I currently have 2 x ASP.NET 3.5 web applications in IIS7 (lets call them WebParent and WebChild).WebChild is nested within the WebParent listing in IIS7 and is set up as an application (rather than just a virtual directory within WebParent). Both currently use their own (Classic) application pool. Both WebParent and WebChild have their own fully defined web.config files in their own root directories.
We are working on a web application that creates more web applications. Each web application will have to get a Url Rewrite rule (URL REWRITE MODULE 2.0).As far as I know, there's no way to add such rules without modifying the web.config file (am I right??).So my plan was to work with multiple web.config partial files. One main .config file, and lots of .config files per application (every file will contain it's web application url rewrite rules). This way sounds a little bit messy, but I can't think of anything else, and suggestions will be welcomed.
I have a config file linked from web.config e.g.<features configSource="feature.config" />When I make changes to the "feature.config" file the IIS application appears to restart, is this expected behaviour?
When I open my ASP.NET site in IIS and try to open the .NET Trust Levels, I get an error message:
.NET Trust Levels There was an error while performing this operation.
Details: Filename: ?C:inetpubwwwrootmyappweb.config Line number: 445
Error: This configuration section cannot be used at this path. This happens when the section is locked at a parent level. Locking is either by default (overrideModeDefault="Deny"),or set explicitly by a location tag with overrideMode="Deny" or the legacy allowOverride="false".
I've checked a few places, but I haven't found anything that seems like it would be locking that setting. Is there a systematic way of determining where that setting is locked?
I am running into a problem with a web.config in a child project that has the same connection string setting as a parent. We have this in several of our web apps but there is one case where we want a child not to use the parent web.config. Is there a setting or command in the child web.config to ignore the parent web.config?
So I've got two listviews; one nested inside the other. The parent is being bound to a collection of objects that contain fields such as MaxPrice, MinPrice, and SuggestedProducts. The nested one is being bound to the SuggestedProducts collection of the parent item. How could I reference MaxPrice and MinPrice in the nested listview? Is it even possible? If you need any clarification, leave me a comment and I'll update my question.
In my website I have two forms: parent form and child form(dialog box). Their expected behaviour is like this: if clicked on 'show' button on parent form, a dialog form opens that displays a gridview. In dialog form, if clicked on 'select' button it closes itself and returns value in selected row back to parent form.
To achieve this I write following code (.cs) : in parent form:
void ShowBtn_Click(object sender, EventArgs e)
{
StringBuilder jScript = new StringBuilder(); [code]....
Now problem is: the code in parent .cs works fine, it opens the dialog properly. But when clicked on 'select', instead of returning back to parent, it opens the same dialog again in new window. This newly open window says "Done but error on page" at left bottom.
I wanted to know if we can pass values from Parent page (in this case from Default.aspx page) to the user control and maintain those values on subsequent "Add/Load" of user control.
So in short, if I click the "Add" button it loads my "webusercontrol" and also I am able to pass my default.aspx dropdownlist value to this dynamically loaded user control and assign it to a "Label or Textbox" which resides in my "webusercontrol", now the problem is that the value doesn't persists! What I meant is , when I click "Add" button again the "webusercontrol" gets loaded again perfectly but now all my "Label's" in webusercontrol has the new selected value from the default.aspx dropdownlist.
So say for instance I have a Dropdownlist in Default.aspx page with Values "Apple, BlackBerry, Nokia" and initial value to be passed is "Apple", I click the "Add" button, now my "Label" inside webusercontrol has the value "Apple", perfect! Next when I click "Add" button again and select a different value to be passed this time say "BlackBerry" now I have 2 webusercontrol loaded on the page, so that means I have 2 "Labels" with different ID's, but now my first Label initially had the value "Apple" because that's what I had passed and now when I passed the value "Blackberry" both the labels of my webusercontrol has the value "BlackBerry" instead of one being "Apple" and another "BlackBerry"
Is there a way to resolve this issue? may be Dictionary List?
I have a login control and at is nested 2 deep in a header control i.e Page --> Header Control --> Login Control. I cannot get a reference to the control on the page using FindControl. I want to be able to set the visible property of the control like
[code]....
I ended up using a recursive FindControl method to find the nested control.
As I understand it, in IIS7 if I can get to it I should see both custom additions in my web.config as well as the mime types defined in the IIS manager at the machine level.
I don't understand how to get to this data. I have messed with the configurationmanager but I am not getting anywhere. I can get a section names system.webServer but I don't see any of the actual data as colleciton of properties or as xml.
I am trying to port an existing ASP.Net 1.1 website to another web server that currently runs IIS7 and a number of websites that target either .Net 2.0, 3.5 or 4.0. All other sites continue to work perfectly. Unfortunately, I can only browse static files on the newly imported site. If I try to access any of the Features in IIS7 for the new sit
I am using a project that rewrites URL. I am not familiar with this code, but it works fine on IIS 6 and with VS2010. Problem begins when I need to deploy into IIS7.5 server. Seems like the rewrite doesn't work and the page doesn't fount after rewriting page.

