C# - SelectedIndexChanged Fires A Detailview Grid But How To Catch It's Info?

This is how i have it setup:DAL: a dbml file for the contextBLL: All my BL rulesTypes: I made type for every object that i return to my presentation layer.Now that i made types and use this structure i find it hard to understand how to manipulate data. Normally i could just bind my datacontext to a grid and just activate all the datagrid's possibilities without having to worry about anything. for example when i want to enable sorting, i have to write my own logic to return teh right rows to the grid etc.
I have a multiview with two datagrids. The first datagrid is an overview grid and has an option to select an entry. When i select the entry i switch to my second view and I want to show the details for the selected object there.However... I bound a List to the first grid and now I don't know how to find out what entry is selected. I have an event handler for the SelectedIndexChanged.
I have an ASP.NET DropDownList with AutoPostBack=true and EnableViewState=false. I have a button on the page that does nothing. If I change the selection in the ddl, it posts back , which is expected. If I click the button, the page posts back and the ddl's SelectedIndexChanged fires. Why does it get fired?
I have an Accordion control that is populated dynamically. I want to catch the event raised when a new pane is clicked on to open. I don't see the event at all in intelli-sense and when I code it by hand anyways I get errors. Is there any way to catch this event? The goal is to let a control in the masterpage that is holding the Accordion know when the Accordion has changed so it can update another control.
[URL]Initially if I make a selection it will automatically post back and firecboItemsPerPage_SelectedIndexChanged. If I then post back by clicking one of the other buttons on the page, cboItemsPerPage_SelectedIndexChanged will continue to fire, despite the fact that the value has not been changed.I want it to be postback only when selected index is changed, not in every postback
Consider the following:The SomeEvent fires as expected when any of the dropdown's selection is changed. However if say DropdownList2 has a selection made then I make a selection with either DropDownList1 or DropdownList3, then SomeEvent fires again. What is causing this behavior and how do I get just a single raising of that event?I suspect that when the viewstate for the dynamcially created dropdownlists is restored and the selection restored, then the event is fired because technically the selected index did change when the control was recreated. The reason I suspect this is that the event fires the for each dropdownlist.
I have a listveiw populated from a List<> in the code behind using the following code:

The page displays the images from the list<> and button ok but nothing happens when i click it other than postback. Furthermore even when i set up a test button wich changes the ListView.selectedindex the ListView.SelectedIndexChanged event never fires even though i can read the selected index and see that it has changed.
I'm guessing that it's something to do with using a list<> from the code behind to populate the listview but i must confess to being completely clueless.
I ask for a date, on OnTextChanged event i bind data with a SqlDataSource to a dropdownlist and also bind data to a repeater passing the dropdownlist SelectedIndex (i use SqlDataSource too and ControlParameter to link the dropdownlist and the repeater) On my repeater during the ItemDataBound event i create dynamic dropdownlist controls, my code is :

On the Page_load event of my page i bind the data & recreate the control :

Everything works fine, datas are bound and SelectedIndexes are restore on every postback.
The probem occurs when user change different dropdownlists, if he choose to change the 1st dropdownlist the event is fire (normal), after if he modifies another dropdownlist the event is fire twice, if he modifies a 3rd time the event is fire 3 time etc...
I am trying to create a second grid in the same page with detailed info for a given record of the first Grid, but when I press select in the first grid nothing happens. I follwed everything I read.
regarding one issue I am facing. I created a httpmodule for hadling the unhandled errors and I need to log those errors using log 4 net in database.Everting working fine but I am not getting any error information once the error was hadled and I need that info too. I want to make it as a centralize module which can trap all errors and log those errors.How call application_error event of httpmodule from catch block...so that I can log that info there and I no need log in every catch block..
I'm not sure the best way to explain this but I want to take results from a stored procedure and list them but not in a grid. I am listing user profiles and I want to display a picture, name, description and other info from each record. But I want each in a group. How is this done in asp.net?
I'm using the GetOleDbSchemaTable to get column info from an access db, column_name and description, but getting an error that the bind statement can't get the properties. I know its there because I can response.write it from its table, schemaTable.Rows(i)!DESCRIPTION.ToStringdo I have to bind it differently than when binding actual data from a table using the column name for reference?System.Web.HttpException: DataBinding: 'System.Data.Common.DataRecordInternal' does not contain a property with the name 'DESCRIPTION'.
I am developing a website in asp.net that user asp.net membership, users and profile tables.I am trying to display all the users that are registered in a grid along with their first name, last name, email and other profile information . unfortunately all this information is scattered in various tables in the database ( aspnet_users, profiles, membershipsetc)... Can you please tell me how to configfure the datasource & columns of my datagrid (control) to achieve what I am trying to do .. ?????

