I need little clarification regarding the Application Domain. Here i am just sending a mail on page load. How to call SendMail() once in a day at a given time (say 6.00 AM) using quartz.net. I dont know how to get started? Should i configure it in my global.asax file.
I have a page and on button click event, we executing the stored procedure (calculation process) .
It has to process for the large data, so it will get more time to execute.
at the end of the SP i am executing the another SP which is also process for large data.
so 2 SP's running on the button click. when i click the button it taking too much time for executing and return timeout error.
if the record is less in the table then getting result properly. now i want to split the event to execute the 2 SP's saparetely.
but the user will click the button at one time only. at that time i want to execute the SP1 and respond to the user back, Show some processing message to the user and automatically call the SP2 in the same event.

I was under the impression till now that Global.asax is used for application level events and it's a common file for all users. Then what does Session_Start event does in this file. View 5 RepliesI've been looking on the Internet for a fairly clear explanation of the different methods of registering javascript in an asp.net application. I think I have a basic understating of the difference between registerStartupScript and registerClientScriptBlock (the main difference being where in the form the script is inserted).I'm not sure I understand what the RegisterClientScriptInclude method does or when it is used. From what I can gather, it is used to register an external .js file. Does this then make any and all javascript functions in that file available to the aspx page it was registered on? For example, if it was registered in the onLoad event of a master page, would all pages using that master page be able to use the javascript functions in the .js file? What problems would arise when trying to use document.getElementById in this case, if any? Also, when it is necessary/advantageous to use multiple .js files and register them separately?

There will be a staging database, where we will make changes and allow users to 'preview in place'. Then any changes have to be approved, and to publish them we will connect to a live version of the same database (same schema) and play-forward the captured changes.I have found some code (called Doddle Audit) which, with some customization, is giving me great information about what is changing. I am able to get a list of all columns, before and after, for updates, inserts, and deletes. But what I would really like to have is the underlying SQL being run by SubmitChanges(). LinqToSql has to generate this, so why can't I have it? I have googled around and looked at code involving SubmitChanges, mousing over stuff, and I can't seem to find it. Does anyone know of a way to obtain this?

I have 2 Tables , OrderDetails and Requests In my LINQ to SQL dbml file. OrderDetailsID is a foreign key in Requests Table. I want to write the query to get the sum of UnitCost from OrderDetails based on OrderId. And If there is a row in Requests Table for each OrderDetailsID, and the Requests.Last.RequestType="Refund" I want to reduce the total refund amount from the main sum otherwise If there is no row based on OrderDetailsID, add to sum. Here is the way I implement that. I am looking to prevent using "For each".

once the user presses the Search button, i execute the following query to fetch matching records.

The problem is, in cases where User leaves both the textbox or one of the textbox empty/blank, in that case that particular field should be removed from where clause.
More like if something is entered then search for that particular record otherwise search for all the records.
I have written a page which uses Linq to query the database and bind the resulting IQueryable to a datagrid. I have a partial class which contains extra properties which derive their values based on other values brought in from the database.
Sorting works fine on fields that are actually in the database but not for the derived fields. When I attempt to sort on such a field I get an error saying "The member 'Trip.Difference' has no supported translation to SQL. how to allow sorting on these derived fields?
I have a database table called Animals which I drag on to my Linq to SQL DBML file.
This creates me a class called Animal.
I then create a class to extend it, like so:

This casting process did used to work in the non-LINQ-2-SQL project that I'm switching to MVC/LINQ.
I have several web sequential pages which will modify a record and its child records in the database, called a "project". Such a project is currently passed between pages using its database ID in the URL parameters.
A project has some information specific to itself, and also consists of one or more Tasks, which each have information specific to itself.
Is it faster (alternatively, more maintainable or more easily understood) to hit the database each time I need to query the same project (and its tasks), or should I query the database once (either once for each page or once for all pages and save to Session) and check the saved object rather than the database?
For the login control that I am using, there is a connectionstring which is automatically created in the web.config file.I ran an .exe file which populated the specified database with all the asp login related tables and stored procedures...
