How To Rename Folder When Images Inside That Folder Are Displayed In The Same Page

Jan 29, 2011

I have a simple photo album. I have some catories in db and corresponding folders. For example, when user creates a category called "Asp Net" in db then a folder called "AspNet" is created. Then user can upload photo and all photos are displayed as thumbnail. No photo is saved in db, they are directly saved lets say AspNet folder. I just fetch filelist from intended folder and list them. However I want user to be able to update category name or delete it. To keep consistency, corresponding folder should be updated or deleted. But when I try it throws exception: Access to the path 'xxxxx" is denied.

Access A Namespace Inside App Code Folder From Another Folder

Sep 20, 2010

I have a class file stored in the app code folder. A certain page that I want to access is inside its own folder within the root and it is using the namespace within the class file in the app code folder. How do I tell the application where the file is? I'm sure I could put the code in a file inside my folder, but I'd rather not have duplicate code in two different files... unless there is a way to make a reference of some type.

Visual Studio :: Reference JavaScript Library From Multiple Websites Without Copying It To Each Project Folder

May 13, 2010

I have several web sites, all of which use the same JavaScript library. How can I "reference" this library from each of my web sites? If I just import the library into my web site in Visual Studio, I get in trouble as soon as the library changes, because I then have to update it in all web sites manually. It would be much easier to place the library in an external folder and just reference it from my web sites. How can I do this with Visual Studio?

Adding Reference To DLL Is Not Working?

Jul 8, 2010

I have created a VB DLL by selecting File - New - Project and then Class Library

I added a "Properties" region and a "Function" region with some simple properties and one simple function. Compiled it and used it in another app with no errors.

At that point the only references in the project were the default references when creating the new project.

I then created a function that will take a file as a param and get the physical path and add the 2 together. In the function I use the "Request.PhysicalPath" method of the System.Web.UI.UserControl.

I then added areference to the System.Web DLL in my project.

PROBLEM IS I get an error on "Request" that says "Name Request is not declared"

So I googled the error which I found a thread that said to "just use HttpContext.Current.Request.Form" because "by default all websites developed in Visual Studio 2005 is Inherited from System.Web.UI.Page and Class files won't that's the resion we have to add System.Web.UI.Page namespace in the class file"

However when I added the "HttpContext.Current.form." before my "Request.PhysicalPath" I get the same error on "HttpContext".

What Am I doing wrong?

System.Web.UI.UserControl

Url Routing For The Page Inside A Folder?

Feb 9, 2011

I am trying to implement Url routing in asp.net 4.0. I just a created a small test application. I am trying to browse the pages kept inside the folder. It works fine when i am running in Visual studio..but when i hosted the application in IIS7 then it showed an error.

HTTP Error 404.0 - Not Found

The resource you are looking for has been removed, had its name changed, or is temporarily unavailable.

The code i used is. (i am using master page too.)

protected void Application_Start(object sender, EventArgs e)
{
CustomRouteTable(RouteTable.Routes);
}
void CustomRouteTable(RouteCollection routes)
{
routes.MapPageRoute("Telugu", "Movie/Telugu", "~/Telugu/Telugu.aspx");
}

in my default.aspx page i kept a button and on click of the button i wrote.

protected void btnTelugu_Click(object sender, ImageClickEventArgs e)
{
Response.RedirectToRoute("Telugu");
}

C# - Reference An ASP Control Inside A Function Or Class Method?

Oct 7, 2010

How do you reference an asp.net control on your page inside a function or a class.
private void PageLoad(object sender, EventArgs e)
{
//An example control from my page is txtUserName
ChangeText(ref txtUserName, "Hello World");
}
private void ChangeText(ref HtmlGenericControl control, string text)
{
control.InnerText = text;
}
Will this actually change the text of the txtUserName control?
I tried this and is working
private void PageLoad(object sender, EventArgs e)
{
ChangeText(txtUserName, "Hello World");
}
private void ChangeText(TextBox control, string text)
{
control.Text = text;
}

C# - Path To Files Inside Content Folder ?

Mar 24, 2011

Is the Content folder the root folder? I mean does http://localhost/ point to Content or is it something else?

I have a file named dummyIcon.png inside Content/images/temp folder. How do I locate it from my domain layer (which is a Code Library project)? What is the best practice of displaying images in ASP.NET MVC? Should I store a path to the image in the database (which I personally prefer), or do I save a byte array and return it to the view?

Web Forms :: How To Reference Textbox Inside Nested Formview In Tabcontainer

Apr 7, 2010

I have a webform that has a formview (fvwContract) and inside itemtemplate there is a Tabcontainer with three tabs (invoice (spanish: factura), receipt (spanish: recibo) and beneficiary (spanish: beneficiario). I have another formview inside invoice tab (fvwFactura) with many textboxes that I need to manipulate in code behind. The thing is that I canīt reference any of them like the following:

protected void DropDownList1_SelectedIndexChanged2(object sender, EventArgs e)
{
AjaxControlToolkit.TabContainer container = (AjaxControlToolkit.TabContainer)fvwContract.FindControl("TabContainer1");
FormView myforma = (FormView)container.FindControl("fvwFactura");
TextBox txtdos = (TextBox)myforma.Row.FindControl("txt2");
Label lbldos = (Label)myforma.Row.FindControl("lbl1");
lbldos.Text = "sample1";
txtdos.Text = "sample2";
}

I just don't know how to reference any control inside frwContract.TabContainer1.fvwFactura

Get Page Title Inside Class In App_Code Folder

I guess I might be missing something easy (or not) here. I have a class in App_Code which do some validations over Session and Request.Url, till here it's working fine. But then I need to get the actual page title. I know it's simple to get it in the page's code behind, but could I get it in a separate class like it is on my scenario?

.NET Web Site Gets Recompiled When Renaming Or Deleting A Folder Inside?

Apr 23, 2010

I develop a simple file manager inside an ASP.NET Web site (not web application). I notice that every time I rename or delete a folder, the site gets recompiled - i.e. the very next web request after delete or rename operation takes considerably much time to execute.

It's only true for folders, not for files.Why does this occur?

P.S. I use WebDev server (Cassini), haven't tested in on IIS yet.

UPDATE: The same disaster happens with ASP.NET MVC Web Applications :(

Client - Reportviewer In Folder Not Working?

Jun 5, 2010

We can run the ReportViewer in a ASP.Net Web App project that is off the root OK so localhost/test/report.aspx works. It's running as a Client Report. But if we move the application up another level the report stops working so localhost/testfolder/test/test.aspx.

When the report fails it has no data to display and none of the images are loading.

Info: We are bind the report in code and sort out the Report.LocalReport.ReportPath to the correct path.

From the comment I've probably not made my self clear, the ASP.Net WebApp is not at the root level it's at the. There is the root application, then "testfolder" as an application and then "test". There are no access permission problems for the files.
