How can I access a control on page a.aspx from a webusercontrol.ascx
I do not know the technical term used to describe this, if any,the webusercontrol.ascx page contains a button.
onclick of the button, placeholder on main page must display the "required content".
if this were on the same page no problem.
but how to access across pages?
I am having a default page namely default.aspx in this i will have panel. And i will have 2 other forms namely Webusercontrol1.ascx and Webusercontrol2.ascx i will design the page with some controls now is it possible to load this page in to the panel which was on default page like as we did in WINFORMS.

View 1 RepliesYou've probably noticed that when you debug an error which comes from an ASPX or ASCX file (literally, not from a corresponding code-behind file), ASP.NET displays an error page showing you the source file and the line on which the error occurs. The source file being displayed is automatically generated from parsing the page/control. The question is: how can I see this source file without purposely causing an exception?
I'd love to hear that there is some programmatic way (the complexity doesn't matter) to generate source files (preferrably, .cs) from a series of ASPX/ASCX files.
Example. Consider the following ASPX page (the code-behind file may even be absent):

This means, theoretically I can open the .CS files passed to the compiler (namely, App_Web_sqj3krv3.0.cs and App_Web_sqj3krv3.1.cs) and see what ASP.NET has generated from my ASPX markup. Trying to rephrase the previous question: how can I obtain this file from an arbitrary ASPX file (assuming that the file is correct and hence no info will be given on where to search)?

View 1 RepliesI have a very simple Web UserControl derived from System.Web.UI.UserControl. At Design Time the user control looks perfect in the VS2008 Pane with all CSS styles. When I drag n drop this control on an aspx page, the CSS style gets applied but some texts get hidden and the CSS looks distorted.
I have checked the path of the CSS, UserControl and the ASPx page. All are in the same level under root. The aspx page just contains the UserControl in a FORM tag.

I am working on a page called Edit.aspx and on that page is a User Control.
Note: I need to access the User Control from a button that is on the Edit Page. Once I get a handle of the User Control then I need to access a DataList on that user control and finally I need to get the ID of a dropDownList
on the User Control

There is one user control say uControl.ascx. This has a public property Message. There are 2 aspx pages Default.aspx and Home.aspx which has the user control uControl.ascx. When a sumit button from Default.aspx is clicked some action takes place and the value for Message is set and then execution is redirected to Home.aspx. In Home.aspx the value for Message is lost.
Is there anyways that the value of Message is retained for both the aspx pages?

I have a control in a 'window control library' which handles - 'drag and drop' files from computer to a listbox control, I then reference this .dll in .aspx (See code below). Now, when i try to access this through webserver for drag
and drop files i get following errror - The type of the first permission that failed was : System.Security.Permission.FileIOPermission.
How do I handle this, so that drag and drop of files can happen over the webpage residing at webserver.

View 2 RepliesI am creating a WebUserControl in ASP.net and want to be able to access elements of that control later. When I access them though I am trying to access them together. For example, adding a CheckBox and a table to a control and then finding the CheckBox, checking whether it has been ticked and if it has been ticked, get the values from the TextBoxes.
I currently have everything loading on the page from the custom controls, but when iterating through the controls on the page, there doesn't appear to be a control of my WebUserControl type. All of the controls are there on the page, but they exist as seperate ASP.net controls.
Am I thinking about this wrong? Is there a better way to do this?
I have created a UserControl [uscAuditTeam.ascx], there I have a Dictionary list and I added some values.

I have a variable in an aspx file I need to use/recover it's value into an ascx web control that's in this aspx file. It's possible to do it? The aspx dynamically loads web controls depending the scenario, so this web control not allways is loaded.

What I want is this: When I click on 'select' on random row in gridview, then I like to display value from selected row immediately (like ajax) to aspx.page. How it is possible?

I also tried with jqeury (comment in selectedindexchanged function), but it does not work well, because user have to click SELECT two times to effect.

View 12 RepliesWe have some code which is designed to build up a key/value pair of controls on a ASP.NET webforms page and their values. We use the "Controls" collection and recursion to build up this key/value pair.
The only issue is that ascx controls don't appear to come back in the "Controls" collection. Instead we get the controls on the ascx.
Something similar to the following code:

The subCtl is never a ascx control. Is there a way to get a list of the ascx controls on page or better still a different collection that contains both types?