I am trying to use this web.config code, but then I could see this:
the output I am getting at the moment, is my parent data displays along with my child data. However when I click on the button to toggle the views i am getting a "cannot cast type error"I have also tried to put the itemdatabound event in my parent repeater tag, that worked but when I click on the buttons it just keeps moving to the top of the page and won't hide or show any of the child data except for the first child of the first parent.
<%@Page Language="VB" EnableEventValidation="false"%> <%@Import Namespace="System.Data" %> <%@Import Namespace="System.Data.OleDb" %> <script runat="server"> Dim ds As DataSet, divdtls, btnview, repeat Sub ItemDataBound [code]...
i have a parent gridview,It has child gridview in every row.The edit and delete event of this child is working is fine. When i add data to through child gridview with empty data template.i can 't find the value of the parent contril id.
gvProductFeatures is the chid gridview... protected void gvProductFeatures_RowCommand(object sender, GridViewCommandEventArgs e) { try { if (e.CommandName.Equals("EmptyAddNewFeature")) { GridView gv = (GridView)sender; if (gv != null) { // here i need find the appropriate control id from parent..how?? int intIndex = Convert.ToInt32(e.CommandArgument); Label lblEmptyGroupPK = (Label)gv.Controls[0].Controls[0].FindControl("lblEmptyGroupPK"); TextBox txtEmptyFeatures = (TextBox)gv.Controls[0].Controls[0].FindControl("txtEmptyFeatures"); } } } catch(Expection ex) { } }
I have Windows Authentication enabled, and I can verify that without the line that my REMOTE_USER is MYDOMAINmyusername.
However, when I try to deny all users, I am prompted with the typical Windows domain username/password box. If I enter the username password, the prompt comes back up again 3 times until finally presenting me with a failure message. (I have also tried to no avail)
Looking in the event viewer, it appears as if my login using the username and pw is successful in the audit ... and to further that point, my account is not being locked out (which it would if I were failing to login over and over). So it's as if I am logging in, but the configuration is not seeing what I entered as matching my login.
Below is the message I see (even when connecting from the server using localhost):
**Access is denied.
Description: An error occurred while accessing the resources required to serve this request. The server may not be configured for access to the requested URL.
Error message 401.2.: Unauthorized: Logon failed due to server configuration. I have a web.config file which is quite large in my current solution running on IIS7.
It's working perfect on my dev server however I encounter the error 0x80070032 "Config Error Cannot read configuration file because it exceeds the maximum file size"
My current solution uses a very large web.config file. The architecture of my CMS application requires a large number of configuration settings.
Is there some way to extend this size limit or can I split the web.config file down into smaller files?
I have a Parent gridview with a nested gridview. Edit on the parent works fine. On the nested child gridview, when I click the edit button, the line goes into edit mode, but the parent row collapses. To correct I added javascript to call the javascript function that is used to expand and collapse the rows. It is located in the RowDataBound event of the parent gridview.
Based on the code samples I have, the way the process should work when the edit button is clicked is the RowCommand and then the RowEditing events for the child gridview are supposed to fire, followed by the RowDataBound for the parent. The child events are firing after the parent though. This wouldn't be a problem except that I am retrieving the parent line that holds the child record being edited so that value can be fed to the javascript function to expand the row. How can I fix this or work around it?
We had some content restructure recently and I'd like to put in some redirect rules into web.config so bookmarks to the old pages can get routed to their new locations/pages.I tried using this approach:
But all I'm getting when I go to "[URL] is our http 404 page.Am I doing something wrong, or is the httpRedirect tag in web.config not supported in mono?
I'm simply adding to a set of rules on existing rewrite rules for our company website. We have a file that we need to restrict to only our internal IP addresses. The URL is http://oursite.com/internal/index.aspx?u=blahblah and need it restricted to IP ranges 10.1.X.X. I'm adding this and it's not doing anything. Even if I tried to capture all using .* for the pattern, it still ignores it. Is my syntax correct?
I have a parent gridview control and a another gridvew control inside parent gridview.I want to access a column named type in parent gridview inside child gridview. And use the value of that column in a javascript function
In IIS7 I don't find any possibility to keep a website from responding to it's IP address as soon there is SSL set up for this website. I did not add the IP address as hostname for this website and so would expect that the site does only respond to it's given hostname(s). Unfortunately the website won't work if requested via it's IP address, so I have to disable IP address as hostname somehow.
Another issue is that IIS 7 does not display the "secure connection obligatory" error page anymore if secure connection is mandatory for a website. Is there any way to get this error page being displayed, just like it was in IIS6 ?
