Email The Html Of An User Control?

Aug 2, 2010

I have an user control for users to input information, once the page is submitted, an email will be sent to web admin, the email body is supposed to look exactly the same as user control. Current I am using XSLT to generate email body, which is really difficult to maintain because everytime I made changes to user control I have to make the same changes to the XSLT. What is the best way to do this?

Mar 17, 2011

I'm just starting out with WebMatrix and would like to know how to style a @Html.TextBox("email") and @Html.Password("password") control? I've tried (in my CSS file):

}

But that has no effect at all. How can we style these types of controls?

Writing HTML To A User Control?

Nov 24, 2010

I'm creating a web user control and want to get some html from a datasource and write it to the page. I initially though I should just use response.write, but the problem with that is it writes the message above everything in the page the user control lives in - I guess because the uc is built before the page.

Html Tags In User Control?

Jan 4, 2011

Just wondering what the best approach is to labelling ID's (thats html id's) in .net.

For instance I may have a user control that is embedded in a page more than once. If I have a standard html div in the control with id="my-user-control", then it will duplicated when the page is built.

So what is the best approach for styling your html within user controls, master pages and .net in general?

I am creating a web user control for a simple poll. I am currently registering it on the page and then referencing it via tagprefix.

The form for the poll is in basic html (no server controls) and is in the front-end of the web control. How can I change the look of the user control depending on the settings passed into it? Is this possible without using server controls?

Web Forms :: Can't Reference An Html Element From Code Behind In A User Control

Feb 2, 2010

Here is the contents of my test.ascx file:

<%@ Control Language="C#" AutoEventWireup="true" CodeFile="test.ascx.cs" Inherits="UserControls_test" %>
<p id="XXX">aaa</p>

and here is the contents of my test.ascx.cs file:

using System;
using System.Collections.Generic;
using System.Linq;
using System.Web;
using System.Web.UI;
using System.Web.UI.WebControls;
public partial class UserControls_test : System.Web.UI.UserControl
{
protected void Page_Load(object sender, EventArgs e)
{
this.XXX.InnerHtml = "BBB";
}
}

I get an error when I refer to the id, "XXX" (underlined above) in code behind which reads: 'UserControls_test' does not contain a definition for 'XXX' and no extension method 'XXX' accepting a first argument of type 'UserControls_test' could be found (are you missing a using directive or an assembly reference?)

I have tried XXX.InnerHtml and I have tried this.XXX.InnerHtml and get same problem.

How do I successfully refer to ID'ed HTML elements in code behind?

Inject Code Into Masterpage / Html Head From A User Control?

Jan 10, 2010

I am struggling with something that I guess should be standard practice really. I have a number of user controls that use some JQuery plugins. I do not really want to link to the extra CSS and JS files from my main masterpage as this would cause extra load to the user the first time they hit the site, (admittedly it would only be the once), so I was just putting them links into the top of the user control. Then I looked at my source HTML, not nice! Even worse for controls that repeat multiple times on a page.

So I was thinking is there a way of injecting them into the Head of the page when they are needed from the User Control. For that matter is there a way of doing it to the footer for JS stuff?

Server Controls In User Control Are Null When User Control Serves As A Base User Control ?

Jun 4, 2010

I don't think I understand fully how ASP.NET does inheritance of controls.I have a user control, ucBase, which has an asp.net label in the ascx file. Code behind references the label and it works fine during run time if the control is not a parent for another user parent.

If I have another user control, ucChild, inheriting from ucBase, the label in ucBase's code is always null. ucChild has no controls in its ascx fileThe server controls (like the label) needs to be declared in the ascx file and not created programmatically.What needs to be done for ucBase to see its own controls when it's a parent user control?
