We have an already existing project on IIS and we want to move to Apache (windows) with mod_aspdotnet. What things could not work? If we use 3rd party DLLs? Will office components work fine (export to Excel, Word, etc). If you have any experience on this type of migration, I'd like your inputs! Also, is there another alternative to mod_aspdotnet?

I originally had it using "Windows Hosting" but ran into problems so moved it to "Linux Hosting" since I was told it was more compatible and there would be fewer issues. I had a 3rd party customize the blog and add some code, etc. I would like now to use WebMatrix to continue customizing the blog on my own, and be able to step through code and add php etc. So my questions are these. Will Webmatrix work in this scenario --- Linux Hosting and processing PHP? Or do I have to move my blog onto Windows Hosting so that it uses IIS? And second...what would I have to do...FTP down my wordpress files as well as my database in order to use Webmatrix?

I'm looking for functionality similar to Google Gears, but without installing Google Gears. I'm looking to give user's a link on web application that says "Click here to install desktop shortcut", when they click on it, a desktop shortcut is installed with the custom icon for our application. Is there a way to do it using javascript or any other client side technologies? I don't want to run any exe on user's machines. Even though it's intranet, I have to jump through lot of corporate hoops, compliance approvals, etc to run exe on their machine. We are trying to avoid that, due to time constraints. User machines are windows XP with IE6 installed. They may all upgrade within next year's time to Windows 7 with IE8. Intranet web application in question is developed using asp.net 3.5, c#.
View 3 RepliesI'm working on a project where we're using Windows Desktop Search (WDS) to index files on a web share and then later allow the user to search via a website for documents in the share.
These documents are transferred to the share via FTP, however it would seem that either the computer never goes idle to index or at some point the indexing stops. Is there a way from the command line or within the program itself to force this to happen without having to re-invent the wheel? Using .NET 3.5 and C#.

What would be a good way to restrict an ASP.NET web application to only serve a given ammount of concurrent users? Some requirements are:
Application requires login (no need to worry about anonymous users). Multiple servers support (farm / load balancing). An active user can be considered to be the same as an active session (not signed off or expired). Additional logins must be denied if the maximum number of concurrent users has been reached. Accountability is needed (administrators should be able to see who the active users are). Minimum overhead on each web request (especially avoiding costly trips to a database on each request). Total number of concurrent users should be kept correct even if a web server hangs, disconnects from network or has to be restarted. Additional servers are available to host services (e.g. application servers).
I have a large div with has an asp image to the left and then I have several objects I want to float to the right of it. In floating everything left after the photo the first line of objects works but the second continues to float from the last object. I have attached a image to explain more.

The FullTextSqlQuery class is used to search the document libary items. But it only searches files that has been uploaded by a windows user account like 'Administrator' and ignores the ones uploaded by 'SYSTEM ACCOUNT'. As a result the search results are empty even though we have the necessary data in the document library. What could be the reason for this?

Total length cannot exceed 5 digits i.e. 999.99
Digits before decimal is 3 and after decimal is 2 i.e. 999.99
I wrote this: ValidationExpression="(^d{0,3}[.]?d{0,2}$)" but this is accepting 9999 and 99999 which is wrong because in both case before decimal is more than 3 digits.
