View 3 RepliesIn my site i m redirecting to login page when i m clicking on loguot button. before that i have written follwing code for clearing cache/history-
Session.Clear();
Session.Abandon();
Response.Cache.SetCacheability(HttpCacheability.NoCache);
Response.Cache.SetExpires(DateTime.Now.AddSeconds(-1));
Response.Cache.SetNoStore();
but when i m pasting previous page url in address bar then it is showing that page. i dont want to show that page.
In my aplication (ASP.NET + c# ) when user goes to a aspx page , I need to clear cache first.
Does anyone have any idea how can I progrmaticaly make clear cache on an aspx page, or in it's code behind (c#)?
I created a custom 404 page and set its output cache duration to 7200 seconds (the pages themselves aren't updated more than twice a day, so I figured this was reasonable).
I ran into an error on the live side of things when I uploaded it, and I'm trying to debug and solve it. The problem is that I can't seem to figure out how to get rid of the cache itself, which definitely appears to be getting in the way. The reason I say that relates to my stack trace:
Server Error in '/' Application.
Input string was not in a correct format.
Description:
An unhandled exception occurred during the execution of the current web request. review the stack trace for more information about the error and where it originated in the code. Exception Details: System.FormatException: Input string was not in a correct format.

I've been trying to debug the ExtractURLComponents sub, and even commented out every line in it.
[Code]....
I'm still getting an error, even with every line of the sub commented out. So this is why I'm thinking it's got something to do with the cache. I tried clearing it with a different page using this:
[Code]....
I'm not sure if there's anything I'm supposed to do to clear the cache.
My web client requires client-side output caching since it makes use of its own Back and Forward buttons (which basically just call the browser back/forward buttons).
The issue I'm having, however, is (of course) when the user signs out of the app. The client-side output cache remains so anyone can click the "back" button and it appears to be signed in again. I've researched a few solutions, but most involve server-side output caching or no output caching at all.
I've had success with server caching and HttpResponse.RemoveOutputCacheItem, but unfortunately I need the client side caching.
Is it at all possible to clear this client side output cache upon logging out?
How do I force a control+F5 (deleting cache) when updating an application? The users will not do this so I need to force this. Can we use some kind of flush method checking version or...?
View 1 RepliesI would like to reset/clear an item in the Cache, but without resetting the application or writing a specialized page just for this. ie, a non-programmatic solution.
View 3 RepliesI have a asp.net web application and I'm using cache (HttpRuntime.Cache) to save some stuff from db.
I also update db from time to time so that data in db does not match the data in my application's cache.
Is there any way how to clear my application's cache without modifying any source code or republishing the page?
I tried to restart IIS and to clear browsers cache
I am inserting and updating the image from html file upload to my gridview / insertion goes fine , but when i update the image by clicking on edit using onselectedindexchanged event of gridview, I fetch the image then change it with other image, with this simultaneously i rebind the gridview, in the beck-end everything goes fine it updates and replaces the image but in gridview it won't show after updated. I am using postbacktrigger on my submit button, but gridview won't refreshes, until and unless i click on address bar and press ENTER , or until i won't press CTRL+F5 to clear the browser cache.
View 1 RepliesI have a page that deploys a user control to display an article. The page will show a different article depending on the ID parameter fed in via querystring, and there are many thousands of articles in our db. Here is the problem: I need to cache the user control to improve performance. But editors constantly need to go in and make changes/corrections, which they want to appear instantly on the site. Is it possible to clear the cache for a specific article only once it has been edited? ie for the request article.aspx?id=123? If so how would I do this? Otherwise, if the cache is cleared for all our content every time a single piece of content is edited, it will defeat the object of caching in the first place. I have tried using a cache key as recommended here: [URL] However, this apporach suffers from the drawback mentioned above. have also seen that you can set caching up to be cleared by changes to the db. However, the particular table concerned holds content for a number of other sites and would also have the same disadvantage.

We have a company product (asp.net website) that gets compiled and distributed to our clients. I need to figure out a way to allow us to add in an ad hoc aspx webpage into the website (so it recognizes the master page, the forms authentication, assemblies, etc) without having to provide them with an un-compiled version of the website product.Is this possible. Is there a better method than having a special compiled version of the website on their server.
