Create Methods To Do Stuff Like Opening The Connection To The Database?

I want to be able to create methods to do stuff like opening the connection to the database.Right now if I want to do that I have to put all the code to open the connection with the database in every class.What I did is create a new class called methods, this class is in the App_code folder.I have researched but don't understand how methods are created and how to call them. If someone can give me an example regarding a database connection method, I might be able to really understand how a method works. Basically, this is the code I have to use everytime I want to open a connection to the database:

I have a page where a user can insert some order about some product. In that page there are also live statistics which is being refreshed every 20 seconds to reflect the current price of a product using asp.net timer. This live panel fetching these prices from a database.
When sometimes an order is being inserted, I get an exception saying that the connection is closed and the insert command cannot continue. I suspect that when the insert command is given, if at that exact moment the live update is being refreshed, then they both need to access the database, and they are using the same SqlConnection Object. So when one finishes, the connection object being closed even if the other one is using the same connection object.
Before closing a connection, how can I be sure that no other methods are using that connection?

I want to extract some keywords out of a query string for a search application in asp.net.I decoded the url string first, so it's plain textI have this to start with, but I want to add a keyword group

I would like to create an ASP.Net page without all the codebehind and designer stuff. Basically I want to go back to ASP classic, but keep the CLR and Base Class Library that makes .Net oh-so-wonderful. I'd like just a page something like this:

However there seem to be some problems with that. The Request object is only available from within a Page object. I wish to completely delete the codebehind and designer pages. No intellisense Anything else I should be aware of before I get too deep into this? No idea how to start pulling in extenal libraries

I'm left maintaining a proprietary codebase from a third-party vendor. The vendor is still sort of around, but support is limp. The site is ASP.NET.I have made some changes but I am having a really hard time getting IIS to compile these changes in. The bin/ directory has what I believe is a precompiled dll for the core classes. I've changed these but it doesn't recompile. I have tried deleting the dll but then the app refuses to build saying that the Global.asax can't inherit the type anymore, so I don't really know how to rebuild with changes.

I am new to Visual Studio 2010 and ASP.Net, and when I first connected my SQL Server to Visual Studio it created huge files full of my SQL classes (maybe this was LINQ classes), and I accidently deleted/corrupted those files, and now I want it to create those classes again. Can someone tell me how I can do that?

I'm trying to create a search page that searchs one specific table in the entrie datbase.Basically someone writes what they want in a textbox in search.aspx, they click the search button, and it takes them to another page called search_results.aspx, carrying the inputted text along with it. What search results is supposed to do is at page load, its supposed to query the entire database for all values that are LIKE the text in the querystring, then transport the entire value set of each row that has a field matchign the query string, and then it's supposed take those values and put them in a template that presents them in the way that I want.
The only thing out of all that that I don't know how to do is write the code for taking the querystring and putting it up against all the values in the database like that. I know that you can find a value in a specfic comlumn, i.e.
SELECT Column1, Column2
FROM Table1
Where Column1 = 'blah1', 'blah2'
but how do you write it so that it looks at all the columns for 1 or 2 specfic values (the querystring), and then it returns the entire for each time it finds them?

I have just used the Import and Export Wizard to copy my production SQL Server database, which uses Membership and Roles. I used the option to copy all the data from existing tables and views and did not modify the mapping in any way. Things do not seem to have gone well.....
My source database has a bunch of views with names like vw_aspnet_Applications,vw_aspnet_MembershipUsers, etc. The copy database has these listed as tables!I wondered if running aspnet_regsql.exe might fix things. I needed to run this anyway to create all the missing stored procedures for Membership, etc. However, it failed with the error:Setup failed.Exception:An error occurred during the execution of the SQL file 'InstallCommon.sql'. The SQL error number is 2714 and the SqlException message is: There is already an object named 'vw_aspnet_Applications' in the database.Creating the vw_aspnet_Applications view...I am a bit lost. All I want to do is to create a total clone of my production database for test purposes. Where do I go from here?

I am using VS2008 and oracle 10g ODP.Net. The oracle database that I used in the connection is working and tested it using sql plus.The connection string when used in a GriDView works perfectly. Now when I created a new listview control with the same connection it gives an error.Database schema could not be retrieved for this connection. Please make sure connection settings are correct and the database is online

I want to show just a 8 entries pro time, and above the table make some kind of navigation (like 1 2 3 4 5 ..) and if i need to see next 8 entries I#m clicking on the number 2, i see them. I dont know how can i do all this.
i working with mvc, and i want too that this solution is dynamic, that by more entries automaticly will have longer navigation 56 enties = (1 2 3 4 5 6 7).

I wrote some code to connect the application to it's database, then I created some code to use the connection code and retrieve, update or add some values to the database, Also I might have some code to deal with other stuff than to deal with the database
The code is a little complicated, maybe it's simple but it's not short, for example to write a good piece of code to just retrieve a single value so I could set the controller with this value I used this :

I might even add some code to store some info in the database about any exception is thrown, I think the code is pretty basic, yet it's not small, given that it's the smallest piece I'll need, some huge code is written for adding or editing new items, and also consider that it's not the only code I'll write in the page, the page has more needs.
I've provided a detailed case I hope!...So what do you think will be the best way to make my page fast and easy to read and have an organized code I've started placing every code in an appropriate method, but some methods are common so I create them again in every page that needs them like a ConnectionToDataBase Method, and mean while I think I just organized the page so I could mainly look at Page_Load and see what are the called methods and then scroll down to read the definition but It's still a big page and note the best practice I think
Sorry for all the big question, I just provide details so I could get a reasonable answer for my question, I hope everyone benefits from it as most questions are pretty basic, newbies like me needs some detailed cases and answers to get a better start.

I am trying to create different search methods using radio buttons. This is a web app. using asp.net and vb.net
1)Radio Button 1 - search by Account Number - txtAccountNumber
2)Radio Button 2 - search by Customer Last and First Name - txtLastName, txtFirstName
3) Radio Button 3 - search by Customer ZipCode - txtZipcode
One search button - btnSearch
By default, the search button is aligned to the txtAccountNumber (next to txtAccountNumber)
If option 2 is selected, the search has to align to txtLastName, and other txtboxes are visibly disabled
If option 3 is selected, the search has to align to txtZipcode. and txtboxes are visibly disabled
I tried the followings, but it did not work.

I have a web app that is trying to open a SQL Server Database and it's not working. The error that I am receiving is below:
"A network-related or instance-specific error occurred while establishing a connection to SQL Server. The server was not found or was not accessible. Verify that the instance name is correct and that SQL Server is configured to allow remote connections."
What needs to be done regarding the highlighted line in the error message?

I have an application, which connects to a Oracle 10g R2 database, but what it is doing is opening lots and lots of connections and is not disposing them.
My application is using the MVC model, and I have Database Connection Class, which on unload of the page calls my dispose method, which consists the dispose and close commands. Further, on model control, on each of methods requesting data from the database, I am calling the close method on Oracle Data Reader.
