I have the following code to playback video clips.. we are getting to the point where i need to get this setup and populated from our table.. i already have the data i need to put into the needed parameters, but cant figure it out.. i have tried to add runat="server" and add an ID to the parameters i need to control, but when the page loads, the video window is displayed, but no video is available. and at the moment i have the video hard coded to test, but will need to replace that with video links stored in the table.. what am i missing or doing wrong?

On my master page I am displaying a flash file with SWFobject with the the following parameter
<param name="movie" value="flash/object.swf />
It works great when the web page is in the root directory, but will not in a different folder in the project. What is the equivalent to "~/flash/object.swf".

I have a ListView that, among other things, in the EditItemTemplate, has a pair of related DropDownList controls, sort of a parent/child relationship. The selected value of the parent is used as a parameter for the SQL Datasource of the child. Outside of a control such as the ListView, this would be easy and I'd simply set up a ControlParameter for the SQL Datasource and life would be good. Within the DataList things are not quite so simple. My plan is to set the parameter of the child in the Selecting handler of its datasource. I have hard coded some values and this works the way I want it to. My problem is getting the "parent" value. I've got two theories on how to get this:
#1, I've tried instantiating the parent DropDownList but it is either not available at this point in the page life cycle or I just don't know the syntax to get at it from within the Selecting handler.
#2, I'm thinking I may have to grab the value from the underlying data for the ListViewRow that I am editing, but again, I do not know the object model well enough to get at those values.
Below is a code sample for option #1. As stated, setting the parameter works, but getting the value of the DropDownList does not.

I have an RDLC report and an aspx page with a MicrosoftReportviewer control. The objectDataSource retrieves ALL records.
Now I want to filter the reports results So in the rdlc report I create a report parameter by clicking on the report, report parameter menu. The name of the parameter is Zip.
Then in my code behind I put the following code in a button click event
Dim params(0) As Microsoft.Reporting.WebForms.ReportParameter
params(0) = New Microsoft.Reporting.WebForms.ReportParameter("Zip", "78734")
ReportViewer1.LocalReport.SetParameters(params)
ReportViewer1.LocalReport.Refresh()
When I click the button the results are not filtered. The results have not changed.

I have an application which uses globalization, hence the datetime objects are globalized based on current culture. These datetime objects are passed as sql parameters for a select query. The database stores the datetime in only one format (en-US style). Although the query is parameterized the final query generated does not contain converted values (format that Database is expecting).

I was looking at the options in Intellisense for the properties used with a parameter for the Object Data Source. There is one that I don't understand how it would be used. explain, or recommend an article, about the DB Type is for and how it would be used?

The drop down list is used to determine what search criteria will be used to find an invoice. I tried to set the Select method in the switch statement. I don't understand how to set the Select Method and the select parameters programmatically though . I tried a few different ways but can't make the compiler happy. My ODS is in scope in the code behind. I'm not able to access it's properties though. The BAL resides in a separate project that is a ClassLibrary. I also have a using statement for the ClassLibrary project in the code behind.
give me an example of how to do this?

Everything works fine on my dev machine which is running Windows 7. However, when I deploy my app to my production server at MaximumASP running 64 bit Windows 2008 R2 Standard, I just can't access those pages that are handled by my URL Routing logic. I'm getting the infamous "Object reference not set to an instance of an object." error.
The code below is my URL handler for Mailbox module in my application. I've defined mail folders in my database. All this does is if user is looking for /mailbox/Inbox, it looks up the folderID and sends the user the mailbox.aspx page which is expecting a folderID
[Code]....
And this is the part in Global.asax

And finally, the code in the mailbox page:

i have an email field, which can't be null and needs to be valid. all that is working fine through my ascx file.
however, i am also checking if that email already exists, and i want to use the rquiredFieldValidator to show the message, and set the page as invalid.
i've tried the following:
valEmail.IsValid = False
valEmail.Text = "xxx"
the xxx never shows :(
but it does nto seem to work.
the validator itself looks like this:
<b>Email:</b> <asp:TextBox ID="txtEmail" runat="server"></asp:TextBox>

On the RowDataBound event of a gridview I am setting the name of the HtmlInputRadioButton inside the GridViewRow. The problem is that asp.net automatically makes the name unique therefore ungrouping the radio buttons.
Is there a way that I disable this?
Edit - Here's how I am setting the name:
[code]....
Due to the numbers "106" and "107" in the name of the respective radiobuttons it ungroups them.

I'm trying to dynamically create a grid view in C#, the grid will have two columns, one of which is a hyperlink field.Now i've noticed when creating the grid view statically in aspx, the DataNavigateUrlFields property accepts a single string as it's value (the field in the data source with the URL in).
When creating it in code, the very same property is a string[] array, rather than a single string, and is expecting multiple fields which combine together to make the URL (if I've understood MSDN correctly), but what if I just want a single field for the URL?
Why does aspx let me do this, but the C# not?
Here's my code:
Name.HeaderText = "Exercise"; Name.DataField = "Name"; Link.HeaderText = "More Info"; Link.DataTextField = "Link"; Link.DataNavigateUrlFields = "Link";
The code above does NOT compile, I got the following error:
Error 2 Cannot implicitly convert type 'string' to 'string[]' This is regarding the last line.
Here is the aspx code, which it's fine with:
<asp:HyperLinkField HeaderText="More Info" DataTextField="Link" DataNavigateUrlFields="Link" target="_blank" />
Does anyone know how I can dynamically create a hypertext field for a grid view, where it only takes a signle field from the data source as the URL?
