View 1 RepliesI have two grids on a page that seem to always be position:fixed.I want them to scroll with the page when an overflow scrollbar appears on the body. The grids however ALWAYS stay in the same place and don't scroll with the rest of the page content.Is there any way to get an UltraWebGrid to be relative and scroll up the page with the rest of the page's content?This seems to work in IE6 but not in IE8.
View 1 Replieshow to export my aspx page (include buttons and Grids) to PDF? Searching the web I found this component, but it works only with normal html If my page has Grids or Buttons, these do not appear in PDF. My current code for export to PDF; This code exports only basic html (no buttons or grids)
string attachment = "attachment; filename=AllPage.pdf";
Response.ClearContent();
Response.AddHeader("content-disposition", attachment);
Response.ContentType = "application/pdf";
StringWriter stw = new StringWriter();
HtmlTextWriter htextw = new HtmlTextWriter(stw);
GridView1.AllowPaging = false;
GridView1.DataBind();
GridView1.RenderControl(htextw);
Document document = new Document();
PdfWriter.GetInstance(document, Response.OutputStream);
document.Open();
StringReader str = new StringReader(stw.ToString());
HTMLWorker htmlworker = new HTMLWorker(document);
htmlworker.Parse(str);
document.Close();
Response.Write(document);
Response.End();
I currently have a datagrid bound to a table with tens of thousands of records. I display the datagrid using the existing asp.net 2.0. I show ten records at a time.
My problem is whenever I try to access the next page, I gets all the records again from the database and then displays the ones that are required. This is slowing down the app. Is there feature within .net 2.0 which will help me optimize this issue? I cant use third party controls or ajax.
UPDATE
I cant use SQL to get 10 records at a time as well. Without changing any existing business logic or data retrieval, I want to do this.
I have 3 nested grids as Parent/Child/GrandChild and I have assigned SqlDataSources to all the grids at declaration time. I place the SqlDataSource next to each grid as follows.
<GridView>..</GridView><SqlDataSource>..</SqlDataSource>
Because of this I am not doing anything in RowDataBound(...) event. But I used the RowCreated(..)event of Parent and Child grids to access session (Please look at the select statements of Child/GrandChild grids).
Parent grid's RowCreated(..) event puts the value in the session which is used by Child grid. Child grid's RowCreated(..) event puts the value in the session which is used by Grand Child grid.
GrandChild grid has paging enabled and whenever I click on page index, Child and GrandChild grids goes blank. Parent gird doesn't go blank because its select statement doesn't take any "select parameters".
how to overcome this problem. I am attaching .aspx and .aspx.cs files

I want to dynamically create controls on a web page. Is this possible and how do I approach this. I want the 'user' to have control over how many records (sections of data on a web page) he/she would like to add. For example, after they enter data in a formview and save it to the database, they should be able to click on a button that says 'Add another instance data' .. this should create another formview dynamically with the same data points. Saving that will add another record for the same user id into the tables.
View 3 RepliesI have tried to use a GridView and DataGrid and the binding works but there isn't a grid that displays. Not even the header row.The web page
[Code]....
The code that loads the gridThis is called first to get the XML and load into a text box
[Code]....
This is called after to bind to gridview
[Code]....
So while in DEBUG mode I put a break point on the DataBind() and got the following:
?gvData.DataSource
Count = 340
I would like some help with an issue that I have been trying to solve for a while now. for example: I have test.aspx page in this page there is a link that will take the user to test2.aspx. test2.aspx will open up in a new window(used javascript to do the from the vb.code) so now I have two open screens test1.aspx and test2.aspx. I want to be able to reload grids in test1.aspx once I process some data in test2.aspx. is it possible to do that?
View 1 Replies<PagerStyle HorizontalAlign="Right" CssClass="paging"/>
<PagerTemplate>
<table width="100%">
<tr>
<td style="text-align:left; width:50%">
<asp:LinkButton ID="lnkPrv" Visible="false" CommandName="Page" CommandArgument="Prev" runat="server">Previous</asp:LinkButton>
</td>
<td style="text-align:right; width:50%;padding-left:50%;">
<asp:LinkButton ID="lnkNext" CommandName="Page" CommandArgument="Next" runat="server">Next</asp:LinkButton>
</td>
</tr>
</table>
</PagerTemplate>
Code behind is below
protected void gvProduct_PageIndexChanging(object sender, GridViewPageEventArgs e)
{
Literal1.Visible = gvProduct.PageIndex == 0;
LinkButton lnkPrv = (LinkButton)gvProduct.BottomPagerRow.FindControl("lnkPrv");
LinkButton lnkNext = (LinkButton)gvProduct.BottomPagerRow.FindControl("lnkNext");
lnkPrv.Visible = e.NewPageIndex > 0;
lnkNext.Visible = e.NewPageIndex < gvProduct.PageCount - 1;
gvProduct.PageIndex = e.NewPageIndex;
FillGrid();
}
The code does not give any error. I can see it set the visible property to true/false. But actual control on page remain same (always visible on every page).
How to display Master-Child relation in two separate grids.
e.g:
Products table: (Master table with productid as primary key)
Productid, ProdDesc
Item table: (Child table with productid as foreign key)
ItemId, ItemDesc, Productid
On selecting a row in Master, all rows related to that productsid should get displayed in the child grid. We need to link the two events.
How Can I fire the Grids Insert/Update command when the users tab out of the row?

