Javascript - Initial Request Will Not Set Back To Re-enabled?
Oct 12, 2010
Within an ASP.NET AJAX UpdatePanel on my page I have a submit button which has some custom javascript validation applied which set a global _cancelGeneralSettingsUpdate flag depending on the results of the validation.In this case the variable _cancelGeneralSettingsUpdate is correctly set to false but the initializeRequest function is not called before the page attempts to postback via AJAX, causing the postback to fail. I need to be able to have postbacks succeed once the invalid input has been corrected and the user clicks the submit button again. Unfortunately I do not seem to be properly wired into the PageRequestManager pipeline once postback has been cancelled. If I refresh the page, everything works again, but cancelling the postback via args.set_cancel(true)
So far, I've seen (and I'm using the following) scripts to show/hide a div or other controls depending on another control in ASP.NET
$('[id$=myRadio_0]').click(function() { $('[id$=myDiv]').show(); }); $('[id$=myRadio_1]').click(function() { $('[id$=myDiv]').hide(); }); and of course, my div in html like <div id="myDiv" runat="server" visible="false">
and that works fine when the user selects either option of the radiobuttonlist. However, when I assign that radiobuttonlist a value of 1 or yes on my Page_Load on code behind, that isn't (and probably can't be) caught by jQuery, and my div remains invisible even though the control has a value of Yes/1. So, do I need to set the visibility of that div from code behind, or is there a way in jQuery to force a scan of these dependencies after i've set the values for the main controls in code behind?
So I have an unmanaged C++ dll which I am calling from my ASP.NET application, it has a single entry point and a couple of structures for passing data. If I create a C# console app to call the dll it works fine. If I hook it in to my asp.net app running on my local WinXP machine (IIS 5.1) then it works fine.
When I publish it to our development environement which is running Windows 2003 and IIS 6 then the first 1 or 2 calls works fine but then it simply stops responding. I'm getting no error messages, warnings etc... but I am fast running out of hair!
I've set the virtual directory which runs the asp.net app up inside of its own application pool but this seems to have had no impact.
I've got a bit of a problem UpdatePanelAnimationExtenders. Here's an example of the code structure I have:
[Code]....
Now here's my problem. When dd1 triggers the postback both dd1 and dd2 get disabled (instead of just dd1) and after the request is complete only dd1 gets enabled back. The behaviour is also true the other way around (if dd2 triggers the postback both dropdowns get disabled but only dd2 gets enabled back). I'm not really sure what to make of this.
I've recently enabled Digest Authentication on an intranet website/application I am creating for my company in ASP.NET.
The reason I have done so is because Windows Authentication seemed to only work for some users, and not for others. I could not figure out why nor do I know enough about IIS to try and trace the issue. After some trial and error, I found that digest authentication seemed to give me the behaviour that I wanted. That is: allow only users with a valid account on the domain to log in to the website with their credentials.
The problem now, is that Firefox (3+) seems to ask for the user to authenticate on every HTTP request sent to the server. This does not appear to occur in Internet Explorer (6+) or Chrome.
I've tried searching for solutions but I always arrive at dead-ends. I'll find a discussion about the issue, and every posted solution leads to a dead link...or it's on Experts Exchange and I don't have access to view to solution.
The issue appears to be related (from what I've read) to the way the different browsers send their authentication headers vs how IIS interprets them. I'm not sure what I can do to change this though? One of the solutions I had found mentioned writing an ISAPI filter to fix this, but of course the link to the finished filter was broken and I have no idea how to go about making one myself.
I've tried messing with the NTLM and other auth related strings in about:config to try and force Firefox to trust my server but that doesn't seem to work either.
From a few other sources I've read, it appears that everything should work if I switch back to Windows Authentication, but then I'm back at square one where the authentication would work only for some users and not others.
A solution for either problem would work for me, but I have very little information for the Windows Authentication issue. If someone could guide me through tracing the problem I'd gladly post more information for it as well.
On my Page_Load command for a page, I have a couple of tests that are performed before the screen is displayed with an alert box displaying if the user cannot access the screen. If Not Page.IsPostBack Then
I have four textbox and a button in my page. After filling the textbox. When the user click save button. A loading image should be displayed. User should not feel that the page is postback to the server,Some thing like in facebook loading image.
