Mar 21, 2011I need some help in the technical approach with the following scenario:-
1) A dropdownlist with some options. It has a postback action on the selectedIndexChange server side event handler. For example, lets say it contains language options such as english, french etc.
2) Repeater with a label and the textbox control. For example label is Emp Name and textbox is containing the Emp Designation. We have to save emp designation in the various languages.
3) Every time i pick something from the dropdown, i have to flip the textbox control and fill the form. Now i want to save the given data of the texbox in the viewstate. So that every time, the user changes the dropdown selection, he can see the repeater data corresponding to the dropdown selection.
4) I guess some kind of relationship between the dropdown option and the repeater data is needed. But how can we make this thing work.
Now which is the best technique to save the data on the server side? I have to keep it in the viewstate.

When I try to debug, I can see that it passes through the code of changing the ImageUrl, but when I view the source of website2, I can't see the imageUrl being change at all... Does anyone have a clue?

Mar 23, 2010I am working with ASP.NET VB using Visual Studio 2008 and yes, I am new to ASP.NET. This is what I am trying to do.
I have a form with 6 controls.
The first is a large ASP imageButton control called ibtnDisplay with a imageURL set to "Pic1.jpg", then there are 5 smaller imageButtons called ibtnThumb1 through ibtnThumb5 each with a imageURL set to "Pic2", "Pic3" and so on.
When ibtnThumb1 has a mouseover event I would like to change the image in ibtnDisplay to the image in ibtnThumb1, so from "Pic1" to "Pic2".
I have found many leads on how to change the image in the same control, for instance when the mouse is held over ibtnThumb1, I can change the image to a different picture in the same control. how to change the image on a different control.

VS 2008 Dropdownlist Selection Disables / Enables Another Dropdownlist
Aug 1, 2013I have a dropdownlist on my page with dates such as 1/1/2013, 2/1/2013, etc.
Then there is a second ddl.
If the date in ddl #1 is before 1/10/2013 I want to enable ddl #2.
If the date in ddl #1 is on or after 1/10/2013 I want to either disable ddl #2 or hide it (whichever's easier).
Disabling ddl #2 based on the selected date is a new requirement so I am enhancing the existing code. Obviously I want to do this without a postback, but I don't know what is the best way. I am trying to understand what an AsyncPostBackTrigger is because this is the existing code:

Jan 19, 2010I have one table which contains branch codes(primary key), Branch name and bank name columns. I have 3 dropdownlist boxes. the first dropdownlist is for the branch codes. When i select the a branch code i need the second dropdownlist box to populate with the appropriate branch name and the third dropdownlist box to populate the bank name at the same time.
Is it possible to have one table like mine and acheive this, if so how do i go about doing this?
I did read up on this but only came across ones with 3 tables.
I am using Visual Basic to do this.

Feb 25, 2011I have a 2 tabpanels in my tabcontainer and both the panel has their own header text. I have put the tabcontainer inside a table. Above the table (OR tabcontainer) I have a label and what I am trying to do is ... changing the label text as per tab selection ... code below:

But this is not working ... even if I select the panel2 my label displays the same text as panel1 header text ... it's not changing as I want.

So for an example, I type "S1234567D" in the textbox1, and I choose "IC No" in DropDownList1 it should redirect me to a page of the S1234567D's patient detailview. How could I do my code?

Jan 11, 2011I have a page that searches and displays records. Users enter a record number and then select the type of record to display from a dropdownlist control. They then edit some data on the page, and the app does some calculations based on the type of record that is selected from the drop down. How do i get to successfully pass the value from the dropdownlist to the method that does the calculation to ensure that the right formula is used? Here is the code that I currently have.

After stepping through the code, i noticed that when it gets to the "foreach" block, the value selected by the ddlRecordType dropdownlist is always the default which is "select one" and not any of the other selections that might have been selected.How do I get this to work, so that it can maintain the value selected from the dropdown and used in the code behind?

Entity Selection In View Without Using Dropdownlist?
Aug 31, 2010I have an EditTask View for editing the following properties for a Task that I am modeling.

[Project Name]
[Assigned Employee]
Task Name and Project Name are just simple text boxes.
I want Assigned Employee to be a selection from all the available Employee's currently in the database. Dropdownlist is not really an ideal option because there could be hundreds if not more possible employees.
I'm thinking a link to show a select employee grid listing in either a popup or another page where filtering can take place (b/c employee has other properties such as Dept) and the selection is made and the EditTask view is updated would be ideal but not sure. I'm new to ASP.NET MVC so I'm a little lost on where to start to implement this.
What is the best way to handle this UI scenario in ASP.net MVC?
Validation Of Viewstate MAC Failed / Change Selection In A DDL
May 7, 2010Sutring the website that im building, I opened up a page and left it open for about 40 minutes.
Next, i was trying to change selection in a DDL and got this error messag : Validation of viewstate MAC failed.
I read a bit abou the problem, still can't figure out why it happens, but it was written that a good workaround is :

and third : I've thought about another solution. If the problem occurred while waiting, perhaps force refresh after certain amount of minutes of user doing nothing with the page. I think that I can perform the refresh using response.redirect, but what about the "WAITING "CERTAIN AMOUNT IF MINUTES OF USER DOING NOTHING WITH THE PAGE" part?
