I have a formview and I opened it in Insert mode where the fields were all blank as I expected. I then entered some data into the fields but instead of clicking insert I clicked cancel. I then entered the formView in Insert mode again and the previous data was still present.
how to set it up so it will be cleared if cancel was pressed?
How do I clear my formview after a record has been inserted or deleted? At the moment it just sits in the previous state with the same details in the fields, still with the Insert button. Either it would be good to drop the formview altogether (I have a grid view on the same page) or move into the edit mode for the just inserted record.
Also the same with the delete - the formview stays on screen with the deleted record details and the delete button still available - I know it has fired though as my gridview is updated.
When page load it is invisible. I have a button1 onclick make it visible and people can input data the press insert. I set it invisible right in Formview Insert eventhandler code.
When people click that button1 again to add 2nd record the form appear again as desired. However, the data from 1st record is still there.
What code I can make in eventhandler to make sure when button1 is clicked the Formview does not contain any data from last entry ?
The formview clear the data from 1st record if I did not set visible/invisible.
I have a combobox that is used as a control for Formview, so when the user selects a name from the combobox the data in formview displays in edit mode. However, some if the data that is displayed in formview needs to be empty. For example if the Date is being pulled in, it needs to be empty or null in edit mode.
View 4 RepliesI have a FormView on my page that shows customer information and below that a GridView that shows the product keys associated with the selected customer. The selected customer is controlled by a QueryString parameter named id. The product key GridView and the FormView both check the id property of the QueryString and load the associated data. I have created a New LinkButton at the top of the page that utilizes the FormView.ChangeMode() method to set the FormView in Insert mode.
My problem is that when I set the FormView in Insert mode, the QueryString still contains the id parameter from the last selected customer so when the page loads to insert a new customer, the product keys for the last selected customer are loaded. Obviously a problem. Is there a way to clear the QueryString parameters in the New LinkButton click event? One thing that works is to clear the DataSourceID of the GridView and rebind the GridView and then when the new customer is inserted, set the DataSourceID again. Is this really the best way to accomplish this?
I have been struggling for a while 72 hours with this .When I update the form view a NULL value is inserted in my product ID field instead of the productID from the drop down list.

I have a gridview, which on the row data bound method that inserts a row when comparing values on a particular field. If the two values are different, a new row is inserted, if not no row is inserted. This coding is working as a grouping gridview, and is working correctly. However, I have problem, and problem is counting the rows between each group, which I want to display in my blank row between each group, the value of which I am holding in a hiddenfield.
When I try to do it, the first group doesn't show the result, but is displayed on the next group. I am pretty sure that I am doing something wrong. My approach is that if the value between the last row and the existing row are different, then the value is one, on the next row data bound event, if the values are the same then the value is increased by one, else the value is one because it is a new group. Here is my code:

I have a DDL bound to a sqlDataSource, and I want to insert an item in the first position. I tried using this code in the onDatabound event:

But when I load the page, the item "None" is inserted twice at the beginning of the DDL? So I see something like:

Do I need to put the items.insert somewhere else, like on the pageLoad, to avoid it being executed twice, or am I doing something really wrong?

I want to initialize a date field in the FormView to today's date. So, in my page_load event I have:

Although, and subsequent loads of the page doesn't initialize the Text Box. I step through the code in the debugger and I can see that the code is executig, but something (the FormView bind?) is "clearing" the Text Box.
I have a formview that I am adding and editing items. I need to have a lookup button besides a textbox so I can click the button and show a webgrid listing items with their descriptions. Select one and enter the data in the formview control. I know how to put the data in the formview control with the FormView.FindControl method. But how can I add a lookup? Can I do this with a popup panel? And on the postback update the textbox control?
View 5 RepliesI have a group of radiobuttons. The field they are 'bound' to is of datatype tinyint (sql server), byte .NET. It is set to NOT accept nulls in the database column (col1) and no default value has been set for the column, or indeed, anywhere else.

If the user doesn't select any of them, I would expect null to be that the model would attempt to insert into the database. I would therefore get a validation error that I can display to the user, prompting them to choose one of the options.
However, instead of null, the model inserts a 0 into the database. As this does not fail, no error is raised.
I am not setting the default value to 0 anywhere, not in the mvc app or the database
First: Using the wizards in Web Developer 2008, is it possible to create multiple inserts into various tables? I'm having a question about the LinqDataSource. Does anyone know if it's possible to perform multiple inserts with the LinqDataSource? Let's say for example that I have 2 tables.
Table A

I am working on a site where I will need to be able to track ad impressions. My environment is ASP.Net with IIS using a SQL Server DMBS and potentially Memcached so that there are not as many trips to the database. I must also think about scalability as I am hoping that this application becoming a global phenom (keeping my fingers crossed and working my ass off)! So here is the situation:
My Customers will pay X amount for Y Ad impressions These ad impressions (right now, only text ads) will then be shown on a specific page.The page is served from Memcached, lessening the trips to the DB When the ad is shown, there needs to be a "+1" tick added to the impression count for the database
So the dilemma is this: I need to be able to add that "+1" tick mark to each ad impression counter BUT I cannot run that SQL statement every time that ad is loaded. I need to somehow store that "+1" impression count in the session (or elsewhere) and then run a batch every X minutes, hours, or day.
Please keep in mind that scalability is a huge factor here.
