I'm working on a public site that soon will not longer be 100% public. Paid users will be able to access 100% of the features while "anonymous" users will access a reduced version. The problem is that anonymous users and paid users will access the same pages, but they'll see different things. I wonder about how to keep using cache for all pages. I have to 100% sure that I show the correct content for each type of user. Will be extremely bad to show a cached version of the paid site to an anonymous user (and the other way around). Preferably, without adding anything to the url to differentiate user type.
I have an asp.net solution in which there are two web application projects (client website and admin website) and also a class liabrary project in the same solution . In the live production server, the admin web app is within the client app (eg: client site= [URL] and admin site=[URL]). A class (with static variables) in class liabrary is userd to cache data. My problem is that i cannot get the changes to the static cache by one web project reflected to the other (becoz, i think, they seem to load in seperate appdomains).
We got a requirement to implment following structure of table (It's a sample; data source is dynamic). Notice that there are intermediate Total (sum) values for the month. If we have the data source (Date and Amount) besides Total, which is calculated out, generate this kind of table-style layout dynamitcally?
Date Amount ========================== 1 Nov 300 22 Nov 500 30 Nov 200 Total 1000 5 Dec 100 28 Dec 200 Total 300
I have two websites (one asp classic and the other asp.net) which we would like to implement some kind of security based on the client's hardware. We want something other than a password which could be shared. The purpose is to be sure access to information on the websites is not shared.
We were contrmplating storing hardware info in our database and validating against that upun website entry.
I have been looking into ActiveX (it would be acceptable to limit our users to IE), although we do have users who would like to use I-Phones. I have done no ActiveX development myself but have found a few articles on the web about ActiveX but that whole approach looks complicated. And also there seems to be a 64bit issue making it even more difficult.
So, I wonder if anybody has any advice as to what the best options might be for securing the website access in a way that would prevent sharing?
need to write Cache Methods in my asp.net mvc project.. I created one Class called CacheHelper.cs file.. Mainly In my appliction I am using three types GetData() ( getting data from cache)Add() ( Add data to the Cache) Refresh() ( Refresh data) or Flush()

I'm working with VS2010 and I wonder should I use one Solution for multiple web applications (web sites) or is it better to create separate web applications (with it's own solution) for each web site?
How can I manually clear ASP.NET server cache related to a give application/web site like what can be done on IE to clear browser cache for a give domain? BTW, I am using II7.
I have an ASP.Net 4.0 web application which very frequently loads data from the database and does heavy calculations on it. I want to cache this loaded and prepared data in a central cache that can be accessed by every user and computer who uses the application.
Simple use-case:
User 1 accesses webpage, cache is empty, data is loaded/calculated, data is cached User 2 accesses webpage, cache contains data, data loaded from cache User 3 accesses webpage, cache contains data, data loaded from cache User 1 reloads webpage, cache contains data, data loaded from cache Cache expires User 3 refreshes webpage, cache is empty, data is loaded/calculated, data is cached
I know that ASP.Net has a built-in cache mechanism. What I don't know is whether it can be shared between different users accessing the site on different computer at the same time. I would also like to know how the system behaves in a web farm environment.
I'd like to implement a POP3-mailbox processing component for our medium-sized consumer website. Our site uses IPSwitch as the mail/smtp/pop host. This processing component would let us offer "reply to this message board discussion via email" type services. It would need to run constantly; or at the very least, every 3-5 minutes or something.
I'm pretty sure I know what I need to do to implement this POP3 reader in C#, but I'm just not sure of the mechanism that makes it happen every 3-5 minutes, keeps it running when the machine reboots, etc. Task Scheduler seems a little brittle. Should this be written instead as a Windows Service? And if so, can I get some good pointers on how to write an Installable Service in C#? Or, if there's a better plan to run a daemon on an IIS box, I'd much appreciate it.
I need to implement a web site installer for my asp.net application. The installer will be handling following features - Deploy the .net web application on to the IIS server Setting up the Sql database connection to run the DB scripts. Execute all the DB scripts. Run another exe for the license management. If some thing goes wrong, need to rollback everything. I have heard about wix and install shield and wondering what would be the best technology suitable for this particular case.
The website compiled fine before as a regular website in VS 2008. However, in my attempt to convert it into a solution and separate out the business logic into its own project, I'm getting issues where it says that my codebehind references to controls cannot be found in the context. This is for every aspx or ascx file. All my references are there. Is there a correct way to convert a website into a solution? I simply drag-and-dropped the web files into a project in the solution essentially.
I'm trying to figure out a logical and quick way to implement the "PRG" design style in a small site I'm doing, and I'm finding an issue I can't think of a good way to solve.I have a form. It has 2 fields (first and last name). When the user submits the form, I check to make sure that they have data in them before I save it to the database. If they do not, then I show them a nice little error message and leave what little they have entered still in the form. However, in order to correctly implement PRG, as I understand it
I'm trying to create a .NET solution and add class libraries to it. First - in VS2008 I go to File > New > Project > Other Project Types > Visual Studio Solutions > Blank Solution. Then - after VS2008 creates the blank solution I right click on the solution and select Add > New Project > Visual C# > Class Library. However, when I add the Class Library to the solution, the solution icon disappears from Solution Explorer (although the solution name is still in the VS2008 title bar). Why does the solution icon disappear from the Solution Explorer when I attempt to do this?
Requirement(1): When any person is on the network, they can access this site EXCEPT one AD Group (Example: AD_Sales group).
Requirement(2): Also like for example if a person that has the access passes a url (Ex: http://mysite/Home/Index/Product/Letter) to a sales group person, he still should NOT access and need to display a custom message saying "You are not authorised to view this page".
If the scenario is like to issue the access to one AD Group and deny access for all others, it is fairly is. It can done from IIS. I am Wondering how to do this.
I'm using an outside page to update an image in my system. When I'm redirected back to the page I've worked in, I still see the old picture. I don't see my changes until I press ctrl+f5.
In one of our ASP.NET Web site solutions I need to roll out an update that might take reasonable time. It spawns multiple Windows Azure Workers and projects and so simple Deployment Swap is ruled out.
Essentially I'm just thinking about way to redirect all web requests to a "site is under maintenance" page for some time, given the project is under Windows Azure.
I'm aware of the app-offline.htm trick with IIS, but I doubt that Azure Web Role will allow this one to be deployed or run (it spins down the app domain).
We need to integrate creditcard/paypal payment process using paypal gateway in our asp.net web application. The process goes like this:User picks item in our Web site User fills out order info and goes to our payment option page User selects PayPal as payment User gets PayPal payment process in our site (without payment gatway redirection)nally we need to confirm to PayPal that we want to process this order and PayPal confirms to us that the order went through.
