C# - Create Page Without All The Codebehind And Designer Stuff?
Sep 9, 2010
I would like to create an ASP.Net page without all the codebehind and designer stuff. Basically I want to go back to ASP classic, but keep the CLR and Base Class Library that makes .Net oh-so-wonderful. I'd like just a page something like this:
<html>
<body>
<div>
<%
int customerID = Request.QueryString["CustomerID"];
//Customer and DataAccess classes come from an extenal assembly
Customer customer = DataAccess.GetCustomer(customerID);
%>
You asked for Customer with ID: <%=customerID;%><br />
Name: <%=customer.Name;%><br />
Phone: <%=customer.Phone;%><br />
</div>
</body>
</html>
However there seem to be some problems with that. The Request object is only available from within a Page object. I wish to completely delete the codebehind and designer pages. No intellisense Anything else I should be aware of before I get too deep into this? No idea how to start pulling in extenal libraries
I fixed my last web project and I have to fix another one.I created a new page and it puts the name codefile attribute correctly.I paste in the html, but it doesn't create the designer file.All I see is the aspx and the .vb code file.
I want to extract some keywords out of a query string for a search application in asp.net.I decoded the url string first, so it's plain textI have this to start with, but I want to add a keyword group
([?&])q=[^&]+[&]?
I get this ?q=harbour landing dental&I'd like to trim off the stuff for pure words, but not sure if that's possibleI also have a long list of possible query string value fields that I want to check against
I want to be able to create methods to do stuff like opening the connection to the database.Right now if I want to do that I have to put all the code to open the connection with the database in every class.What I did is create a new class called methods, this class is in the App_code folder.I have researched but don't understand how methods are created and how to call them. If someone can give me an example regarding a database connection method, I might be able to really understand how a method works. Basically, this is the code I have to use everytime I want to open a connection to the database:
Is it possible to create a login/registration system on my site without using any of the bulit-in stuff from ASP.NET - just like you can do in PHP? I've almost completely forgotten everything I learned about ASP.NET
I'm left maintaining a proprietary codebase from a third-party vendor. The vendor is still sort of around, but support is limp. The site is ASP.NET.I have made some changes but I am having a really hard time getting IIS to compile these changes in. The bin/ directory has what I believe is a precompiled dll for the core classes. I've changed these but it doesn't recompile. I have tried deleting the dll but then the app refuses to build saying that the Global.asax can't inherit the type anymore, so I don't really know how to rebuild with changes.
But I dont want to add it to the master page because i am using like button on only ONE child page.. is there a way I can tell asp.net to add this line when that particular child page loads?
how to create designer.cs file by using .net code. Basically what i want to do here is that i have a bunch of aspx and ascx files created by previous versions of vs.net that lacks designer files and now i want to create designer files for those. I can generate empty designer files but what i want is that my code should generate the designer file so that i can remove the extra code from cs files.
How do you delete more than one entity at the same time in the designer Entities list. it seems that the designer interface only allows the selection of 1 entity at a time....
I've a project where i need to allow users to design their own pages for their application. So i want to create a designer/editor using ASP.NET/C# or silverlight or using anyother MS technologies. The designer should have the following featuresDrag and drop controlsMove the controls in the designer toposition it Preview mode/Source ModeProperty Window for Controls with specific propertiesI've not any designer as a hosted application. I basically want to create something similar to visual studio designer as a web app.
I have a search page that is used in multiple places with multiple 'themes' throughout my site. I have a few divs that can have their background color changed based on a radio button selection (whether they are enabled or not). I can do this just fine by changing the css class of the div on the fly with javascript.
However, these themes could potentially change, and the background color is grabbed from a database when the page is created. Right now I do this in the C# codebehind:
In the Javascript I need to change this color to make it look disabled, and when the user clicks back to this div I need to re-enable it by changing it back to its original color. But since I only knew this color in the code-behind, I don't know what it was in the Javascript.
So my thought was to create a css class in the resulting HTML page when the page is loaded with the background color I need. Then I could simply switch from the divEnabled and divDisabled class in the javascript. But I'm not exactly sure how to do that.
I want my codebehind to dump a very large set of JS into the ASPX page. This is required, as I can't use external JS code for this component, and the code is also unique to each customer. Is it possible to do this from codebehind? I know how to set the value of text boxes etc. (.Text/.Value = xxx) but I can't see how I can just 'dump' code straight onto the page.
I have a asp.net web project in which I am trying to view the Default.designer.vb page. I thought there was a button at the top of the Solution Explorer that would allow you to show the "Designer" files but I don't see it. How can I view these files?
I got a question about the page with "ascx.designer.cs" suffix which has been generated by VS 2010 for all web forms.what's the role of these kind of pages?
We're migrating from the web site to the web application model. Is there a way to allow the designer to use ftp to upload a single aspx page (foo.aspx and foo.aspx.cs) without requiring the use of the VS2008 Publish feature? We're a small shop and haven't bothered using source control as it wasn't much of an issue with the web site model. If the designer uses the Publish feature my binaries will be overwritten. I know that static pages are compiled at run time so I thought this would be possible but my tests result in errors. I've clicked around for some guidance but come up empty handed.
How can I convert the following aspx code into code behind code?
[Code]....
I want the following code to be craeated on the fly (runtime). I will only add the root level grid to aspx and then in page load I want to add subsequent grids.I know we will use GridViewTemplate to add the grid but not sure how to structure it. The steps that I follow:
1. set the required properties of gridLevel01.
2. add BoundFields for level01.
3. Add template field for level02 grid....but not sure how to set other required properties like color and stuff....also not sure what position to add the subsequent gridviews.
Do I need to add the child grids to root?? I know the level2 grid will be added to level1 but what about level 3?
Should bar on the HTML designer show the tag name? It sometimes does!
Here's an image of what I referring to.
I thought for sure it must be a bug but considering that I heard that MS was rewriting the editor (designer too?) I am starting to question whether I know how to use it!
Note the "TD" tooltip on the bottom right. Shouldn't this "TD" appear on the bar on the far right where the mouse would be?
im developing an asp.net website application but suddenly all changes i make to the page in the visual studio designer are not being saved for some reason. Every thing i do in the code behind file is saved with out any problem, also if i edit the .aspx file but in sourceview, the changes are saved, but if i drag a control from the toolbox onto the page designer and set some properties and then save, nothing will have been saved when i close and re-open the page, all changes are lost.
