C# - Declaring A Session Dictionary In A Master Page?
Jan 29, 2011
How do you declare a dictionary called MyDic in the master page?
I want MyDic to hold lists of objects MyObj with a date as the key so that I can write something like this: "get the list for date 1/28/2011 from MyDic" or "put this list of MyObj from 1/28/2011 in MyDic".
I'd like to declare the dictionary in the master page so that I can access it in every page.
I have a very interesting problem about Sessions and Master Pages. I designed a small CRM web application with master page. Users could enter their expenses with this application. I put a label on master page. If users login to this site, I changed this label text. Label text is username. My problem is; when some users using this site at same time, usernames are conflict. For example; One client login and label which on the masterpage value is Ali. Another client login and label value is Ahmet. After that, If two clients process the same things on this site, Ahmet's label's value is changed to the value of Ali. I write it Session Id on URL. Firstly two clients take different Session ID when login to that page. When conflict occurs, two clients are the same Session Id that pages. I am using .NET Framework 3.5V. Is this ASP.NET bug ?
How do you create a dictionary of objects in the session? More specifically, I have a list of objects: MyList stores MyObject as the result of a linq query with the date as a parameter.
Now I'd like to store MyList in the session object in a dictionary with the date as the key. When the page needs a MyList for a specific date, first search the dictionary and if it's blank for that date, get the data from the GetObjects query and store the result in the dictionary in the session.
I have a site which has restricted access. Access is controlled via session variables.
There are a lot of pages to the site so I was going to check for the session variable via the page load event in my mater page. However, on certain pages I use the session variable in that pages page load event. This throws an error when the session doesn't exist, but what I want is the master page's page load to fire first.
What would be the most efficient way of storing a set of values in a session? I'm guessing it's either a List/Array or Dictionary. Basically, when a user selects an item from a DropDownList, a value (between 1 and N where N <= 20) is sent back to the server. I'd then like this value to be used as an index (if using arrays) or key (if using a dictionary) within the session. I don't want the value to be seen by the user, hence why it's not stored in the DDL. From what I gather, dictionaries are designed for key-lookups. However, since the scale is quite small, are there any overheads of using a dictionary that could make it less efficient in this case? Each corresponding value is unique to the user, so I've decided to use sessions.
I am using C#. I have got below format values in my SESSION variable ["FROMDATA"], I am using DICTIONARY to store the FORM Posted Data. see the related question.
Now I want to create a CLASS with METHOD in it, in which I will just pass the "KEY" and it will first check it for NULL OR EMPTY and then it will return its value from the SESSION Variable ["FROMDATA"].
Im trying to use code provide in this link below.http://www.codeproject.com/KB/aspnet/MultipleTabWindows.aspxim trying to have the below code in my master page instead of adding to each page. it works if i add to each page, but when i add to ,master page the session value for "WindowName" is always null.how can i fix this?
I am using the Forms Authentication in my application.
I have a master page and I have a default content page in the defaultUrl of the Forms Authentication. I am facing an issue: when the session expires the images and the css of the Master Page are not available.
How can I make the images available in the master page after the session expire?
I have a web application that contains a MasterPage and a Web.sitemap file for the navigation. I am loading the navigation into an <asp:Repeater> control and I associating it with <asp:LinkButton>; something like this:
[Code]....
I have two issues:
Setting Session Variables: I'd like to set some session variables when any menu item is clicked.Dynamic Url: Once the Session variables are set, I'd like to set the url dynamically after the Session variable is set The thing is, I'd like to use the same aspx file for two different menu items, and I'd also like to set some session variables at the time of menu selection. I am aware that I cannot use the same url when I define the url in the web.sitemap file.
I have a class that maintains a static dictionary of cached lookup results from my domain controller - users' given names and e-mails.My code looks something like:
private static Dictionary<string, string> emailCache = new Dictionary<string, string>(); protected string GetUserEmail(string accountName) { if (emailCache.ContainsKey(accountName)) { return(emailCache[accountName]); } lock(/* something */) { if (emailCache.ContainsKey(accountName)) [code]...
In my web application, I have to load different Master pages depending on the user log-in information. When I say different, I mean not just the colors but a whole new look[including navigation options]. So I am using 2 Master pages [one of them is set as default] and depending on the user information the other page will be used.
I got it to work by storing the user information in a Session variable and applying the master page dynamically using the Page_PreInit event. But the issue is, if I hit the back button, sometimes [yeah, only sometimes !!!] the master page is reset to the default page. Initially I thought it is a Session timeout issue. But it isn't, as some of the session variables still have data. Can anyone explain whats actually happening?
URL.... Still there will be need of url in ajax method if i put javascript in site.master.cs . As what i have understood fromĀ that mysite.master.cs will be like this :
I have a master page containing a tree and 3 dropdown lists. I am populating a context menu on right click of each node, and when clicked on any item of the context menu, it navigates to required pages.
My problem is after navigating to the required page, the selected values from the drop down lists and the selected node from the tree are getting cleared.
I can set the selected values for the dropdown lists by making some properties in master page. But how do i maintain the selected node?
In my content page, i have got the valuepath of the right clicked node.
Or is there any other way than setting the properties in master page?
I have a master page setup that is used throughout my site that is basically a header with a menu. I recently added a textbox and a button to this master page which is to be a quick search box that is available anywhere in the site. When a user enters text into the search box and hits the button, I need to load the actual content page which is used to search and show search results (which also uses this same master page), and have the text entered available so the search can be triggered automatically. Again, this search text box and button is now in my master page so it could be triggered from anywhere in the app... it serves as a convenient way to do a basic search from anywhere in my app, without having to first navigate to the actual 'search page' that already exists. You can also navigate to the actual search page, which uses the same master page, where there is many more search options.I'm thrown off by the master page arrangement, which I have not used until this project. What do I do?
Is it possible to inherit a sharepoint master page(as a parent) in another application's master page which will be treated as child (i.e. after integrating that standalone application with the sharepoint application)? I am totally new to Sharepoint..
I've got a Dictionary<string, string> object I'm creating:-
[Code]....
and I wanted to bind this to a dropdownlist. I know this is possible in code-behind, but is it possible to do this directly on the asp: control, something like
my question is that i have view named "Index" and in that view i wanna display "name" and i am generating strongly typed view and i have to use Dictionary<Guid, Menu> as model , how do i access Menu's properties as i wanna display name on the page ?
I'm trying to dynamically change the look of my main master page depending on what nested master page that the current content page is using .
So for example.
Main master page = main.master My nested page = nested.master (uses main.master) content page = content.aspx (uses nested.master)
So in the Page_Load event of main.master I want to add a switch statement that will check to see what nested master page is currently being used by content.aspx, or whatever content page is loaded.
So far I have got
protected void Page_Load(object sender, EventArgs e) { string nMaster = //This is the line of code that I am looking for. switch(master) { case "nested.master": //all my logic here. break; } }
I have a 3 level nested master pages and a content page. parent1 is the top parent, parent2 is parent of parent3 and parent3 is the parent of the content page.
I get an error 'Cannot find ContentPlaceHolder xxx...' where xxx is a ContentPlaceholder. It resides in parent2 and content page is trying to fill it.
Can content pages only use their direct parent ContentPlaceHolders or can they also use any of the higher master pages?
