C# - How To Show/hide Buttons Contain In A Template By JavaScript

Jan 5, 2011

I have two asp.net buttons inside a template (Expand and Collapse) I want to implement a simple client side javascript function to hide the expand button after press it and show the collapse button and vice versa.

<asp:Button ID="btnExpand" runat="server" CommandName="Expand"
CommandArgument='<%# Container.DataElement("Id")%>' Text="+" />
<asp:Button ID="btnCollapse" runat="server" CommandName="Collapse"
CommandArgument='<%# Container.DataElement("Id")%>' Text="-" />

I tried OnClientClick event but I didn't know how to get the sender button and the second button from javascipt because they're in a template and their IDs will be generated.

I tried also to change their visibility from the code behind in the server (by Visible property) but the problems is the event handler will be fired after the postback and the changes will not be applied in the client.

Javascript - Way To Disable All Submit Buttons After Postback

I'm trying to write code that will disable submit button (or all submit buttons) on the page to avoid double postback.I thought of generating my own postback javascript function (and inject postback javascript using GetPostbackEventReference) but maybe there are some better ways to do this? Or maybe there is some other way to avoid double postbacks?

Javascript - Hide Buttons When Printing Fullcalendar

Dec 18, 2010

I am using Fullcalendar on my site and I have a button to print it. I am doing this with:

function print_calendar() {
$('#calendar').css('width', '6.5in');
$('.fc-content .fc-state-highlight').css('background', '#ccc');
$('#calendar').fullCalendar('render');
bdhtml = window.document.body.innerHTML;
sprnstr = "<!--startprint-->";
eprnstr = "<!--endprint-->";
prnhtml = bdhtml.substr(bdhtml.indexOf(sprnstr) + 17);
prnhtml = prnhtml.substring(0, prnhtml.indexOf(eprnstr));
window.document.body.innerHTML = prnhtml;
window.print();

Now I also want to be able to hide the Previous Month, Next Month, Today, and Month Buttons. How can I do this via javascript? I do not want to change them in the fullcalendar code, just be able to hide them before printing but have them display the rest of the time.

Keep GridView Sorting With JavaScript Disabled - UPDATED - Header Buttons Not Working?

Apr 30, 2010

I posted the question below, and then discovered that the code I posted does work, if the button is not in the GridView header. In fact, I can't seem to make the button in the header do anything.As long as I can trigger the sort, I can make this work somehow, but ideally, I'd like the mechanism to be in the headers.Any ideas on why that button isn't working? Original message:I've got a GridView bound to a SQLDataSource, and have sorting enabled. This works great, but some of my users will have JavaScript disabled, and the page has to have the same functionality for them.

I've looked into sorting a GridView without JavaScript, but all the solutions I've found assume that I'm NOT binding to SQLDataSource - because of course, If I were, I'd just enable sorting. So I wind up back where I started.Is there a way for me to enable sorting for both regular and non-JavaScript users? I know one option is to install buttons instead of the header links, which would be fine, but I have no idea what my code should look like. I took a wild guess and tried:

[Code]....

...where "ColumnA" is the sort expression. I know I'd have to check the current sort direction for the Gridview and reset it - I just wanted to see if this would work at all, and it didn't seem to do anything. I also have both CausesValidation and UseSubmitBehavior set to False, since I just want to sort.

Accessing Calendar On .net UserControl By Javascript?

Jan 6, 2011

I'm working on an ASP.NET app.I'm using a UserControl for a year calendar.This UserControl has 12 asp.net calendar controls (for the 12 months of a year)

I'm trying to build a jscript function that can access to one (or more) of the 12 month calendar, but I can't access them.

example:

"<asp:Calendar ID="CalendarJanuary" runat="server"></asp:Calendar>"

here's my function

function SetCalendar(controlId) {

document.getElementById(controlId+'_CalendarJanuary').VisibleDate = somedate
}

but this is allways throwing an error:'Microsoft JScript runtime error: 'document.getElementById(...)' is null or not an object'

it seems is not finding the calendar and I'm sure i'm passing the right controlID

Accessing A Control In Asp.net Content Page Through JavaScript

Jun 7, 2010

I have a form in my content page for which I am doing some client side validations via Javascript. The Javascript behaves as expected if I place the JS code directly in the content page. But if I place the JS code in it's own file and try accessing that from the content/master page (through the script tag's src attribute), I get a run time error when the validation function in JS being called.

To be specific, I get the below error:

Microsoft JScript runtime error: Objected expected/required at this line document.getElementById('<%=txtemailId.ClientID %>').value

txtemailId is in the content page.

Javascript code is placed in validation.js and accessed via master page.

The reason I guess is that when .net is parsing the files, it is unable to substitute txtemailId.ClientID with the client side value that would be generated later on. So, how should one go about it?

AJAX :: Accessing CollapsiblePanelExtender Properties In Javascript?

Feb 22, 2010

I have implemented a CollapsiblePanelExtender with a button that collapses/expands a panel. I also have a javascript function that can collapse the expanded panel when a certain condition exists somewhere else on the page.

The problem I am having is when I programatically collapse the panel, the extender is not aware, so the Collapsed property remains false and the CollapsedImage and CollapsedText are not updated. The next time I click the button, the extender is updated to a collapsed state, but nothing happens on the page because the panel was already collapsed. It is just resynchronizing the Collapsed, CollapsedImage, and CollapsedText properties to match the panel's already collapsed state.

Is there a way I can update the Collapsed, CollapsedImage, and CollapsedText properties in javascript to match the actual state of the panel?

C# - Setting Hidden Input Value In JavaScript, Then Accessing It In Codebehind

Apr 21, 2010

I have been trying to set the value of a hidden input by using Javascript and then access the value from within my C# codebehind. When I run the code that is copied below, the value that is assigned to assignedIDs is "", which I assume is the default value for a hidden input. If I manually set the value in the html tag, then assignedIDs is set to that value.

This behavior suggests to me that the value of the input is being reset (re-rendered?) between the onClientClick and onClick events firing.

Javascript - Accessing Child Control Of A Gridview From Java?

Feb 24, 2011

The below code works, I'm just curious if there is a dynamic way to pass the generated GridLeft__ctl1_GridViewLeftSearch ID into the javascript function.

<HeaderTemplate>
<asp:TextBox ID="GridViewLeftTextBox" Width="80%" runat="server"
onKeyPress="javascript:SearchLeft(event);"></asp:TextBox>
<asp:Button ID="GridViewLeftSearch" runat="server" Width="100%"
OnClick="onSearchLeftGrid" Text="Search Patients" Font-Size="Small">

Is their a way to access The GridViewLeftSearch Button inside this Javascript function without hard coding it?

function SearchLeft(e) {
var t = document.getElementById("GridLeft__ctl1_GridViewLeftSearch");
if (t != null) {
t.click();
}
}