View 1 RepliesI was commissioned to write a search asp.net page for a company. Page works great, they finally ask me to deploy to the web server. I RDP out to the web server, and instead of finding a normal deployment, I see all the aspx pages along with their code-behind files. They do not pre-compile their pages.
So in an environment like this, how do I deploy my asp.net page? I can get pages to run that don't have dependencies on other things, but this particular page uses Linq. So in my web project, I have a dbml file, and it's generated pages. I have put the dbml and related files on the webserver. The page fails when it encounters the using datacontext statement.
How can I tell my page where this code is?
when we publish an asp.net website, there are 2 file types created under 'bin' folder, .dll & .compiled files. When we deploy to production do we need to copy the .compiled files or just copying .dll will do?
I know it's precompiled at this point but what's the .compiled file for ?
I have a website with a global.asax file with some debug code in Application_Start, which inserts some debug information in a table in the db:
void Application_Start(object sender, EventArgs e)
{
Log.LogToDb("App Starts");
}
I have 2 versions of the same website, one compiled and the other one just plain code.The plain code website correctly inserts these records in the db, but the compiled one is not doing it.
I have a feeling the Global.asax file is being ignored by the compiled website. I can see the dll for it in the in folder: App_global.asax.compiled and App_global.asax.dll although I can't see a Global.asax file in the root folder (do I need one?)
I must say the website is compiled with MSBuild and then obfuscated using Dotfuscator.
Recently I got a strange behavior, the website hangs and just doesn't reply unless I go to iis and restart either app pool or whole IIS - BUT what is the most strange thing is that in case I go to remote desktop of the server and try to access it locally it DOES work just fine. I read couple threads about deadlocking and hanging because of memory leaks and non closed sql connections BUT why it still does work from the local?In case there is something wrong with the code - why does it still work from locally?
View 2 RepliesI have an an intranet website running under IIS6 (under a specific port, not the default one) with a integrated windows authentication enabled and uses an application pool configured with a service account. the issue is, if I access the website using the server name with a fully qualified domain in the URL, it throws a login prompt (doesn't work even if enter my windows login credentials), but if I use the IP address of the server then it works fine. I need to do to get the URL with server name working.[URL]
View 3 RepliesI am working on a setup package that installs a web site on IIS7 and IIS6. I've already made it for IIS7, now I need to make it for IIS6. But I am working under windows 7 so I can't install IIS6 on it. Any way, I have to test my setup project. What are the ways to do it (preferrably free and legal ;) ) ? I can think of a remote connection to a machine that already has IIS6 and using a virtual machine, for example virtualbox.org . But even though virtualbox.org is free, WinXP with IIS6 isn't ;) .
View 4 RepliesI'm using an outside page to update an image in my system. When I'm redirected back to the page I've worked in, I still see the old picture. I don't see my changes until I press ctrl+f5.
View 2 RepliesI have a really weird problem that I've been investigating for at least one week now. I deliver a website hosting both ASP classic and .NET 3.5 content in IIS6 on a Windows 2003 server environment with MySQL db backend. The solution has been installed on several servers (some hosted in WMWare) with no problems. On one specific server, also hosted in WMWare, the user experience great performance issues on the website. The problems are most seen when using database resources and is not limited to either .net or asp classic, but I am still not sure that the problem is only related to database calls.
Following components are involved:
IIS6 .NET FW 3.5 MyODBC 3.51 / 5.1 MySQL 4.x
Code executed on the server using all resources above runs smoothly when the IIS is not involved. The website shows times up to 2 minutes to execute code that takes 2 seconds outside the IIS. The exact same code is executed. Using profiling tools, I've seen that the great loss comes within calls to unmanaged code, for example when System.Data.ODBC namespace to calls into myodbc.dll.
The tricky part is: If at least one console user is logged in to the server, the performace problems are not seen anymore. When the user logs out, the problem appears again.I have tried to reinstall all components above, tried different versions of MyODBC, tried different website authentication methods, tried to run website under administrator privilegies, installed various MS KB's with no success.
