I need to do. Are there any libs out there, that you think will fill my needs somehow?

I am pretty good with HTML, PHP & MYSQL but this is my first go at working with a windows host and an ASP script. I recently purchased a script that matches my clients needs and when i have opened the folder to view the files its all double dutch to me apart from one css files which makes perfect sense to me!
Im stuck with is the database file included in the template, i ave been unable to import it into MSSQL using 'My Little Admin' which is the control panel provided by my hosting provider. Looking through the file with notepad it seems to contain the information for several tables but i cannot figure out for the life of me how i import it with 'My Little Admin'

ok i have my GUI installed on the server which has users as administrator as the role of an administrators and user1 which has the role of the guest...I have one project and there are different pages for administrators and guests... when the login screen comes up and the administrator logs in he should be redirected to the admin.aspx page and for user1 he should be redirected to the guest.aspx page.
Now the scenario is i have 10 users in a company and one administrator. This GUI is on the network server and these 10 users are able to access it as guests.
How do the guest user logs in and can access the SQl database in the read only mode but when the administrator user logs in he can access the database in the read and write mode.?? I dont know how to do this really... any suggestions
(by IIS server or webconfig or some setting in SQL server)
and the previous question is what to use (forms or windows authentication) where can i get information on how to set up this kind of authentication???? Is there the need to use impersonation also??

I think I did something stupid recently. I tried out the new vs2010 and probably changed settings to the newer version of the .net framework. My asp.net pages are working normally as before locally on my machine, but after I uploaded my web.config file to my ISP, the same pages are not working online.The version of asp.net my ISP has is 2.00.50727. I can upgrade that to 3.0 for an addional cost, but how do I revert back to my previous version, is this done in the wetb.config file perhaps?

I've a SPJob Scheduled with a package (wsp) installation which update web.config and a Application Page which also build to update web.config. The problem is when I install the package it successfully update the web.config. I've confirmed the changes. Now, when we go to our Application Page which also successfully update the web.config but I lost the changes made during package installation.

I have a GridView that is populated from a LinqDataSource. When I update a row, the RowCommand fires and the change is persisted to the database, but the Grid does not refresh. I have it in an UpdatePanel and explicitely call Update() in the RowCommand handler, but there is no postback and the page just sits there in Edit mode. Once I click cancel, it will return to view-only and the grid shows the new value.

My web-based app allows users to override values in certain textboxes. If they don't override the value, the system will display (and use) a default.
I would like to support a scenario where the user has overridden the value, but now wants to revert back to the system default value, but doesn't know what value to enter. I would like to provide an intuitive UI for causing the system to revert the field's value back to its default.
Fields occur both on edit forms (where space is plentiful), as well as on edit grids (where space is scarce).
Requiring the user to clear the field is not an option, as sometimes the user's override is an empty value. Would rather not use a keystroke, like Ctrl-Z or ESC.
Best thing I can think of is the user hovers over the field and a popup displays giving the user the option to use the system default. I could use the same popup to capture/display a comment related to the override.

I've got an ASP.NET website, and its connecting to a database I've created on SQL Server 2k8 and I'm using windows integrated security on my connection string between asp.net and SQL Server. What account should I give permissions to my database inside SQL Server? Should I give NT AUTHORITYNETWORK SERVICE permission to my database? Right now, I right clicked the network service account, and went to properties, and then I checked my database under "users mapped to this login:" and then in the "database role membership for" diaglogue I then selected public and db_owner. Is that right?

i know actions enable access can be determine by [Authorize] attribute. but my admin has 10-20 controller and about 100 action.
i do not want to signature all of actions by [Authorize] attribute.
all controller must be required login if user did not login.

I login as a user with the "admin" role, and that works. Then I call /services/doadminstuff - and I get access denied, even though when I put a breakpoint in Global.asax.cs, I can see that my roles do include "admin". If I comment out the first Authorize attribute (with roles) and just use a plain vanilla Authorize, then I can access the service.

Is it possible to use a small .NET page to set folder permissions on some folders on the server where it resides? What is the code or objects that can be used for this? I am on Windows Server 2003.
Basically I want to hit the page with a GET or POST and have it run and check and/or update the permissions on a folder.

I am calling example.exe from asp.net web-page. Example.exe contains Process.Kill(), but I am not able to kill that process whenever Ill run example.exe from asp.net web page. I think i need to set some permissions for killing processes. What permissions must a user have to be able to succesffuly execute a rocess.Kill? We have a web application that runs on a WIndows Server 2008 64 bits machine. The app's ApplicationPool is running under the ApplicationPoolIdentity and configured for .net 2 and Classic pipeline mode.
This works fine up to the moment that XmlSerialization requires creation of Serializer assemblies where MEF is being used to create a collection of knowntypes.
To remedy this I was hoping that granting the ApplicationPoolIdentity rights to the ASP.Net Temporary Files directory would be enough, but alas..
What I did was the run the following command from a cmd prompt:
icacls "c:windowsmicrosoft.netframework64v2.0.50727Temporary ASP.NET Files" /grant "IIS AppPoolMyAppPool":(M)
Obviously this did not work, otherwise you would not be reading this :)
Strange thing is that whenever I grant the Users or even more specific, the Authenticated Users Group those permissions, it works. What's weird as well (in my eyes) is that before I started granting access the ApplicationPoolIdentity was already a member of IIS_IUSRS which does have Modify rights for the temporary asp files directory.
And now I'm left wondering why this situation requires Modify rights for the Authenticated Users group. I thought it could be because the apppool account was missing additional rights (googling for this returned some results, so I tried those), but granting the ApplicationPoolIdentity modification rights to the WindowsTemp directory and/or the application directory itself did not fix it.
For now we have a workaround, but I hate that I don't know what is exactly going on here, so I was hoping any of you guys could shed some light on this.

I'm uploading an Excel file and then reading data using oledb connection in asp.net but I'm getting the following error: The Microsoft Jet database engine cannot open the file ''. It is already opened exclusively by another user, or you need permission to view its data.

Can I use LINQ to SQL and have a user log in, and with that login be restricted to certain parts of the database.. basically having access to information located under their particular customer ID number.... how would I get the 'session' to follow them throughout the website without having to login each time the database is tapped for info...?

I am doing some testing and want to find out best practice for creating a new user to assign to an appPool. I know that the default ASPNET account, on IIS 6.0, is very low permissions. For experienced folks, what are the bare permissions required to grant this new user? Yes, I am aware that various NTFS rights are required for different operations, such as reading outside of the application path, writing to the NTFS share, etc. I am just looking at a base install.

I've recently installed VS 2003 to work on an existing web project (I already had 2005 and 2008 installed), but I'm getting an annoying problem when I try to run it. I get a browser page with an error message of:

I've got a routine that tries to import files from an import directory, spitting them out to an Error directory if the import fails. The Error directory is shared and users have access permissions to delete files in there, so they can try to fix the problems and then move the files off to the import directory again. I use File.Move to move the files to the Error directory and this is working fine, apart from the permissions - it seems to revert to a default set of permissions, rather than the directory's one, and so the users can't remove the files - how can I reset the permissions on the file to those of their containing directory? I've tried poking around with SetAccessControl and SetAccessRuleProtection but I don't seem to be having any luck?
