JQuery :: Passing A Long String (longer Than 2048) With $.ajax?
Jul 18, 2010
I have a htmlarea (Jquery plugin) where I need to accept longer strings than 2048 which seams to be the limit. I don't have a clue where to look. It's an MVC app and here are the relevant code:
HTML:
<div id="PageTextDialog" title="Ändra texten på sidan" style="display: none">
<% Using Html.BeginForm %>
<%: Html.TextAreaFor(Function(model) model.PageText, 30, 30, New With {.style = "width:800px;"})%>
<% End Using%>
<button id="SavePageText">Spara</button>
</div>
JScript:
$(function () {
function SaveText(pageID, htmlText) {
var retvalue = false;
$.ajax({
async: false,
I need to perform asp.net web-service function call via jQuery and pass asp.net application path to it. That's the way I'm trying to do it (code is located within asp.net page, e.g. aspx file):
[code]...
Function call works well, but applicationPath parameter doesn't passed correctly. When I debug it I see that backslashes are removed, function gets "C:ProjectsSamplesmytestwebsite" instead of "'C:ProjectsSamplesmytestwebsite'".
What is the regular expression for a RegularExpressionValidator so it fires if the string in the validated control contains a r is longer then 250 chars?
I tried using Ajax & Jquery for the following need, but not able to do...
I have Two Forms StringMain.aspx & Returner.aspx.... I have created 4 Divs at StringMain.aspx and a sample text "ToCheck" at First Div.. In the Returner.aspx form page load, i placed a label like this
I have set StringMain.aspx as default running page. So When i run StringMain.Aspx page,
the text i placed in the First Div "To Check" should concat with the label Text "hello" of Returner.aspx and display it together in the First Div of StringMain.aspx like this
I'm building a greasemonkey script to make posting to craigslist a lot easier for our clients.
Basically the flow is this:
User logs into our system (established authentication cookies with asp.net)User navigates to a section on our site called "CraigsList". If they have the greasemonkey script installed it automatically opens up craigslist in a new tab.
The greasemonkey script then does a request back to our site at [URL] to retrieve a list of available items to be posted to craigslist.
This is where it fails because the request to [URL] is not including any of the authentication cookies. I'm not sure if it doesn't include the cookies because the request originates from [URL] and not [URL] or what. I know it's an authentication issue because looking at it in fiddler it returns a 302 and redirects to the login page.
I put a break point inside MyWebMethod. When I invoke this call on the page, the break point never gets hit. It works fine when I remove all parameters from MyWebMethod's signature and pass in '{}' from JS as parameters. Once I try to pass in a string parameter, it stops working.
I have a form that I don't want to post back so I need to get the form values into my controller via jquery's ajax method.Here is my test controller method:
[Code]....
When I debug the controller method and look at the lineItems parameter, it always contains 0 items. I've tried various formats for the javascipt lineItems parameter but still 0 items. I'm also open to some other way of getting these values in like the jquery form serialze method or something else.
On using jQuery ajax on ASP.Net, we are required to pass the DATA through a string-ed json on the parameters needed. My only concern with this is with strings that has single & double quotes. I tried doing a replace on these and insert escape characters but unfortunately it just doesn't work.
I got a new computer with vs2008 and moved my app onto it for development. I can navigate pages but none of the AJAX is working. I get these IE errors "sys is undefined" and "webpartmanager" is undefined. I found lots of info on the web but none seemed to work/be applicable to my situation. My web.config file looks to be fine and I kept the application at asp.net 2.0.
I would like to read from a long string and just output the first 3 paragraphs of the string. How do I achieve this? I wanted to use this code to show (n) number of words but I have since changed to paragraphs.
is there a way to define a single long string with line breaks within the string definition code?
my string is somethign like this:
string sql = "SELECT a.bg_user_56 AS Project, a.bg_user_60 AS SubSystem, a.BG_USER_81 AS AssignedToUserName, a.bg_responsible AS AssignedTo, FROM mytable"
In my app, I use the built-in membership for managing security. If I log into my app using my iPad or iPhone, I see some long string preceding the ReturnUrl. Here's an example of what it looks like: [URL] At that point, I'm at where I wanted to go but I'm logged off. If I try to go to another secure page, I have to log in again. And the cycle starts all over again.
