I noticed that the asp:Button for example will work without javascript enabled in the browser. However any other control with an "OnClick" or "OnServerClick" event must use the javascript_doPostback.Are there any controls besides the Button that don't need to use javascript?I want to know because I want to be able to style the Control however I want without it looking like a button, and I want it to still work without the user having javascript enabled.
I am developing and Asp.net website. Occsionally I will have to display A Java Script dialog box. The dialog box will have two buttons on it. One labeled "Proceed" and the other labeled "Cancel". Then I need two Java Script methods to respond to which button was pressed. So I suppose my java script methods to handle the button press might look like the code below.
Anyway, I don't know how to invoke these methods when the dialog button are pressed.
I am trying figure out how I handle events in a dynamically added user control. Basically I can add user controls dynamically to my form (I am then storing them in an ArrayList in a Session variable that I use to reload them on my Page_Load). Each control has a button on it. However, whenever I click the button, the event never fires (code is never reached). I assume it has something to do with the control being dynamic, and when I click a button, it goes out of scope, and when I reload it something is lose in the event handling.
Here's my code for adding a user control:
Code: Protected Sub Page_Load(sender As Object, e As System.EventArgs) Handles Me.Load Dim alContact As New ArrayList If Not IsPostBack Then ' Dummy controls for testing Dim oContact As New ASP.ContactControl
Is there any way to handle clientside events for Ajax Control Toolkit controls? for example, is there any way to handle HoverMenuExtender's onmouseover event, make some operations, and let the control to continue it's execution?
This may sound silly, but I need to find out how to handle an Update event from a GridView.First of all, I have a DataSet, where there is a typed DataTable with a typed TableAdapter, based on a "select all query", with auto-generated Insert, Update, and Delete methods.Then, in my aspx page, I have an ObjectDataSource related to my typed TableAdapter on Select,Insert, Update and Delete methods. Finnally, I have a GridView bound to this ObjectDataSource,with default Edit, Update and Cancel links.How should I implement the edit functionality? Should I have something like this?
protected void GridView_RowEditing(object sender, GridViewEditEventArgs e) using(MyTableAdapter ta = new MyTableAdapter()) ta.Update(...); [code]...
I am a bit new to the asp.net/jQuery game, and I seem to be having difficulty. I am using colorbox to make a modal window popup, and I want an upload picture form on that modal window. I have a button to open up the add photo form:
I have a Gridview displaying Titles.I would like those titles to be LinkButtons that would cause event to update an AJAX UpdatePanel containing details about the Projects.I would not like the Gridview to be in the Ajax UpdatePanel and refresh on every click, rather just refresh the UpdatePanel.
I am building for a class I am taking. I am familiar with Win forms, but I am not sure how to duplicate the same behavior in a Web Form. The 1st question I have is: I have a menu on my web form, but I am not sure how handle click events from the items on the menu.
I have an aspx webpage in which an user control is added dynamically as follows:
UserControl testUsrControl = LoadControl("TestUsrControl") as UserControl; testUsrControl.ID ="test";
Then I tried adding an event handler of user control inside aspx like below:
testUsrControl.Drpdatafield_SelectIndexChanged += new EventHandler(this.Drpdatafield_SelectIndexChanged);
But this line is giving error at **testUsrControl.Drpdatafield_SelectIndexChanged **. The error is "Drpdatafield_SelectIndexChanged" doesn't exist in UserControl.How can get the testUsrControl's events inside aspx page dynamically.
I want to determine Sigle click and Double click on any particular row (anywhere in the row) using javascript.Let's say I have some records in griview and when I click on any row it display the data of that row, and when I double click on any row it display the data of that row with "Hello" word.
I would like to create a webpage which can handle user events like page navigation and page close. And also I would like to handle the event on server-side coding.
I've googled a bit for the exact order of all gridview events relative to and where inbetween page events. The only Microsoft article: [URL] is not very clear. I'm especially interested in the gridview row_command event relative to page events.
I have a page with 2 Controls, a ListBox and a DropDownList.
In the DropDownList you can select a PLACE.
In the ListBox you can see all DOCUMENTS for the selected PLACE.
If you select a DOCUMENT, the program does a redirect on the selected DOCUMENT.
So, there are an AutoPostBack and an Event (if you select another Item) on both Controls.
The problem is: If I select a PLACE, then I select a DOCUMENT (the pdf document is opened), and then I go back on the page and I want to select another PLACE, the program doesn't select another PLACE, but opens the old DOCUMENT, because there are 2 Events, one to change the PLACE and one to open the DOCUMENTS.