I have a site created using .net and the ajaxcontroltoolkit. When some users log on they do not see the controls on the page. I can duplicate this if I disable active scripting in ie. The problem is that the users I have spoken with have active scripting enabled. I have had them navigate to a site that tests javascript and it passes. Has anyone experienced this problem? If so what was your solution?
So to ensure that javascript is enabled on a browser, you need to check wheather the returned valued is either equal to or bigger than 1. This works on normal browsers, but when I test it on my phone the returned value is always 0.0, no matter if my javascript is enabled or disabled. Is there a way to check if javascript is enabled on a mobile browser or will the browser handle the incapability on it's own?
I've searched high and low for some resolution to this problem. Hopefully someone here can explain!!I create a usercontrol that uses .NET web controls, but I want to create a smoother user experience by avoiding full postbacks, so I write some JQUERY to capture click events on the client and in this way do the processing without going back to the server.
$("#tblLedgerEntries :checkbox").click(function () { var value1 = $(this).closest("tr").find("td.invoiceAmount").html(); var value2 = $('#<%=hdnTotalToPay.ClientID%>').html(); CalculateTotalPayable(value1, value2, $(this).attr("checked")); [code]...
I use AJAX controls a lot - AJAX update panels, AJAX-enabled grids, etc. (mostly from Infragistics), and most of the time, things work great. But sometimes they don't, and I have no idea where to start with debugging etc. The AJAX part of it is a black box (seemingly), and I really don't like that. I want to know enough about AJAX and javascript such that I have confidence to work with these controls instead of just praying that they work. I want to be able to debug them, and also have confidence that I am using them properly (because I don't feel I can possibly use them really properly and appropriately if I don't know what they are doing). What do I need to know to get this comfort? Where can I learn about this? How should I go about tackling learning about this?
I know normally you call ConfirmButton from a control that does postbacks, but afew of my users don't have javascript enabled which is a showstopper.
So I'm trying to use a standard asp:hyperlink with a URL to the next page, and if the user has javascript it will call the ConfirmButton on the onclick event (and if returns true will follow the URL in the hyperlink).
If they dont have javascript, it will just follow the hyperlink without a confirmation.
This is similar to have a return confirm ("sure?") in the onclick event of a hyperlink, to fire a traditional js confirm
So far I have only got this:
<asp:ScriptManager ID="man" runat="server" />
[Code]....
how I can manually call the ConfirmButton with an onclick even in the hyperlink, and return true or false?
I want to create a custom attribute to check if the browser has cookies and javascript enabled. I'm guessing I would create a ActionFilterAttribute that would redirect to a controller action to load a page to check cookies and javascript on the client side. If they are enabled then it would redirect to the desired action, otherwise display an error message. Is this a correct approach or is there a better way to do this?
In my page, I need to enable a text box when user click on check box(checked). I have used javascript for this. It works fine but when there is postback for the page, the textbox becomes disabled again although the check box is checked. But the value in textbox still appears. Is there any method to retain the enabled state for text box on postback other than using hidden values?
Scenario : I am going to access external web service [ExternalWS] using AJAX. So obviously, need to create local proxy service [LocalProxyWS] first, which in turn will access the external web service. Now, the external service webmethod [Process] basically redirects the current page on our site to their site, does some work and then return back to our site.
What I want : I want that when the user clicks the button ('Process') on our site, it should open a new window and then starts executing the request on the new window, so that I can have the page on my website to be displayed permanently (which will poll a request every 15 seconds to the external service (via local proxy) for the status).
Local Proxy service which calls external service is as follows..
[ServiceContract(Namespace = "LocalProxy")] [AspNetCompatibilityRequirements(RequirementsMode = AspNetCompatibilityRequirementsMode.Allowed)] public class LocalProxyToExternalService { [OperationContract] public void InitiateTransaction(string amount)
Basically, I am opening a new window from the button click and then want to process the new request in that new window, so that I can show the status to the user from the current page on my website So far, it opens the new window, but doesn't transfer the request on to that, but I get an error message in firebug as follows...
for SEO purposes, instead of refreshing the page every click of a product, is it possible to click on the product and when the server comes back with the response, to change the URL of the page to reflect the new link to information currently on page?
point is to have ajax redraw the product details portion of the page but have SEO friendly url's displayed so if people want to bookmark the currently selected product, it will bookmark the right url instead of the generic one to access the products page..