My SelectCommand string in my asp:SqlDataSource is very long. Is there a way I can chop it up into different strings on several newlines to make it more readable?
I'm using ASP.NET and attempting to call a method with a signature of
[WebMethod] public static string GetInfo(string id){...}
using the following javascript:
var elementValue = $("#element").attr('id');
[code]...
And this is not working.If instead I set elementValue = 2; it works fine. If I try to hardcode in a string value for testing purposes e.g. elementValue = "nameToLookUp"; It fails.Why is this happening, and how do I resolve it?On a side not, why is type: required to be POST instead of a GET? In the end I just want to pass a string value I want to look up in a DB and retrieving some json data.
I have a large(ish) text-box on my page that needs to hold a website URL. The text-box is reasonably wide however most URLs will not fit in on a single line. I want the website address to wrap a single line like this:
[URL]
However what my textbox is doing is this:
[URL]
Does anyone know how to automatically wrap a string that does not contain line feeds / white space? (Yes - Wrap is set to true!)
In my project one of scenario demands passing querystring values more than 256 chars @ a time ...I tried it but after 256 chars its trunacting all other chars. workaround or various ways for passing more than 256 chars through querystring.
As it is now I create a JavaScript object and then stringify it, put it in a hidden textbox and my code behind can read this string. I then use JSON.NET to parse the string which works fine. I now try to use ajax to post it to my web service but have some issues with how to send the string. I have tried many ways but gets the common errors like
Invalid JSON primitive: myString.
So I checked this out [URL] and it works with hard coded values but I want to use a variable.
JavaScsript to create the object:
for (var i = 0; i < results.rows.length; i++) { var row = results.rows.item(i); var customer = new Object(); customer.id = row['id'] customer.name = row['name'] var customerString = JSON.stringify(customer); $.ajax({ type: "POST", url: "synchronise.asmx/synchroniseCustomers", data: "synchroniseCustomers: " + customerString, contentType: "application/json; charset=utf-8", dataType: "json", error: function (xhr, status) { alert("An error occurred: " + status); }, success: function (msg) { alert("success"); } }); }
WebMethod:
public void synchroniseCustomers(string customerString) { JObject o = JObject.Parse(customerString); string id = (string)o["id"]; string name = (string)o["name"];
If I use data: '{ FirstName: "Dave", LastName: "Ward" }'
in the example above it works but I wish to pass on a string instead.
I have a .Net 4.0 MVC 2.0 web application I built using VS 2010 Ultimate. I have about 413 lines of jQuery with no infiniate loops or anything, just ajax calls, .hide(), .show(), .slideToggle(), etc....the usual stuff. However, when I run the page both in debugging (Vista Enterprise 32bit) or in production (Server 2008 Enterprise 64bit w/ IIS 7) I get the following Windows Internet Explorer message dialog box that pops up:
Stop running this script? A script on this page is causeing Internet Explorer to run slowly. If it continues to run, your computer may become unresponsive.
I commented out all 413 lines of my jQuery and this didn't fix a thing. So, then I started to comment out the external js files my page points to, and when I removed this line, the problem stopped, but my page also doesn't function are look right.
[Code]....
I have Googles the hell out of this error, and have found all sorts of reasons as to why this can be caused, and have seen many solutions, even Microsoft has a solution for it which involves a registry mod, but I can't do that since it would have to be done on every client machine. Does anyone know why this js file would be causing this problem? If there just too much js on the page with this file added?
I figured the MVC discussion board would be the place for this since us MVC developers use the hell out of jQuery most.
I have a page that takes a long time to load because it utilizing multiple user controls. Is there a way where I can display a wait animation during the page loading utilizing JQuery? I'm a newbie to Jquery and client side development
