Paging Creates Extra Page / Unable To Stop It
Nov 29, 2010
I am performing "semi"-custom paging for my dynamic LINQ query. However, if the number of results returned exactly fill the page, then I wind up with one extra page that's empty and I can't figure out why. i.e. if I have a page size of 15 and 14, 21, 101, etc. items then everything is fine. However, if I have 15, 30, 45, 60, etc. then I get one extra blank page and I've been unable to make it stop. Anyone have some ideas except to add a new record when I see we're sitting on a multiple of the page size?
I write out the paging control like this and it loops through one time too many if the last page is full...
[code]....

I have a code like the following:
Code:
<table>
<col width="50%" />
<col width="50%" />
<tr>
<td>
</td>
<td>
blah blah
</td>
</tr>
</table>
When i switch to design and get back to source view it added the colgroup so my code looks like this:
Code:
<table>
<colgroup>
<col width="50%" />
<col width="50%" />
<tr>
<td>
</td>
<td>
blah blah
</td>
</tr>
</colgroup>
</table>
how to make the IDE stop adding these extra elements? i changed the Target Schema to all possible combination and it didn't help.

I'm getting a blank column when switching to another page using the default pager in the telerik radgrid. As data for each row, it shows the type of data i am using for the rows (SearchRecord)
Anyone have any clues as to why this may be happening? It doesn't show up on initial population of the grid, but only when I do paging. My columns are built dynamically but i confirmed that when my columns are built, they are the correct number.

I developed a Webpage in ASP.NET - the page has a button that starts a DOS-Program on click.Here is the Code:
if (!String.IsNullOrEmpty(endTime))
{
Process p = new Process();[code]....
The code works fine and starts the Process.Now the Problem: I click on the button and the process starts (I see this in the database) and the program works fine, however, I want to stop the process now, but don't know how.
There isn't a DOS-Window where I can click "CTRL + C" or something.What can I do to stop the process?And which User is used for starting the Process?

Currently users select a record in a gridview and click on the delete button. Delete button passes certain variables to identify the record, makes a SQL connection and then deletes the record by executing a stored procedure. This is way the delete button's code behind works. Now we need a confirmation box if a certain flag is False. If the users select YES then they should be able to delete any way otherwise clicking on Cancel should stop the operation. I don't want to use the onClientClick event of the button like many examples on Web show, instead I am using the jQuery, that uses the button ID and pops up a confirmation dialog. The issue I am having is even if the Cancel button on the confirmation dialog is clicked it still goes on to run the code behind, executes the stored procedure and deletes the record. The browser being used is IE 7.0, how do I stop the button from running the code behind in the button_click event if they select cancel?
I have tried return false, e.preventDefault();event.propagation, event.returnValue = false etc but can't stop it. Here is the jQuery, that goes to the webservice when clicked and determines whether to display the confirmation or not when another stored procedure returns the record count of 0 or more. Like I said it works fine in getting the flag value from the SQL but does not stop at the client level and continues on to the code behind of btnDelete.
$(function() {
$("#btnDelete]").click(function(e) {
$.ajax({
type: "POST",
contentType: "application/json; charset=utf-8",
url: "WebServices/myServices.asmx/ConfirmDelete",
data: "{}",
dataType: "json",
error: function(req, msg, err) { alert(req, msg, err); },
success: function(msg) {
if (msg.d == 0 && !confirm("Do you wish to delete this record?")) {
event.preventDefault();
return false;
event.returnValue = false;
}
}
});
});
});

GridView
<asp:GridView ID="GridView1" runat="server" AllowPaging="True"
AllowSorting="True" PagerSettings-Position="TopAndBottom"
PagerSettings-Mode="Numeric" PageSize="40" CellPadding="4" DataSourceID="dsEquipmentGridView"
ForeColor="#333333" GridLines="Horizontal" Style="font-size: x-small" AutoGenerateColumns="False"
[Code]....
For the first page loaded, it shows the correct DataKey value if I click on the command field.
However if I change to the next page of results, upon selecting a record the corresponding value is incorrect. It seems to keep the previous page information. How do I overcome this?
EDIT:
In the GridView1_SelectedIndexChanged method, I used the following:
[Code].....
I am unable to get the correct value after paging.

I am finding an issue with build release of asp.net project. The code files page attributes gets changed after build.
The code is <%@ Page Language="C#" AutoEventWireup="true" ValidateRequest ="false" CodeFile="~/AssociateJob.aspx.cs" Inherits="XXXXXX.AssociateJob" %>
And build is: <%@ page language="C#" autoeventwireup="true" validaterequest="false" inherits=" XXXXXX.AssociateJob, XXXXXX_deploy" enableviewstatemac="false" enableEventValidation="false" viewStateEncryptionMode="Never" %>
After build, we expect only highlighted portion should be different, rest all should be the same. Three attributes (enableviewstatemac, enableEventValidation, viewStateEncryptionMode) are coming extra in the deployment. We use FinalBuilder to build the project, which uses MSBuild internally.

