The website was developed in dot net 3.5 SP1 and running ok within dot net 3.5 SP1.
But, after recompiled it into dot net 4.0 and changed the app pool to "integrated", it failed to run. The symptom is that the website was running ok for few minutes. Then, the following message will appear:
[NullReferenceException: Object
reference not set to an instance of an
object.]
System.Web.PipelineStepManager.ResumeSteps(Exception
error) +197
System.Web.HttpApplication.BeginProcessRequestNotification(HttpContext
context, AsyncCallback cb) +89
System.Web.HttpRuntime.ProcessRequestNotificationPrivate(IIS7WorkerRequest
wr, HttpContext context) +189
If we recycle the app pool, it will work for a few minutes and then same error appear.
I am runnign the SQL 2005 with Membership structure and two web-applications on the same server box. Each web application uses its own Application Name in aspnet_Applications table. There are two application names. The users from web-app1 could not login to web-app2. Each web-apps uses different Application Pool. Each providers section of Membersip use correct applicationName from aspnet_Applications. The first application is working correct.
The problem is that sometimes the users could not login to web-application 2 during day. I get error Event code: 4006 Event message: Membership credential verification failed. The users start to login again after I Recycle - Stop - Start Application Pool of this web application.
I am trying to add Failed Request Tracing to my IIS 7/ASP.NET server.
First, I create failed request tracing for "all content, error codes 400-999" because want to save all errors.
Then, I try to create a trace for "all content, time: 5 seconds" because I want to trace all "long" requests. However, IIS 7 gives me an error: "A failed request trace for this content already exists".How can I add this second trace for all content that takes > 5 seconds?
I have written and published a web service that returns a dataset in xml. This works great as long as I am the only one running it locally.
I have the following piece of code so that I can access the web service:
Code:
[code]....
Server was unable to process request. ---> Retrieving the COM class factory for component with CLSID {03BE6394-1DEF-40F1-A53D-9AAB2B688CB8} failed due to the following error: 80040154.
It also yells at me for not being able to step into the code on the server, which makes me believe that there is a security issue.
I know I am being kinda vague, but I really don;t know how to call the webservice from an aspx page to pass the data in and return the xml stream.
I have trouble to deploy a mvc site to IIS 6.0. If I deploy it in "simple" http, there is no problems, i can browse my pages, everything's fine...But my site need "https" : so I enable SSL and security certificates, then the site crashes : it display an error 503 : Service temporary unavalaible...Server is a Virtual Machine, if i try to access to IIS in WM (typing "https://localhost/ in a browser), it displays "Connexction was aborted" : Not the same error, but not very different neither...I'm not very familiar with IIS configuration, is there something I missed in config ? Why site is working in http and not in https ?
Yes, it's the infamous viewstate again! Now I am aware that problems can ocurr if you load controls in the wrong order or if the viewstate IDs are incorrect after postbacks etc etc. But my issue is that I am not really creating any controls dynamically - I only have one user control on the page.
More importantly, the issue seems to be occuring with just one user. What could be the problem? Corrupt browser cache?
ok - so I've narrowed it down a bit more. When I select an item from a drop down list control (which is a UserControl) - and then attempt to rebind my grid using the selected value, the error occurs.
The selectedvalue on postback seems to be zero every time (because the control is not in the viewstate somehow?!). The UserControl (containing the dropdownlist) is added at design-time.
I've already edit the web.config to add the profile and allow the <profileService> and <readAccessProperties>
i can load the profile successful without ajaxbut when i use
Sys.Services.ProfileService.load(null,LoadCompletedCallback, ProfileFailedCallback, null); it jumps to ProfileFailedCallback and the error_object.get_message() is
Just a few weeks ago, it was working fine. But now when it calls this line, I get a configuration error, "Failed to map path '/'"It's not project specific because I have another project with the same line and it fails with the same error.I've tried running VS as Administrator and still get the same results. My development environment is Windows 7 and Visual Studio 2008.Something on my PC must have changed but I can't figure out what.
i have these message in only one user of my web ASP.NET application.
Validation of viewstate MAC failed. If this application is hosted by a Web Farm or cluster, ensure that <machineKey> configuration specifies the same validationKey & validation algorithm. AutoGenerate cannot be used in a cluster.
After changing the Master Page in ASP.NET MVC 1.0 application, I keep getting this familiar error when I try a postback without filling in the mandatory form elements which are validated by the server:
"Validation of viewstate MAC failed. If this application is hosted by a Web Farm or cluster, ensure that configuration specifies the same validationKey and validation algorithm. AutoGenerate cannot be used in a cluster."
The new page refers to a lot of jQuery code with lightboxes, superfish etc. Could that be a problem while doing a postback?
If I revert back to the original master, the error disappears and I'm able to validate form fields. Both masters are located in the same path.
After a little debugging, I've realized that a directive in the master page:
<% Html.RenderAction("menu", "nav"); %>
is creating the problem. The directive asks the "menu" action of the controller "nav" to inject a partial view Menu.ascx. If I delete this line from the new master page, everything works OK. My app's left bar navigation relies on this directive to work properly. Is there any way I can get around this?
I am trying a MVC 2 application on my computer's IIS and when I go to a page that contains a form I get the following error:

What is strange is that on the begining the form is ok but after a while I started to get this error. And why at the start everything was ok and after a while I started to get this error?
I've just got a new computer and have moved my Web Applications from the old XP over to my new Win 7 machine. When I run my the applicatinos, I get an error that says "Failed to map the path '/'.". Line 130: Line 131: // Get encryption and decryption key information from the configuration. Line 132: Configuration cfg = Line 133: WebConfigurationManager.OpenWebConfiguration(System.Web.Hosting.HostingEnvironment.ApplicationVirtualPath); Line 134: machineKey = (MachineKeySection)cfg.GetSection("system.web/machineKey"); I'v read several answers to this, and they all say that we should run VS as administrator. But my colleague runs the same applications, with the same settings on his similar computer/system, without running it as administrator. So my thought is that it must be possible to solve this withour running VS as administrator. Does anybody know why and perhaps how to solve it
Exception Details: System.Data.SqlClient.SqlException: Login failed for user 'Gullanian'.
I've created the database 'Scirra'. I've also attempted to add a login, but nothing seems to work. Logging into SQL management via Windows Authentication is the only way I can gain access to my DB's.
Ideally I just want to create a user, and that user having full control of DB. So I can run scripts etc.
Here's a few details:

Idk why it says v2 for asp.net, all my application pools are set to 4.0.

I know this is a very common problem and a quick search in google offers a lot of solutions. However I could only find one person that came across it in the same way I am and no-one answered their question.
The scenario which causes this is if the page has been left dormant for a period of time and then a button is pressed which runs some sort of command. This might be pressing the logout button or trying to submit a contact form after having walked away at some point and then returning and hitting Send.
I do not have posts or actions in my form, it looks like this: <form id="form1" runat="server">
I have also added the following line to my web.config: <pages enableEventValidation="false" iewStateEncryptionMode="Never">