In SQL database, if I rename Employees to Employeesx or change column DepartmentID to DepartmentIDx, record will not be deleted (it is right) without any error (it is wrong, suppose catch an error).

I'm building an ASP.NET MVC 2 site where I'm currently implementing an OpenID sign-up form. Unfortunately, I'm foreseeing a possible security bug/vulnerability inside my architecture.
Here's how I want OpenID login to work:
User requests /Account/Login, Controller sends back OpenIDLogin View. User enters their OpenID into the View, then OpenID authorization takes place, and finally the OpenID is returned to the Controller.The Controller checks whether the OpenID is currently in use by a user in the system or not. If it is, the user is logged in to that account. If not, the registration process begins.
And now, the OpenID registration process:
The OpenID identifier, as well as any other information provided by the OpenID provider (such as email address or name), is put into my custom ViewModel and sent to my OpenIDRegistrationForm View.The RegistrationForm View stores the OpenID in a hidden field to make sure that it gets sent back to the Controller.The user fills in the RegistrationForm View and sends it back to the Controller.The Controller creates the user account and puts the OpenID into the database.
The bug that I see within my architecture is that a user could modify the hidden value in the RegistrationForm View. Thus, they could spoof their OpenID! I will make sure to add another round of checking to the final Registration Controller Action to make sure that the OpenID that is provided doesn't exist yet, but there is still a possibility for spoofing. Can my architecture be improved somehow? I don't want this to end badly...
One solution I'm considering is encrypting the OpenID before I send it to the View and then decrypting it when it reaches the Controller. Should I try this?

I even created a global.asax file and on the Application_Error event, I wrote a code that would email me the error (and i'm not getting an email regarding that error when I get the error shown above). I know for a fact that the thread is going inside the "try" statement because I send emails to myself whenever it finishes certain codes inside of it. So how come I'm getting that error in my browser instead of it being handled in my "catch" statement? I have two problems here, one, why is the exception not going to my "catch" statement, and two, why am I getting that error in the first place.
i made a grid view with a table name tbgrid and i added data in it.so now data is showing in localhost and edit ,update and cancel button is also working. Now i want to put a detail view with this grid view so a single data show in detail view and update and edit and cancel button also work with it.
I know you've heard these questions, one million of times:1) I have a profile page with firstName, lastName, address1, address2, etc. and county as a 3 chars countryID, like USA for United States, GBR for Great Britain, etc. How do I connect the countries table (contains countryID and countryName columns) to display United States instead of USA? Of course I also need to update it selecting a country name (not ID) ?2) What will happen when I will need to give the page a more attractive look? Is this DetailView easily convertible in plain HTML form?
I'm trying to link a detailview to a gridview. Both are using the same datasource control and it's coming from an Access database. Both are showing data. The gridview is listing products fine and the detailview is listing details of some default product (maybe the first). How can I configure the two so that when I hit my select button on my gridview that it populates the details into detailview with the correct data for the selected product?
I am trying to store decimal values from detailview. But it doesn't work. It stores decimal values after rounding. Let's say if I enter length/width as 4.2000 then in sql it stores as 4.0I am using sql server 2008 and the field is defined as decimal(8,4).I tried diff combination but nothing is working.