For example... here's my entry point:
Products.aspx
product1product2product3 If I were to click product1, the request goes to the server with roducts.aspx?id=product1 but the url is still products.aspx on the response meaning that when people bookmark the product1 item, and they send the link to a friend, the friend always gets the generic product.aspx page.
I'm trying to get around this without refreshing the full page (postback).
I am confused about the new request of asp.net page and the Post back! what is the difference between them? when we click on any control like button the post-back is called for the same page! why it is no re-requested or so on.?
My web site is integrated into a client web site. Client web site reaches out to my site through an Xml request and I return Html embedded in an Xml response. Client site then displays the Html in an area on a page on their site. All is well so far...
Now, there is a link on the Html that does an HttpPost back to my site which causes a re-direct to another page on my site. i.e. [URL] -> HttpPost -> [URL]-> Response.Redirect("CookieTest.aspx"). Still, all is well. [URL]
All of the above can occur without authentication to mysite. Where I start running into problems is when CookieTest wants to do a FormsAuthentication.SetAuthCookie(). If I put a button on CookieTest that does FormsAuthentication.SetAuthCookie() and then Response.Redirect("SecurePage.aspx"), still under [URL], the SecurePage does not recognize the authentication because the auth cookie is not present.
1. Navigate straight to CookieTest.aspx
So I simplfied the problem into basic cookie set/read excercise and used the code below to test out cookie writing/reading ability. When I call the page directly from the browser I see that on initial load the response cookies are empty. Then on button click I see that the cookie is properly set in the response. Then on subsequent page refresh I see that the page load shows the request cookie.
2. Navigate to CookieTest.aspx in an HttpPost from [URL], as mentioned above.
Now on button click I see the cookie in the Response but do not see it come back in the Request of subsequent page refreshes, as if the client browser is rejecting cookies set by my server.
3. Navigate straight to CookieTest.aspx, then do the HttpPost from [URL]
In this case, since the cookie was set during a straight navigation to CookieTest.aspx, the cookie is present in the subsequent HttpPost/Redirect from [URL]. CookieTest.aspx has full access to the cookie and can even delete it.
4. Have CookieTest.aspx pop a new browser window simply sets the cookie and closes itself down.
Similar to #3, if the cookie is set through a popup window and then CookieTest is refreshed the cookie is present in the Request.
Notes:
The code does prove that the client browser accepts cookies.
When my page (CookieTest.aspx) is shown within the frame on the [URl] page, during any link back to my server, the Request.Url.Host shows my domain.
I am using Asp.net and requirement specifies i use html input to post files to server rather than asp:fileupload.[ Reason : Add more html input file controls similar to CPanel file manager.(i.e) clicking on link adds another file input from which user can select another file*.But when ever i post back Request Files collection is always empty.* HTML FORM:
<form method="post" enctype="multipart/form-data" action="documents.aspx"> <div> <input type="file" name="attachment" id="attachment" onchange="validate(this)" /> <span class="none">Filename should be within (1-25) letters long. Can Contain only letters & numbers</span> <div id="moreUploads"> </div> <div id="moreUploadsLink" style="display: none;"> <a href="javascript:addFileInput();">Attach another File</a></div> <input type="submit" id="btnSubmit" /> </div> </form>
Javascript:
var upload_number = 2;function addFileInput() { try { var fileUpload = document.getElementById("attachment"); var elemSpan = nextElement(fileUpload).cloneNode(true); var elemDiv = document.getElementById("moreUploads"); var d = document.createElement("div"); var file = document.createElement("input"); file.setAttribute("type", "file"); file.setAttribute("id", "attachment" + upload_number); file.setAttribute("onchange", "validate(this)"); d.appendChild(file); d.appendChild(elemSpan); elemDiv.appendChild(d); upload_number++; } catch (err) { alert(err);}}
the validate(this) is a function that validates file types on client.When validation succeeds then the link to add more file inputs is enabled. Could someone throw somelight on this.
