Designer File Auto Generation Programmatically In C#?
Jan 11, 2010
Can somebody tell me how to generate designer.cs files automatically. Basically we have some bulk aspx and ascx files that needed to have designer attached to them. With a simple C# program we can easily do that [Create blank designer file] but the problem is that how to generate the code being generated by vs.net automatically. Is there any dll or function available that help us parse aspx or ascx file and fills up the designer.cs file.
Problem: designer.cs is not regenerated by visual studio 2008. This concerns both web forms and master pages.
The only error or warning I can find is: Generation of designer file failed: The 'src' attribute cannot be an empty string. Line 1, Column 0
But the strangest thing is, it shows the warning always in the last page, I had or have open.
I know I'm not the only with the regeneration problem, I tried several solutions:
Deleting the *.designer.cs file. Doesn't work for me, the above warning become's an error when I try to rebuild the solutions or when try to covert to web application.
Reinstalled sp1 didn't work either.
Refresh in de designer view, getting the above warning...
how to create designer.cs file by using .net code. Basically what i want to do here is that i have a bunch of aspx and ascx files created by previous versions of vs.net that lacks designer files and now i want to create designer files for those. I can generate empty designer files but what i want is that my code should generate the designer file so that i can remove the extra code from cs files.
i have a table called product which contain fields of product_code and product_name....now i want to show product name in gridview field whenever i write product_code in a column.....when i write product code in gridview column then product name will be generated automatically in gridview column...how can i do this
After pre-compiled a ASP.NET web site, I got many files with the names like
App_Web_accountbalance.aspx.dfa151d5.dll
Do you know the rule for the random chars (in bold) above? Can we fix the random chars? The reason to fix it is that if we modify AccountBalance.aspx file later and re-compile the web site, can we just replace App_Web_accountbalance.aspx.dfa151d5.dll.
How do you delete more than one entity at the same time in the designer Entities list. it seems that the designer interface only allows the selection of 1 entity at a time....
I'm about a custom WSDL File Generation for a Classic ASP.NET XML Web Service.
The issue is I didn't find out how to specify mandatory parameters in my WSDL, since ASP.NET Web Services are generated on ?WSDL location, I thought I would do that from Web Method Annotations, but I found no issue.
Also I have been on a pose where the developer could hide WSDL Generation by specifying a custom WSDL Binding. But in my case I need to let other system access ?WSDL location with a Customized WSDL.
I have some aspx.designer.cs and .cs files that have disappeared due to some pc problems. This is for a tutorial I'm doing online. I've been able to download new aspx and aspx.cs files for this part. When I paste them into the directory and include them in the project I still don't have a aspx.designer.cs file. Is there a way to get this to be created while pasting the other files into the directory?
Ok, here is the problem:I drag and drop my database table into dbml, so i have new table diagram on dbml. For example, I have User table which has two columns(ID, NAME)Then something.design.cs automatically generates User class and definitions for ID, and NAME.
for example: [Code]....above code is automatically generated onto something.designer.cs then I made change on something.designer.cs :
[Code]....
then i added new column in database table named "Password" if i delete old diagram in dbml and drag new table, it re-writes whole something.designer.cs file, so i lose all codes i wrote before.I googled it and people say about Partial class, but i dont know how to use partial class.
I fixed my last web project and I have to fix another one.I created a new page and it puts the name codefile attribute correctly.I paste in the html, but it doesn't create the designer file. All I see is the aspx and the .vb code file.
I have been using .NET 2.0 and VS 2005 for web application project and lately i am noticing that .designer.aspx.cs does not declare all the controls 'automatically' which r there on .aspx...i add them manually and some of them get lost, like the additional 'div' controls which i have on pages inheritated from the master, everytime i reload it.. ..i fully understand that i am not suppose to manually change anything in designer.aspx.cs but what do i do with this issue? Is .net 2.0 ,VS 2005 are too obsolate and i absolutely need to get on .net 4.0,2010..
When I format an accordion control using a skin file (as opposed to entering the formatting as attributes on each <asp:Accordion> tag), the control renders as expected when the website is run. However, in the VS2010 designer, the control won't display but instead shows the generic "Error Rendering Control" box which hasthe exception, "Collection was modified; enumeration operation may not execute."
Should bar on the HTML designer show the tag name? It sometimes does!
Here's an image of what I referring to.
I thought for sure it must be a bug but considering that I heard that MS was rewriting the editor (designer too?) I am starting to question whether I know how to use it!
Note the "TD" tooltip on the bottom right. Shouldn't this "TD" appear on the bar on the far right where the mouse would be?
I work in VS 2008. Whenver I add a server control(Label) and set it properties in aspx.vb and build the solution, I get the error "Label1 not declared". While analyzing this issue I noticed that the event handler statements for the Label1 where not added in the designer.asp.vb file. These statement would actually be added automatically when I drag and drop a control to my webpage.
I would also like to inform the scenario after which this problem came to me. I was working in VS 2008 , VS 2005 and VS 2003 in the same machine.Could this have caused the issue ?
Now each and everytime when I add a control, I am adding the "With Events" code in the designer page to make my build succesfull which makes me to spend more efforts.
My solution has a web.config file and it works, no problem. However, when i make a change to a file in one of my projects and then build, it auto-generates a web.config file for that project. Then if I go to the file in my browser, it throws a windows authentication error. I then have to delete the web.config file and it works. Why is it auto-generating this web.config file?
I built an AddProduct page that adds a new product into the catalog, and uploads an image into a ProductImage folder. The productID is auto-incremented and I would like to assign that number as the name for the related product image.
I have tried reading the last ProductID in the database, then increment that number by one and assign it to the new file(image) but only works if no last record has been deleted from the table.
I have an ASP.NET Webform and inside the form I have an input type of file. What I would like to happen is for the form to post immediately after the user chooses a file.I have a server side function I would like to be called, let's say UploadedFile()What is the easiest way to accomplish this?
