Configuration :: VS2010 VB New Site Gets Errors Online But Not On Dev Computer?
Nov 29, 2010
I have tried to create an asp web site with VS 2010, using VB code behind the Default.aspx form. It works fine on my local development computer with Win 7, but it will not work when I try to access it on my web site after I post it there. If I create a similar asp file with VWD 2008, using the html style code (which I do not know how to use) and post it to the web site, it works fine.
i've deployed an asp4 site to rackspace.com using the vs2010 publisher; the default page is rendering ok, but when i click on the login button i'm getting the following error and trace
[FileLoadException: Unverifiable code failed policy check. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x80131402)] [FileLoadException: Could not load file or assembly 'ManagedCPPAPI.netmodule' or one of its dependencies. Unverifiable code failed policy check. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x80131402)][code]....

I have a program which I would like to publish to my company's intranet server so that employees are able to implement updates. I am not sure how to go about this but I have done some research on IIS and I was wondering if anyone could clue me in a little more with what I need to do. I have not yet downloaded IIS to give it a try as I'm not sure where I would go from there.
am doing an online computer service project. what i am looking for is an example of the contents that will be asked to the customer when he is logging an complaint. any suggestions, links will be really useful.
The old school way is to copy and paste and the files.. so we don't want that anymore..
So I notice VS2010 has 'Publish'... Should I use file system and just create a shared drive on the VM and publish that way?? Should I FTP and set up FTP on the VM FTP server? Should I use web deploy?? But that seems to be made for commercial web hosting ?
I have an ASP.Net 4.0 web application which very frequently loads data from the database and does heavy calculations on it. I want to cache this loaded and prepared data in a central cache that can be accessed by every user and computer who uses the application.
Simple use-case:
User 1 accesses webpage, cache is empty, data is loaded/calculated, data is cached User 2 accesses webpage, cache contains data, data loaded from cache User 3 accesses webpage, cache contains data, data loaded from cache User 1 reloads webpage, cache contains data, data loaded from cache Cache expires User 3 refreshes webpage, cache is empty, data is loaded/calculated, data is cached
I know that ASP.Net has a built-in cache mechanism. What I don't know is whether it can be shared between different users accessing the site on different computer at the same time. I would also like to know how the system behaves in a web farm environment.
I have an application where I use the AJAX Tabpanel. It works 99 times out of 100. But sometimes a JavaScript error appears on the site saying that the Tabpanel cannot be found. What I want is to check the site for JS errors and if JS errors appear then I will reload the site. In Pseudo-code:
Code:
If noJavaScriptErrorsAppear then Ok Else reloadTheSite Endif
Is that possible to implement in the serverside code e.g. in the page events?
I get all the web errors from my website emailed to me. My job is to google the client ip address and check if it is a real error with the website, or if it is an error caused by mcafee secure (just from crawling the site). There is another type of error that I only have to worry about sometimes. That error, when I google the ip address, will come up as botsvsbrowsers. If it's a bot then I don't think it's of concern, but a browser is. My question is how am I to tell the difference. I also completely don't understand the whole concept of botsvsbrowsers ip in the first place. If it's a bot, then who or what caused the error?
I have web applications which were developed before I installed during mid week last week the SP1 from Web Platform Installer and MVC3. My applications currently still use MVC2. When I open Site.Master, the VS2010 would crash every time and tries to restart. The problem doesn't apply to .aspx, ascx, or other extension. Does anyone have the same problem? Here is what I have done to my computer:
1. Installed MVC3 2. Installed VS2010 SP1 and associated components using Web Platform Installer (install failed several time, but succeed this morning) 3. Modified myProject.csproj file using NotePad to change <mvcBuildViews> from false to true
I'm a bit cautions about converting one of my sites to .net 4 at the same instant I move to vs2010. When I convert the sln and csproj files, there is an option to "convert web sites to .net 4" which I did not check.Once I get more comfortable using vs2010, I'd like to do that conversion to .net 4, but I can't find an option to do that in VS.
I would like to know the information about creating an online shopping site..What are the basic things need to follow in creating database for the online website. It would be better if i am aware about the same from some of the basic online shopping sites.
My site is running through Windows Server Standard, from where i can found 404 errors that are generating on site. I already checked Windows Logs --> Application but could not find them.
now i want to access this website from another computer.
how to do that....(means i want to make a web server and want to deploye my website and also want to access that website from anywhere over the internet)this is easily done into the wemp server but how to do into iis server. Is there any services of iis are dissabled onty any other seetting requiered.
In my company we have setup an architecture where all applications share the js scripts to avoid duplicate files and update hundred of files everytime we do an update to the javascripts functions.
The issue that I am having is when I create a reference to those scripts from website A to a function in website B, the intellisense doesn't work. Copy the javascript to website B is not an option. What I am asking if there is a way to make the intellisense work when i am working with projects in this architecture.

MY Fourth Doubt: Just upload my project folder as it is as it in my computer - Right?
After seeing the Hanselman "You are doing it wrong" video I start to use the Web Publish feature of VS2010.
What I'm really missing is that the websites sometimes gives errors while the site is publishing because the feature does not copy the app_offline.htm file to the server.
I do not want to start using MSDeploy scripts, because I have several sites and want to keep it simple.
Maybe there is a simple tweak to tell the wizard to copy and then delete the file.
i have problem in connection strin i host my site and database is in DATA DIRECTORY my site run successfully in offline but an error of connection string in online pls give me an example of string for online i use asp.net, C# and sqlserver 2005
iv'e looking the web for some solution without any success (some of them using VB, some of them for global file and some of them are not working) i want to put some code (not in application / global file) only in one page of my site, that send to my email address exceptions details in case there is some.(c#)
I just discovered that a (simple) website I'm working on will be deployed to a server running framework 2.0. My quandry is that I started it using VS2010 and framework 4.0.
Is the solution as simple as changing the compile to options? I'm assuming that I'll have to remove the Listview controls I am using as they didn't get introduced until 3.5 (i think).
Am I basically correct with this or am I missing something?
For the first time in my career, I'm working on an ASP.Net (v3.5) project that has been set up as a Visual Studio 2008/10 Web Site Project.
I'm not keen on this way of working this way for various reasons but for the moment and until such time as the company sees the virtue in working in an environment with namespaces, designer and project files etc., I have to continue with the existing codebase.
I've run into some odd issues since I began this but perhaps the oddest one of all is that althought VS lets me build the code, it doesn't reliably pick up compilation errors so these are not noticed until runtime.
I know the website model allows dynamic/hot compilation when a request is made for a specific but I can't see why it wouldn't do this when I manually (F5) build/rebuild the project. Its immensely annoying as you can imagine and I can't find a workaround.
I am working at a site not orginally devleoped by me. The problem is that all the pages are working fine and have no problem at my local site. but the site is not showing any content at live site from database. Niether it shows an error for it. How can I find the problem?
I'm new to ASP.NET. I have created a web application project using VS2010. I tried to deploy it to my web server (IIS7) based on article on the internet (eg. link) but I've got an error:
I'm used to use web deployment projects. Currently I am developing a new web application with VS2010 and want to try to get along with the new web.config principle and deployment issues.
I want to have this setting to be set to True in Debug, and false in Release. How must the entries in the Web.Debug.config and Web.Release.Config look like?Is there some documentation about the new web.config issue? Can't seem to google for the correct keywords.