I have a following issue (it's only happening in Internet Explorer).
I add callback to a page in the old-fashioned way -> Page.ClientScript.RegisterClientScriptBlock(...)
The scenario is: 1) The default page is being loaded. On Page_OnLoad it assigns a NULL to some session key. Let's call it Control -> Session["Control"] = null;
2) User presses a button and gets redirected to a next page (let's call it NextPage.aspx) using javascript event -> window.location.assign(....) (also tried .href = ... - no help)
3) The NextPage.aspx assigns some value to Session["Control"] on Page_OnLoad
5) User clicks a button on the NextPage.aspx and a callback request is being sent to a server....
TA DA!!! The interesting part:
6) Along with the request to the NextPage.aspx another request is being sent to the default page.
7) The only response is being recieved by a client is a response from the NextPage.aspx BUT since the code on the default page is being executed it puts null to the Session["Control"] which screws all my following scenario. the default page doesn't recognize the request as a callback? so if(IsCallback) {} doesn't help....
I believe it's not a code issue since as I wrote above it works in development environment,but I have no clue what can 'cause it to fail in production and only in IE...
At least what to start to look at... and I have Helicon's ISAPI Rewrite installed on the production server. It doesn't seem to be the cause but who knows....
Correction
if I do not assign window.location and just add a link to the NextPage.aspx and click it manualy after callback ended it still sends extra request to the default page. if I click the link before I initialize callback it works fine without extra request.

I have an web application with crystal report. The report are printing fine. But the problem is
i have applied page margin setting as
Top Margin 0.25 in
Left Margin 0.02 in
Bottom Margin 0.17 in
Right Margin 0.42 in
all are fine without Bottom Margin. Bottom Margin will come with more space without considering 0.17 in. I think that it may be happened that the detail section i have a rectangle box object. Inside this box have data from data base. I want to print this box as 3 times in a page with three records. all are fine.I adjested maxium to fit the box in details section to dispaly three times in a page. But when i wil get the print out the three box will come with 3 times. But after the three rectangle box ,the footer of the page will take some extra space.
I don't want to print pagefooter,page header,report header, report footer at all. i am suppressed these things.
I want to know why it is came with some more space on the footer.?
How to solve the issue?
And tell me the C#.Net code for pageHeader Suppress,report header suppress,report footer suppress,page footer

I am writing a web application which consists of a master page (header / menus) which does not change and content pages. When I do something like click on a button it causes a post back which is correct but this redraws the whole screen and becomes annoying because every post back and the whole screen flickers.
Is there a way to only refresh the content page?

<PagerStyle HorizontalAlign="Right" CssClass="paging"/>
<PagerTemplate>
<table width="100%">
<tr>
<td style="text-align:left; width:50%">
<asp:LinkButton ID="lnkPrv" Visible="false" CommandName="Page" CommandArgument="Prev" runat="server">Previous</asp:LinkButton>
</td>
<td style="text-align:right; width:50%;padding-left:50%;">
<asp:LinkButton ID="lnkNext" CommandName="Page" CommandArgument="Next" runat="server">Next</asp:LinkButton>
</td>
</tr>
</table>
</PagerTemplate>
Code behind is below
protected void gvProduct_PageIndexChanging(object sender, GridViewPageEventArgs e)
{
Literal1.Visible = gvProduct.PageIndex == 0;
LinkButton lnkPrv = (LinkButton)gvProduct.BottomPagerRow.FindControl("lnkPrv");
LinkButton lnkNext = (LinkButton)gvProduct.BottomPagerRow.FindControl("lnkNext");
lnkPrv.Visible = e.NewPageIndex > 0;
lnkNext.Visible = e.NewPageIndex < gvProduct.PageCount - 1;
gvProduct.PageIndex = e.NewPageIndex;
FillGrid();
}
The code does not give any error. I can see it set the visible property to true/false. But actual control on page remain same (always visible on every page).

firstly i am not really an ASP.Net developer but i do work in C#.
Anyway one of the application that i develop has an ASP.Net section and i need to amend it.
I want to add a Checkbox which when Checked by the User will set a Session variable.
This Session variable will then be accessed on another page where it will include/disclude some SQL and therefore change the behaviour of a Search.
So i have 2 Pages - Page1 that has the Checkbox on it -

I have an ASP.NET (C#) page that has a long load time (like 2 minutes). The user is presented with a little animation and a "please wait" message. If the user accidentally loads this page, they need to wait for it to load.
My question is: Is there a way to stop the page load?

I'm using ASP.NET, and in a Wizard control I have radio buttons where if "Yes" is selected, a panel is shown, but if "No" is selected, the panel is hidden. I have MaintainScrollPositionOnPostBack set to True, though the ActiveStepChanged event changes it to False so that when you click Next to see the next Wizard step, it will start at the top of the page. The problem is, after clicking Next, the first time you click on a radio button it jumps to the top of the page (the page retains its position any time you click a radio button after the first time). How do I stop it from jumping the first time?

I have an ImageButton programmed to open up a new window with a small onclientclick javascript routine. But, when the ImageButton is clicked, the page containing the button reloads too, causing both a delay and loss of position on the page. I don't need the page to reload, just the new window to open.

(I believe that this applies to both normal ASP.NET web parts and SharePoint hosted web parts)
The web part has an 'export' button that renders the output as csv and sets the appropriate headers so its opened in Excel.
Hooking in the buttons click event, clearing the response, adding the appropriate headers and content types is trivial - example
However I've noticed that if this code added to a web part and a debugger attached then if there are multiple instances of this (or any other) web part on the page then neither HTTPApplication.CompleteRequest or Response.End stop the processing/page lifecycle and all the events for all the page controls still fire.
This is wasteful in this example as the other web parts don't need to run - nothing they do will get to the response.
