I'm getting the following error when using the Database Publishing wizard to script a SQL Server Express database for deployment. I have googled for hours unsuccessfully. Anyone had this isssue or know how to solve it?
Timeout expired. The timeout period elapsed prior to obtaining a connection from the pool. This may have occurred because all pooled connections were in use and max pool size was reached.

onething is not clear to me that in asp.net 1.1 there was asp.net project type but from 2.0 there is no asp.net project type option rather
there is option called website. in website type project no solution is created and no link is created with IIS.
why microsoft design in this way from 2.0. i think there must be soldin reason & advantage behind it.

if i have a separate dll for each page on my server and that is working fine. if I make some changes in code behind file of a particular page say, xyz.aspx page. then I have to upload the dll of that particular page. and that refreshes the whole web application and all sessions and other values got disturbed in the application. Is there any way that uploading the xyz.dll (of page xyz.apsx) on refreshes the xyz.aspx and didn't disturb the whole web application.

This is what my website looks like:
When I build the website and upload everything as it is, I get this error:
Quote:
A network-related or instance-specific error occurred while establishing a connection to SQL Server. The server was not found or was not accessible. Verify that the instance name is correct and that SQL Server is configured to allow remote connections. (provider: SQL Network Interfaces, error: 26 - Error Locating Server/Instance Specified) I guess I have to deploy Database, or?

I have an ASP.NET web site project, which I'm publishing to IIS on my Win2k8 R2 server. It has a default page called login.aspx. I set that up on the published web site.
Trouble is, every time I publish a new version of the web site, the login.aspx entry gets erased from the "Default Document" settings of the web site in IIS. This is very annoying. How can I publish my web site from Visual Studio without wiping out the default page every time?

The file system I'm publishing to is a not hosted by me, but by my university. IT here offers students their own web directory to host a website. My intention is to use it to host projects for classes and demo them for my professors. You can enter in a specific link in any browser to go to this website and view it as long as there is a file named 'index.html' in the directory with some presentable html code.
So here's the problem. I want my website to be written using ASP.NET and when I use VS2010 to publish my ASP.NET website to the 'File System,' I cannot simply open up my browser, type in the normal link, and have it display. It just shows up as a list of files in the directory and I can see all my source code for the web site

I have a website in C#/ASP.NET that is currently in development. When we are in production, I would like to do releases frequently over the course of the day, as we fix bugs and add features (like this: [URL]. If you upload a new version of the site or even change a single file, it kicks out the users that are currently logged in and makes them start over any forms and such. Is there a secret to being able to do deployments without interfering with users for .NET sites?

How do I exclude Web.config from server when publishing website (not web application project) in Visual Studio 2005 I can see information how to add setting to the Web.Config but in this instance the Web.config is fine on the servers; so I do not want the problem of introducing possible faulty Web.config to a live environment.

I have published a website when is a plain page with login and CreateUserWizard control in it. I have used the "aspnet_regsql.exe" file to configure my database such that there I can see the tables like dbo.aspnet_users. I have also added a the following to the connectionstring in web.config
<connectionStrings>
<add name="ApplicationServices" connectionString="Data Source=***location of DB***; Initial Catalog=***DB Name***; User ID=***My ID***; Password='***My Password***';" providerName="System.Data.SqlClient" />
</connectionStrings>
I kept getting the "
Validation of viewstate MAC failed. If this application is hosted by a Web Farm or cluster, ensure that <machineKey> configuration specifies the same validationKey and validation algorithm. AutoGenerate cannot be used in a cluster.
" whenever I try to create user account using the CreateUserWizard control.

I come from a PHP/Rails background where deploying a website often means FTP/Checkout of the source code in the correct directory on the web server.
However, I've been asked to develop an ASP.NET website and some people have advised me to "Publish" the site instead of copying over the source code directly. Apparently, this converts the codebehind (.cs) files into compiled DLL's etc.
My application does not contain any specific secretive business logic. It's a common shopping cart app. My question is if this is a good idea? How does not making the C# code reside on the server make the app more secure?

In VS 2010 I have created an ASP.NET website. When I press the green play button {Debug} the site runs on my local server fine with no errors at all.
Finally I was happy with the site, so I went and purchased Windows Shared Hosting. I got all the details ..etc
Then in VS 2010 I right-clicked on the solution and choose Publish Website. I enetered my ftp details .. it asked me for username and pass < I provided those and clicked OK.
All seemed fine ! the files transfered over to the server ..etc But for some reason I now get errors !

In one of webforms user must enter the percent of tax and then I convert it to the float number and finally save it into database. here is a sample:
Dim txtMyPercent
txtMyPercent=Convert.ToSingle(txtPercent.text)
label.text=txtMyPercent
insert into(txtmypercent)
This peice of code, works perefect while runs via Visual Studio 2010, however after publishing, numbers are converted to integer. Thus it can't be inserted into Sql server database .... Server OS: Windows 2003 x64 IIS: 6 .Net Framework: 4.0
