C# - Unable To See Programmatically Entered Events In Google Calendar?

Sep 10, 2010

I've written a entry form for our company employees to enter marketing courses into the DB and at the same time add them to a Google Calendar. The Calendar is accepting the events, but the coloration of the event is different from a "manually" entered event using Google's interface. This leads me to believe that there is some property I am not setting that is causing the events not to be show on the calendar once it is embedded in our other company web pages.

The code used to enter events:

// Create a CalenderService and authenticate
CalendarService myService = new CalendarService("exampleCo-exampleApp-1");
myService.setUserCredentials("xxx@gmail.com", "xxxxxx");
CalendarQuery query = new CalendarQuery();

[Code]....

And this is the resulting calendar:

The "test event jasdf event" is the manually entered event, and the two events: "Test event 234" are the programmatically entered events. In any case, once I embed the calendar, the only event showing up is the "test event jasdf".

Anyone faced this issue before or had success with google calendar? If so, I'd like to see what you might have used to successfully create events and publish them.

C# - Creating A Google Labs-like Extension Feature?

Feb 1, 2010

In this application I'm working on, I have an extension system based on static events. The whole idea is taken mostly from the (very cool) extension system created in BlogEngine.NET.

Essentially, on Application_Start, an extension instance is created which hooks to static events on classes in the application. Take for example an extension that censors blacklisted words from, say, a forum message before displaying it to the page; When a ForumMessage.OnDisplaying event is triggered, the extension would take the ForumMessage sender object and replace blacklisted words with gibberish.

Example:

static class WordBlackListExtension {
private static string[] _blacklist = new string[] { ... };
static WordBlacklistExtension() { ForumMessage.OnDisplaying += DoWork; }
private static void DoWork(object sender, EventArgs e) {
// Do some blacklist filtering...
((ForumMessage)sender).Body = ...;
}
}

However, since there is only one instance of each extension in the App Domain, it occurs to me this only works on a system where there is a single, system-wide configuration for each extension. But what if I wanted per-forum or per-user control over those extensions, like in Google Labs? Per-forum blacklist, or per-user ability to enable/disable the extension? I would have to pass additional information to the extension.

So here's the part I can't wrap my head around - Assuming I have a fairly complex object model (therefore doing something like ForumMessage.Forum.etc.Config is bad practice);

How would you recommend to pass that information to each extension? Should each extension retrieve its own config? Maybe pass some kind of context object through the EventArgs? Where can I determine which forum's config to retrieve?

Creating A Textbox In C# With Unique ID Programmatically?

Jan 25, 2010

what the best way to create text boxes in my loop here so that the IDs are unique instead of just "TextBox" for all of them. I need to add up the Price based on the Price per unit and the Quantity.

My items are loaded from a database so there could be any number of them, so I need to generate the fields on the fly. I was thinking maybe an array of fields could be used like in a form application, or is this not the right way to go?

Here is my code:

AJAX :: Creating Reorderlist Programmatically?

Aug 18, 2010

I hope to get some guidance on how to create reorder lists programmatically because of the situation described below.I have a page where I want to have a toDo Iist for each of several (typically 10) milestone categories. I can think of 3 options.I don't know in advance how many 'active' categories there will be but I there is a known fixed total of about 20 categories, of which from 1 to 20 may be 'active'1. Have one Master ReOrderList And Then Nest the Category ReorderLists Inside 2. Create the reorderlists programmatically.3. Brute force approach. Hardcode all 20 reorderlists and their associated sqldatasources, and then set visibilitydepending on which category is active. This approach is the simplest but has the disadvantage of too muchrepetitive code and the reorder lists would be in a fixed order, when I really want them to match the category order.

I am stuck in chart controls...Here is my prob... There is a ListBox containing some items...when user selects multiple items from the list box I want to generate a dynamic table with the number of columns same as that of the number items selected in the listbox. I am calling it each time when a new column is created..Also the DrawChart method executes for the first column only and throws an index out of range exception! after the first execution...my code is not working...here

With Google Maps, Can Use Google's Own Popup Windows

Jan 11, 2011

I've implemented a google map with points and stuff that uses an address that the user inputs. When you click a point, the popup bubble appears with the name and address in.Often this name and address is a prominent location, as it's used for meetings and things, such as a university. If you google the address yourself on maps.google.co.uk then you get google's own popup bubble, which often has a photo, information, opening hours, links to directions, reviews, etc. etc.I am wondering if there's a way to use that popup dialog instead of my own, where it is available. I can't see anything in the API to do this.I'm using V2 as we support IE6 in a lot of our users, but I've been told recently I can upgrade to V3 should I need functionality from it.