i have Successfully binded the Schedular from Objects and its looking Good and the Following code has done that.i am using the Telerik Grid , but the implementation to the grid is the same as the Gridview. What i need is a guidance on how to bind hierachy grids from ojects or lists
[Code]....
Now with the same results i want to bind a Hierachy Grid as it Shows in my attached image. I am using EAE that means the is no Fixed Column name, so the Binding of the Grid Should be Dynamically.
In a page im having multiple data grids with some data tables.How can i export all these to excel sheet without any change in the alignment.

View 1 RepliesIs there a way to use the GridView paging and having the links not use JavaScript. So that when you click on the page number 5 (for example) that link is a hyperlink.
View 3 RepliesI'd like to implement a custom paging template for my formview that displays numeric paging as well as next/previous buttons. The pre-defined templates only appear to have numeric first last as an option. Can anyone recommend a good article that covers this?
View 2 RepliesI am curious as to what people would thing is the best way to implement this. On my overview page, I have a data grid which is sortable and has custom filtering written for it. When you click on an item in the grid, it loads a separate page with details. I would like to implement result paging through on the detail page keeping in the same order as the previous page data grid. Now I've thought of a few ways to do this:
Change the link to be a postback and handle the sort order programatically Sort filter and sort settings on application of the settings in the session Pass the filter and sort settings on the query string to the detail page. None of these seem very clean to me, and option 3 is the only cogent option I've thought of. Am I missing something? Is there a more elegant way to do this?
I have several partial views on the same view. They each have IEnumerables in a WebGrid with paging.
When I page one, they all page to the same page.
How do I fix this so each has a working pager?
I've found a method to do paging, wich works perfect except that when loading the page it goes to first page and not last page...I want it to be a choise in the code if it should load first or last page.
I know I have to use:
int currentPage = DataPage.PageCount - 1; //Add
DataPage.CurrentPageIndex = currentPage; //Add
But I dont know where to put in the code. If I try to put the two above lines in, it runs to the last page......But then I cann't go to the other pages when clicking pagenumbers. It stays on the last page. Someone who knows where to put the code in? (I want it that way instead of CreatePagingLinks(bool displayRows) it should be CreatePagingLinks(bool displayRows, bool lastPage) - so I make my choise when using the CreatePagingLinks. The code where I try to put currentpageindex in look like this:
[Code]....
I am passing the PageNumber and PageSize to a stored procedure, which returns only that page of data. It also returns a record count what the total number of records would be if I returned all of them at once.Generally, how do i hook this up to the DataGridView to enable paging?It seems like the expectation is for the resultset to contain the complete dataset. Many of the properties that I expect to be able to set, like RecordCount, appear to be read only.
View 2 RepliesI made a comments area with 4 labels, 4 textboxes and the Submit button. When the user clicks on "Submit" in order to INSERT DATA, it realoads the entire page and change the 'focus' to the beginning of the page. How can i change that so that onClick, it INSERTS successfully the data and come back to the row of the comments? Or maybe it just updates that comments area instead of the whole page? And also i have a Listview control to show all the comments and it has PAGING enabled. But when the user clicks on the paging buttons, it reloads the entire page and the user sees the beginning of the page, and he has to scroll down again to go back to the comments area.
View 9 RepliesI am performing "semi"-custom paging for my dynamic LINQ query. However, if the number of results returned exactly fill the page, then I wind up with one extra page that's empty and I can't figure out why. i.e. if I have a page size of 15 and 14, 21, 101, etc. items then everything is fine. However, if I have 15, 30, 45, 60, etc. then I get one extra blank page and I've been unable to make it stop. Anyone have some ideas except to add a new record when I see we're sitting on a multiple of the page size?
I write out the paging control like this and it loops through one time too many if the last page is full...

I'm having a bit of trouble with Paging within a GridView grid I have set up. I have added the paging but whenever I click on the next page or the last page buttons, the page refreshes and displays blank (i.e. no gridview but my regular search parameters are displayed.
I was trying to search for a solution throughout the web and came across someone that looked to have the same issue. He moved all of his queries into the Page Load method, and the paging seemed to work. I cannot do this because I have 2 different buttons: Search and My Order, both of which perform different queries based on if a date has been selected or what the search is on (Order Number, License Number, Description, Status, etc).
My paging method looks as follows:
[Code]....
From what I can tell this is an issue with no longer having the data set when making the paging call. Is there anythign that I can do?
I have a Gridview all setup and even though I have the paging working it takes select the page twice in order to switch the page. Basically my code is as follows:
