I have a home page for logged in users which lists titles to various posts that have been submitted. The question I have, is how do I make the title for each post bold if the user has not viewed it?
I have come up with the idea of creating a new db table and storing the userid and postid when the user clicks the link, but haven't come up with a way to translate that into bold/unbold links on the homepage.

Being new to ASP.NET I have run into trouble building my own Whack-a-mole program. I think my problem comes from using Buttons, which by themselves send post backs to the server, making the software unusable. The looks are in place, making new buttons show up in the grid, in different places by random. However, when a button is pushed - the score doesn't change (which I feel is strange).
Not so strange is that the Button doesn't work since it sends post back to the server - reloading the UpdatePanel. I think I should use a different controller like the CheckBox and style it hard using CSS (which isn't a problem). Is this the correct way to go, or should I make use of JavaScript AJAX instead?
Note to self: This technique shouldn't be used in a public application since it put too much unwanted pressure on the web server.

Currently whenever I need to send a request to a payment-gateway, for example, I redirect my page to another page on my website which has a form with several hidden fields. I then pre-populate the values of these fields server-side, and specify in the body tag something like 'onload="form.submit();"'
However, I'm wondering, rather than redirecting to this page, is there anyway that all this data can be collected and POSTed to the payment-gateway server-side?This will cut out the need to redirect the user to this blank page, and make everything a bit more tidy.

Im fairley new to ".net / C#" as in I'm 1/2 through my 1st book on it. I have a small business that has a website that i created. I received some help in understanding aspx form mailers and they work good. However my site is hosted at Godaddy and it appears that we have had at least one customer fill out our contact form and hit send, and it never arrived. Without changing any code we have received numourous other mails.
Is there a way to add code to my form mailer so when they hit send, The email they send is also posted/saved/or created to a new web page/or file with the info. That way should this happend again I can go there see the post and at least get there contact info?

Im really new to ASP.net. I am hoping to work with one TextBox, one Sumbit button and an unlimited amount of Labels....
I am wanting to input information into a TextBox then click a submit button and post to Label1, then empty the Textbox ready for further information.
The further information will then be added to Label2 after clicking the same submit button for the second time, then repeat this process for Label3, Label4 etc etc

I have used update panel and in that update panel I have kept ASP Table control in which I am creating rows dynamically which in turn contains 1 dropdown lists and 3 text boxes. My problem is that after partial postback text boxes and dropdown list are found but text property of text boxes is showing empty and dropdown list's selected value is set to the first record in that box. I have also stored entire table in session and retrieve it in(!isPostBack) condition at page_load event.
part of my .aspx page is as below
[code]....
I want to add one row on every addRowTbn click event there by retaining previous rows.

I have the following javascript:
$.post("/Authenticated/DeletePage/" + PageId);
showStatus("Page deleted...", 10000);
I would like to instead pass showStatus() text that is returned by the $.post() call, rather than hardcoded text. How do I do this?

This is what I have implemented, for further code, how to send the text of the text box to the server to store in variable or database without post back? It can be done by using Ajax and update plane, but I would like to implement it using a JavaScript script.
<div id="CommentID" style=" width:30%; height:30%">
<asp:Button ID="Button1" runat="server"
Text="Comment"
OnClientClick="visibleDiv('id1'); return false;" />
<div id="id1" runat="server" style="visibility: hidden; background-color:Green; width:100%; height:100%">
<asp:TextBox ID="TextBox1" runat="server"
AutoCompleteType="Disabled" Rows="3"
TextMode="MultiLine" Width="98%">
</asp:TextBox>
<asp:Button ID="Button2" runat="server"
Text="Post"
onclick="Button2_Click" />
<asp:Button ID="Button3" runat="server"
Text="Cancel"
OnClientClick="visibleDiv('id1'); return false;" />
</div>

I am trying to send data from text fields created on the client side (via jquery). The problem is the data from those text boxes is not being post back ( I'm using asp.net webforms)
I have used fiddler to view the post back data and it isn't there for those generated text fields.
I'm surprised no one figured it out. I was switching from server to non server controls I forgot to give the non ones a name field..........
// Add answer field
$('#addAnswer').click(function ()
{
count++;
var html = '<p>' +
'<input id="answer' + count + '" type="text" maxlength="255" runat="server" />' +
'<a id="removeAnswer" class="removeIcon" href="#"><img class="removeIcon" src="/Content/images/minus.gif" /></a>' +
'</p>'
$(html).appendTo('#answers');
return false;
});

The Register action gets called in the Account controller, showing the RegisterViewModel in the Register.aspx view. The form in Register.aspx is submitted/posted with answers to all of the form questions, except for the security question answers. If the user is created successfully, then I'd like to go to the GoToSecurityQuestions view using the code - return RedirectToAction("GoToSecurityQuestions", "Account"); I need to be able to keep track of the user name or ID of the newly created user so that I can persist the security questions to the database records related to the user. What's the best way to keep track of the user info between the [HttpPost] Register( ) and the [HttpGet] GoToSecurityQuestions( ) ?
[HttpGet]
public ViewResult Register()
{ return View(new RegisterViewModel()); }

The thing is that I'm creating a community fanpage, I have the membership database installed and I have created user profiles for the users, and it works fine. The thing I can't seem to find anywhere is how to capture the current logged on users username and save is as the author of a post in the database. Like right now, I'm writing a post, and when I click Post it will say it's written by Jeanz91 because I'm the user who's logged in. How do I get my site to do that?

I've integrated my website with Facebook Connect, authorization/single-sign on all working great.
Now im trying to post something to the user's wall, which im having some problems with.
First of all, im using the "old" JavaScript API (FeatureLoader.js).
These are the Graph API URL's im using:
private const string UserDetails_Url = @"https://graph.facebook.com/{0}?access_token={1}";
private const string Feed_Url = @"https://graph.facebook.com/{0}/feed?access_token={1}";
private const string TokenExchange_Url = @"https://graph.facebook.com/oauth/access_token?{0}";
I'm using the TokenExchange_Url URL to receive the unique user OAuth token to make calls with.
This is working fine, because a) i receive the token back, and b) i can issue HTTP Get Requests to the Graph API (i.e UserDetails_Url) and it works fine.
But, i cannot Post to the User's wall using the Feed_Url.I'm pretty sure the issue is i haven't got the appropriate user permissions to post to a wall (i.e facebook-side setting).
Now, i realise i can use the fbPublish API method client-side to do this, but i want to do it server-side with the Graph API.
I wont bother showing my code which attempts the call to the Graph API to post to the user's wall, as its pretty straightforward (HttpWebRequest, set method to "POST', set content type/length, write bytes to Stream, etc).
I think the problem is i need the user to grant my aplpication "publish_stream" extended permissions.
The Facebook Graph API doco says to do this in your authorization request:
https://graph.facebook.com/oauth/authorize?
client_id=...&
redirect_uri=http://www.example.com/callback&
scope=user_photos,user_videos,publish_stream
Which confuses me because im using the following URL to get the OAuth token:
https://graph.facebook.com/oauth/access_token?bunchofqsparams
Am i using the wrong Token Exchange URL? Why is there two different URL's to seemingly get the same piece of information?
Yes - i have read the Facebook API doco (numerous times), and yes i have read other similar SO questions, but they all result in using the client-side API to publish to wall, i want to do it server side.
For the actual "Facebook Connect" button, i'm using the standard FBML:
<fb:login-button length="long" size="medium" autologoutlink="false" background="light" onlogin="facebookLogin('/login')" class=" fb_login_not_logged_in FB_login_button FB_ElementReady"><a id="RES_ID_fb_login" class="fbconnect_login_button"><img id="RES_ID_fb_login_image" src="http://static.ak.fbcdn.net/rsrc.php/zB6N8/hash/4li2k73z.gif" alt="Connect"></a></fb:login-button>
When i click this (and not logged into Facebook), it pops up a window which the user can login. But it doesnt have the "Request Extended Permissions" dialog - shouldnt it? Or is that another popup i need to manually trigger?
So to sum up, here are my questions:
How do i grant extended permissions to publish to the user's wall?What is the correct URL for obtaining an OAuth token?Is there a definitive source for showing how to post to a user's wall using server-side Graph API calls?

I am writing a content management system using JQuery.ajax & C#. The JQuery calls an httpHandler and POSTS the html from an html editor JQuery plugin.
I get an error in the handler about unsafe content (html basically) but I dont want turn off validation for the whole page, just the handler (the handler is part of a web control not the page).
So, is it possible to turn the validation off just for one handler? Or do I need to encode the html on the client?
In the end I went for the encoding on the client at Javascript/JQuery HTML Encoding

I've got a view model that has some text properties. And I use Html.DisplayFor to display them on the screen. But those text data won't be post back, so in the case of failed validation, the returned view won't have those data. How do I handle this kind of situation?

I want to have it show when we leave or Tab out of the text box. Now is working , but only afte I click the submit button. Does anyone know how to code the following in order to make it work right away when we Tab out of the text box.

EventArgs e)
