how to insert html content Permanently from c#
I will be getting data through wcf service coming form commerce server (instead of DB). Data which is coming will be in the form big html content with all html tags or may be a single line sentence. I should display this dynamic data into the placeholder in the content page (master content page). I have been trying but not able to load when the data is in the form of HTML page. html content or may be single lline of senetence.
View 3 RepliesI'm very new to ASP.net. I have a c# content page, in which I want to inset this code half way down within the HTML:
<%
HttpResponse r = Response;
r.Write(HttpContext.Current.Request.ServerVariables["SERVER_NAME"]);
%>
But when I view the page, this content comes out first, before even the tag.
how to get this code inline instead?
I'm getting this message when going to a web app that accesses my service.
"The content type text/html of the response message does not match the content type of the binding (text/xml; charset=utf-8)..."
The thing is, it happens once in a while even when no changes have been made to the service or the web app. And I can make it go away most of the time by going directly to the .svc?wsdl page in my browser and then coming back to the web app.
I have a page with the CuteWebUI upload control in it. The page occasionally locks up permanently, and by locks up I mean the whole browser locks up. Does anyone have any problems like this, or can anyone think of a general reason why this would be happening?
View 4 RepliesOn a fairly complex page, we're getting some unusual behavior with dropdownlists in IE6. To layout the basic structure, there are 2 update panels on the page each with a gridview presenting a master-details layout. In addition to the grid, each panel houses some dropdownlists for filtering the data in the respective gridview.
Now what's happening is that a button on the bottom grid will cause a modal popup form to display, where some details about the row item can be modified. As per the ASP.NET AJAX javascript, the dropdowns disable during the postback, and re-enable after it closes. The bottom grid also has a timer attached to it that periodically updates it to keep the view of the data fresh. When this timer ticks after the modal popup is closed, the drop down lists mysteriously vanish, except for the ones in that update panel which apparently get rendered again.
Oddly enough, if the timer ticks while the popup is up, the drop downs enable early and show through the modal (oh IE6...) but don't vanish later on.
Suppose there are three button and every butthon has a click event function.
Clicking the first button displays something on this page with a gridview taking data from databases.
After clicking the first button i stored the value in a variable.
But when i click the second or third button i get null value for that variable.
Clicking the second or third button the page reloads and the value of that variable becomes null.
How can i store the value to that variable permanently?

View 1 RepliesSo I have a couple of Masterpages as base templates and a couple of themes that can be applied to either one of these masterpages. Using profiles, global.asax and some code behind I can change the Themes dynamically but they are associated with the profile. In other words, once the user logs off, the theme is changed back to default.
My objective is to use an Admin page to
1. change the theme of the site permanently for all users, including anonymous visitors.
2. change the masterpage for all pages permanently for all users, including anonymous visitors.
So when I log off after changing the settings, the new settings are retained.
I have a control that I want to be able to mark areas as editable. When a user enters a username and password, they can then edit these editable areas.One of the area to edit is the main content of the page. Since I want them to be able to edit this on every page, I have put the editable control into the master page, wrapped around the ContentPlaceHolder of the master page.I found out how to allow the parser to allow <prefix:tag></prefix:tag> rather than just ending it with />, but I can't figure out how to get the text within the tags to be accessible through something like a Text property. A prime example of this behavior is the Label control, where you can put <asp:Label>Hello!</asp:Label> and access Hello! through the .Text property in the code.

I was reading the ASP.NET MVC Best Practices article by Rashid, and got stuck in his description of creating UrlHelper extensions. Doing this is easy enough, and I've adopted the practice into all of my projects. I noticed, however, that Rashid used Url.Content to generate the url for the home page, and Url.RouteUrl for all the other urls. Why is this? What is the difference between the two?
The link to the blog post is here:

I've used Html.ActionLink in my Views, but I'm wondering what difference it would be if I used Url.RouteUrl instead. Does anyone have a good grasp of what makes these helpers different, and where they are best used?
I have an HTML string like
<A HREF="/files/1234/mybook.b1">mybook.b1</A><br>11/24/2010 1:02 AM 991
I want to fetch only the date element from this string. i.e 11/24/2010 1:02 AM
I know i can do that using the substring method of string class but i need to implement a standard solution for this problem. i.e. fetch date from any html content if it contains a date element.
how to accomplish saving div+contents/layout to a database and then retrieveing that data to post back.

Maybe using a streamreader to save it then have the streamreader write the content back in?

View 5 RepliesI have a silverlight application that I am embedding in an existing ASP.NET web application. The web application has several drop-down navigation menus that would normally cover part of the silverlight app. I am aware of embedding the app using "windowless" mode, and if I do so the HTML menus show up on top of the silverlight plugin and everything looks great.
The problem is that I do not want to run in windowless mode due to its limitations. The application needs to handle MouseWheel events, which are not available natively in windowless mode. I am also not happy with the performance drawbacks of running in windowless mode. If I set windowless mode to false, the silverlight plugin is always rendered on top of the navigation menus which drop down behind it.
Is there any kind of CSS/JavaScript/Z-Index hackery that can be done to force certain divs of HTML on my page to render on top of the silverlight app WITHOUT running in windowless mode? I don't have high hopes as I understand this scenario is one of the main reasons for running in windowless mode.
I write code as :
Regex r = new Regex(this.textbox1.Text);
Match m = r.Match(this.SearchStringTextBox.Text);
while (m.Success)
{
Response.Write(m.Value);
Response.Write("<br>");
m = m.NextMatch();
}
this.textbox1.Text="<img[^>]* src="([^"]*)"[^>]*>"
this.SearchStringTextBox.Text = " I get html content ..........."
