I've been using an asp 3.0 widget for this purpose , but it been broken for a while and rather than get it back up, I'd love o get a native asp.net solution, can any one point me in the right direction pleaseI once wrote some asp.net code to do this, but the permissions on the server, which I found to be common every where prevented asp.net native picture upload, perhaps i got it wrong, well now I wanna fix itI need the code to work in a shared hosting IIS 7 environment. I use vb.net, but can usually convert c# to vb.net
I have an asp.net app that allows users to create personal pages which can be publicly accessed thru a "directory" page. The content of the pages is stored in sql server, so a given user's page is dynamically created thru the code that executes when the relevant link on the directory page is clicked.
I would like to take this a step further by allowing access to a given user's page directly thru the browser's address bar, something like www.thegreatestsite.com/jim (pretty much like You Tube, Facebook, etc.).
I could achieve this by manually creating a folder under the root, called "jim" and putting a default.aspx page in it which would have code in it's load event that would dynamically create jim's page.
However, I would like this "additional feature" to be created automatically, as part of the sign up process of the user.
i have a group page. i am creating a website for the group and they want to be able to see the recent facebook updates (what you see on the group's facebook wall) on their website. is this possible without having to have a facebook popup login and just programatically pass in my login information?
I am trying to upload an image using ASP.NET with C#.I do not how to send image in parameter source="F://sample.jpg".I have also tried to send an image in a byte format.
I created an application as part of an ASP.NET site. I would like to receive error notifications in my inbox whenever something goes wrong with that flash application.
As I do not have control over our mail server (which has a different domain name), I cannot establish a cross domain policy allowing me to send error emails to my inbox.
Instead, thought I'd send a request to an ASP.NET handler that sends an email on behalf of the flash app.
Now the problem: the error report should include a screenshot of the flash application at the time the error occurred. The FileReference class however only allows file uploads with user interaction (browse dialog) and cannot be used programmatically to send the screenshot to my ASP.NET handler. The plain old POST back only allows files up to ~200K.
Am I missing something or is there no alternative to :
using POST w/ a compressed or resized screenshot or forcing the user to first save a screenshot and then select it for upload?
how can i make notification counter like facebook notifications in the top left of the page , the question is how to make this counter and update a value using javascript or asp.net i want to make something like that , that is updated every 5 min. with the new counter.
When it comes to integrating your site with facebook, is it recommended to save all the user's info from Facebook to your DB, or is it recommended to query in real time all the info you need based on the user's id?
For example the avatar sizes are different on my site than on my facebook, so I may have no choice but to download the fb avatar, but for other things like name, gender, hometown, I was wondering if I need to save that data. Also, if I decide to change extended permissions at a later time, is that going to be an easy task?
I have a DataList containing a list of elements(ASP.Net app). To delete an item i first used tha classic javascript confirmation. As i found it ugly,i want to use a confirmation box plugin. when i click OK==>Delete the item from DB(using a webservice) But how can i update the DataList. The situation is liek: when u add a comment in Facebook. delete link==>Conf box==>Delete==>Comments List update.
I noticed that whenever my clients connect their accounts to my application, the Sys.UI returns null and the MaskEditTextBox is not longer showing the mask ... in other words is not working.
In Asp.net how many ways we have to add javascript programmatically or register when we use ajax or normal page postback in 3.5 and 4.0 versions of asp.net
In my global.asax file for my ASP.net project, I am checking for certain conditions. When those conditions are met, I want to automatically execute javascript code when the page runs.
This is my code:
if condition Then Response.Write(" < script type=""text/javascript"" > ") Response.Write(" // Javascript code to do stuff ") Response.Write(" < /script > ") End If
While this appears to work to execute the Javascript code, I don't think it's a best practice because this code will preceed all of the HTML of the page that gets loaded.
What is the best way of programmatically tacking on some extra Javascript code to be run when my page loads?
I have an implementation for my website to have facebook single sign on, using their javascript sdk.The javascript adds the cookie and I deal with it fine. The question is related to when an user logs out of facebook, I would expect the auth.sessionChange or auth.logout events to fire, but that only occurs when the page is refreshed. As my implementation is done server-side, this means that after the user logs out of facebook they can access one secure page one more time before being properly logged out.Is this the normal case or do these events usually fire up straight away and I'm maybe doing something incorrect in configuration of the facebook app?
I'm using Lightbox but i only want the references to the stylesheet and javascript files to be in the masterpage header on one page on the site (the page that uses lightbox). how do I programmatically add references to the stylesheet and javascript files in the page load?