I'm using ASP.NET to develop a webapplication. In this application I'm using a dashboard. And now I try to develop my own widget for this dashbord. But I don't understand how to do the javascript part. In the widget I want to use the OpenLayers JavaScript map. It's created like this
<script> var map = OpenLayers.Map("mapDiv"); </script> <div id="mapDiv" />
Like this it works fine if I only want to use one widget at the same time. But if want to use it multiple times in the same dashboard, I get a lot of problem. I have two divs with the same id and two variables with the name map. So the div id is no problem, I generate it dynamically with ASP.NET. But how do I handle the JavaScript part, so that I don't overwrite my "map" variable?
I have a need to monitor the state of the Shift key, whether it is up or down. Its purpose is to notify the user that while the shift key is held down, the drag and drop operation they are about to perform is going to COPY the node(s), and not move them.
I have it working perfectly with the code below, however, if I hold the Shift key and perform the drag and drop, the hook no longer exists; the screen no longer responds to the key press and remains in the "pressed" state.
I'm using some of the typical ASP.NET's Validation Controls in my website. Now I'm trying to disable the JavaScript in my browser to test my application and of course the Validation Controls no longer works. I think it's best to try to make them work using one of the solutions down here instead of reinvesting the wheel and build a validation layer for the page or my objects -Am I thinking right?-
What do you think of these options and why:
Include in clicked button's event a code to check if the page is valid and if not explicitly call the Page.Validate(); method Check if whether the JavaScript is enabled and if not I should call Page.Validate();
How to call server side event(textchanged) in javascript. When the user enters the data in text box and directly closing the page with out allowing the textbox to fire the textchanged event when textbox autopostback property set to true. Now i want is when the user closes the page the changed text in textbox should affect the database and textchanged event should fire only once.
I am having an update button on my from on clicking update i would like to prompt the user as Do you want to delimit the record with Yes and No buttons. If the user clicks on Yes i would like to execute the code which can delimit the record if not just update the record.
My sample code
protected void btnUpdate1_Click(object sender, EventArgs e) { EmpID = Convert.ToInt32(HiddenField1.Value); if (ID == 2) {
I am creating a ASP.Net server control to manage locations. The control is a composite control containing several text-boxes, labels, and a link button. I use the AJAX Control Toolkit to provide a modal popup which contains a Bing map. All the Javascript is in its own file and used as an embedded web resource.
The link button is what opens the modal popup. It also needs to call a Javascript function that initializes the Bing map (onclick = "GetMap();"). There are instances when this server control is placed within an Update Panel (and there is no way to avoid this). When in an Update Panel the link button loses its onclick event. I understand that this is because during an async postback the portion of the DOM that defines the content of the Update Panel is thrown out and reinitialized, resulting in the event breaking. When the control is not in an Update Panel everything works as intended.
I have tried registering events on Page.Load and Page.Init, like so:
[Code]....
I have also tried flat out writing the function call to the page:
[Code]....
I have put breakpoints on the lines inside each delegate and they do not get hit. I am not aware of any special way to register events of a composite control's child control or the Page.Load/Page.Init events when being done inside a server control. Is there some special way to register these events? (Note: Both those code blocks above are in my CreateChildControls() method)
Below is the GetMap() Javascript function. As you can see it is pretty straight forward.
I am looking for a Library that allows me to create Charts like the "Annotated Time Lines" that are e.g. used on Google Finance. I can't use the Google API because it relies on Flash and my chart should not only work on all common browsers but also be usable with mobile devices like the ipad. I don't need all of the features of Google's Solution, but displaying linked event flags in the chart is an essential requirement and the ability to arbitrarily zoom and pan the chart would also be nice, the latter feature is however not a must on mobile devices and older browsers.
A serverside solution that transparently generates plain image charts if flash (or other client features like canvas-elements) is not available on the client would also be ok, I have asp.net mvc 2 running on the serverside.
An open source solution would be great, but a commercial library or component is also an option.
I have a user control in an asp.net web application. The control outputs an html list that is customized based on the currently logged in user. The list items are generated from a database look up and the user control is formatted to appear as a drop down list in the page.
The ID and class properties are all necessary for formatting and other scripting. The control is meant to be used as a selector and the rest of the page should react to which item the user selects.
What I am trying to do is add click events to the list items. When the user clicks on one of the items in the list, I want to capture which item the user selects in the list (does this require a postback?) and do something with it in the code behind (< this is key).
I am more of a middle tier and db tier developer and UI development is not my strength so please consider me a newbie in that regard. I am not sure how to proceed or what to inject into the output string to enable this.
Is their a way to handle the event of an Asp.net radio button being selected in an Aspx web form using Java Script? Suppose I have 3 radio buttons on a web form and for each radio button selected there would be a Java Script method that would be called for each different radio button selected?
how to do this using Java Script and Asp.net radio style buttons?
Below is an example of how I currently doing my solution using Asp.net and a C# event handler.
